carolina into new york city, hot and humid this afternoon and the heat index values, 103 at rdu and 90 in atlanta, and the in the lower 100s. let's switch gears and take a look at the tropics. we watched this yesterday and it looks like fiona is forming and has a 90% chance of becoming a tropical storm but the movement is good for us and looks like it will makes its way more west and if it was moving in this fashion west northwest or west, we would be more concerned it would eventually curve up, but it doesn't look like that would be happening in africa. we mentioned yesterday several disturbances moving through the continent that would be moving offshore in the coming days. one here and more lined up and all of them are moving towards the west, and eventually, we'll see them merge off the continent and make their way into the atlantic and see if they will form into new depressions or thunderstorms. it could be a quiet period in the atlantic if they all something tropical. that's something we'll eye the next several days. 75 for the low, and tomorrow, a nice day and hot still, 94 for the high and a chance for thunderstorms tomorrow may increase slightly from what we've had today and there may be better coverage and cool or thursday and cooler still on friday but it's still hot over the weekend with the highs around 90. 93 on monday and another front coming in at that point and it might be after that front that comes by that we drier air. i am not going to say a taste of fall because that would come along with cooler weather, but mid to upper 80s on tuesday,
