precipitation is actually occurring at the ground, and they look at surface reports and look at conditions and the lower and middle part of the atmosphere to try to determine that. it's an estimate to what the precipitation type is, and that is rather fluid in dynamic as we go on through time. let's take a look at the visible satellite loop, see we started off with a fair amount of sun, as soon as we heated up the atmosphere, what i call the self destruct mode where it was unstable and the cloud cover was produced quickly and the and the flurrys we have even across the area this afternoon. here is a look at the sky cams not bad now, around downtown raleigh, 39 after having made to it 44 elier this afternoon. the dew point temperature 21, though it's moist enough to produce the snow crystals and the rain drops up there, it is still dry in the lower part of the atmosphere, as a result, we think if you lyin one of those areas where there was enough snow to wet the ground a little bit, that will dry off before it has a chance to freeze. don't worry about that. temperatures down to 36 at roxboro. 43 in tarboro. if we look south, we got 30s sanford and southern pines, 40s everywhere else.
