Two officers shot outside the Police Station in ferguson, missouri. Youre looking at the scene there just moments ago. The officers were rushed to the hospital. This all happening just hours after the police chief stepped down. Abcs Pierre Thomas is in washington with the very latest. Good morning, pierre. Reporter good morning, robin. Officers shot and the city of ferguson a tinder box, a town still in crisis despite the resignation of its police chief amid racial strife. [ gunfire ] reporter bullets flying just after midnight in ferguson, missouri. Okay there was just gunfire and now cops have guns drawn. Reporter the moments the shots were fired caught on video by a protester outside the Embattled Police department. We saw the muzzle fire from the gun up top of the street so we all just ducked down and then saw the cop shot next to us. Reporter two Police Officers ashburn rushed to the hospital with gunshot wounds both in serious condition. They are conscious. However, those are very serious gunshot injuries to be able to sustain in your upper torso and your face. Reporter at least three shots fired from an area located near the Police Station. These Police Officers were standing there and they were shot just because they were Police Officers. Reporter before the shootings protesters faced off with police with riot gear. All ignited by the resignation of the citys police chief, tom jackson. It is very hard for him to leave and for us to have him leave. He felt that this was the best way forward. Reporter to critics chief jackson had no choice but to go after the Justice Department report found while blacks make up 67 of the population they accounted for a disturbing 93 of those arrested. This morning, Police Looking for justice themselves a manhunt now under way to find out whoever is responsible. Police have long been concerned about thugs and criminals with deadly intentions infiltrating the protesters. Robin. Of course the police and others are extremely concerned about this and as you just alluded to launching a massive manhunt right now. Reporter robin, this appears to be a random shooting by someone who just showed up. The key is whether there is any useful Surveillance Footage or an eyewitness but this is an extremely dangerous situation because whoever did this was coldblooded apparently willing to kill someone and theyre still out there. Two agents under investigation this morning accused of driving while drinking and crashing into a White House Security barrier. Abcs jon karl is at the white house with more. Jon, a new chief at the agency and a new black eye. Reporter this is a big embarrassment for the secret service. Here you have george an alleged drunk driving incident on white house grounds and nobody was arrested. The secret service has now removed the two senior agents from their jobs. One of them a top member of president obamas personal detail. They were driving a secret Service Vehicle last week after allegedly drinking at a party for another agent who was retiring. They allegedly drove the car right through security tape that had been set up outside the perimeter of the white house after a suspicious item had been thrown onto the white house grounds. After going through the tape the car crashed into a white house barricade. Just last week the man tapped by president obama to fix the secret service told abcs Pierre Thomas that the agency would make no excuses for mistakes. I think when you fail and we have failed we own it. Now its up to us to correct it. Theres no excuses. Reporter but the incident follows a string of recent failures including the knifewielding man who jumped the fence last fall and sprinted across the white house lawn going through the front door and into the white house residence before being apprehended. What may be most disturbing about this incident is that other secret Service Officers who were on duty at the time and witnessed it wanted to arrest those agents and they were told george by a supervisor to let them go home. Jon, there are signs already that congress is going to come down hard on this. Reporter thats right. You have the Top Committee in the house supervises oversees the secret service, the top democrat and republican on that committee issued a very tough Statement Last night, george saying that this incident begs the question whether the leadership changes at the agency are enough. Jurors were shown new evidence from the night of tsarnaev brothers were on the run and killed an mit police officer. Abcs tom llamas has been in the courtroom for us and he joins us this morning. Were hearing a lot of loud noises outside our window. Sounds like somebody is hitting a trash can really loud. Reporter when mit Police Officers tried to respond to this 911 call on april 18th, three days after the Boston Marathon bombing, they knew something was wrong because fellow officer sean collier was nearby but wasnt answering his radio. Were really not sure whats going on. Reporter prosecutors played these 911 calls and this Surveillance Video in court on wednesday. They say it shows Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and his brother tamerlan walking through the mit campus approaching colliers car from behind before shooting the 27yearold officer multiple times. Officer down. Officer down. Reporter when police reached colliers squad car they found this gory scene, collier shot in the car, bleeding from his head. Get on it. Reporter his fellow officers yelling for help. Dzhokhars lawyers claim it was the 21yearolds brother tamerlan who shot collier. The two alleged terrorists at this point on the run for more than 72 hours after allegedly setting off two bombs at the Boston Marathon. Prosecutors believe that the tsarnaev brothers killed collier because they wanted his gun but this image shows they couldnt get the blood stained firearm out of the holster. Jurors wednesday also getting an upclose look at what the fbi calls pieces of the Pressure Cooker bomb the detonation wire and the damage they helped create including the shredded and charred jacket worn by Jessica Kenski who lost her legs in the blast. Today the beginning of the end of the tsarnaev brothers in court. Were expected to hear from the man they allegedly carjacked as police were closing in on them and the two brothers unsuccessfully tried to bomb and shoot their way out of watertown. Robin. A newborn named landon wrapped in the American Flag carried by his father and his navy uniform, mom is a veteran and so is the photographer. I would have never imagined that anybody would see this image as a disrespect to our nations flag. Reporter Vanessa Hicks served four years in the navy and is married to an active duty navy member. She says shes used the flag as a prop before and that landons parents were eager to do it too. You stand for honor, courage and commitment and as i look at this image, thats what i see. Her husband was on the stand on wednesday for a second day and abcs Mara Schiavocampo has that story for us. Reporter this morning, heart heartbroken husband returns to Court Following two days of gutwrenching testimony. She screamed out hes trying to kill me. Reporter and crossexamination. He came to live again with you and your wife . For a brief period of time yes, sir. Reporter testifying about the day his wife jamie was killed by the man he used to call his best friend. My eyes immediately went there was blood on the floor and i could see jamies legs and i looked up and john was standing over her with a knife. Reporter john is Jonathan Broyhill the best man at the couples wedding but in 2013 nation says broyhill stabbed jamie at their raleigh home with a large kitchen knife. Somebodys stabbed her and shes bleeding so badly. Reporter jamie just 29 years old. She was a rising star in the democratic party, ran a Political Consulting company and hired broyhill to do some accounting but prosecutors say broyhill stole almost 50,000 from a Campaign Fund and when jamie confronted him, he vicious viciously attacked her. Nation says he was home early from work that day and ran downstairs when jamie screamed for help. Thats when he says broyhill turned the knife on him too. I didnt even realize my hands had been cut at the time. Reporter broyhills attorneys admit he attacked the couple. But say it wasnt premeditated and, therefore, not first degree murder. Aaa expects this year to beat the average of nearly 6. 4 billion that potholes cost americans each year. To keep that money in your pocket experts say make sure your tires are fully inflated to minimize the damage if you do hit one. Use extra caution on roadways still covered with snow or standing water. There may be a massive drop lurking underneath. And use traffic apps to alert you to potholes and other hazards on your route. Two senior agents including a top member of president obamas detail were allegedly drunk when they crashed and Agency Vehicle into a white house barrier last week. Other agents who saw the crash wanted those in the vehicle to be detained but a supervisor let them go home. The Homeland Security department is now investigating and both agents have been removed from their jobs. As Hillary Clinton faces more questions about her private email use, a new audit finds most emails at the state department are not being preserved. A government watchdog found in 2011 state Department Employees sent more than 1 billion emails but only 61,000 were actually saved for Public Record and only 41,000 were saved in 2013. The audit found employees lacked proper training. Well a 15yearold boy has been arrested in this attempted kidnapping in washington state. The suspect seen running from a park with the toddler. There arent any scientific studies looking at the melt method but theres a lot of things there that makes some sense and if you try it and it works for you, you know chronic pain is so debilitating. If you find something that works, go with it. Melt method thats weve been doing this in the gym for quite some time with the roller and it kind of does really loosens things up. Anybody that should be cautious about it . Is it bad it depends whats causing your pain. I would definitely talk to your doctor before you start something thats quite physical. There are as picks that are like massage and for some pima saj can be very effective and there are other things apart from taking medications that can be helpful with chronic pain. What other things can you try . Well, theres something called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which helps you change how you relate to that pain. You know theres certain injuries that will be painful but you can change how your mind is dealing with that much theres mindful meditation which for some people has been very helpful in releasing how youre dealing with that pain and shifting your focus. Those two things are very valuable then there are programs that combine exercise and counseling that have been very valuable. So it doesnt have to be just reaching for pills, Something Like this and all these other combinations can be really helpful. Always has side effects. They do have side effects and while sometimes youll need them look at these alternatives i think is exciting . There are a lot of people who are in chronic pain. Just debilitating. Debilitating.
