Karen is following details in traffic david has the accuweather forecast. Good morning. Good morning, everybody. We still have a little bit of leftover sleet trying to push new areas south of philadelphia. Looks like it might clip wilmington and some of this is going to cross parts of south jersey over the next hour or so. Might even take a little longer than an hour to get past us but in through philadelphia and other areas south of allentown and reading, we did have a fresh coat of sleet overnight and some freezing rain and youre going to find whole new round of freezeups on sidewalks and side streets as you go around this morning okay. We do still have a Winter Weather advisory in effect until 6 oclock this morning. Ill let you know if that gets extended but looks like it will probably expire because the active precipitation in most cases will be over. But nonetheless for the morning rush expect delays. Youll find side streets glazed cars certainly lightly glazed across much of the region and driveways and sidewalks should be slick this morning so be careful of that and some side streets also picking up a fresh coating of ice. 28 degrees in philadelphia, 29 in wilmington, 26 in allentown, 26 in trenton 28 degrees in wildwood, new jersey. And on your smartphone, were going to probably still hold about 28 by 8 oclock and then final well dollar get back up above the freezing mark and things should improve. Noon 37. 3 oclock temperature is 40 and well hit a high of 41 probably around 2 oclock this afternoon. By 6 oclock were probably still a little above the freezing mark. Karen, a lot of icing up overnight. Im hoping the main roads are okay anyway. Were looking live right now and taking a look at 95 at cottman. Overnight construction in the process of clearing. Were watching for slick spots but main roads like i95 at this point have been treated and are wet. Its really the secondary roads, the ramps and the sidewalks that you need to be most careful of as youre heading out. And of course the big story weve been following is that horrible accident in the overnight hours and its on the new jersey turnpike southbound closed at exit nine. Multi vehicle accident including a fatal accident here. Lets take a look at some of the video and the action cam was on the scene and you can see parts of the pileup in the mile long backup as we dealt with this in cranbury township, new jersey. This is affecting you if youre up in north jersey coming down because its the southbound lanes that are affected at this point up in new jersey. The turnpike closed at exit nine. I think this is an example of what can happen with icy conditions. You see that terrible pileup even on a main road like the new jersey turnpike that was treated so be careful about accidents like that one. I want to take you to the maps. In Mount Laurel Burlington county 295 northbound past 73 we have an accident involving a vehicle that went off the roadway. The right lane and the shoulder are currently blocked so not the main highway but it can be it could be situation that is caused that vehicle to slide off the road. Looking in new jersey were seeing people moving fine. Theyre not slipping and sliding on 42 northbound here at creek road but just be careful as youre headed out tam. Thank you karen. Lets go over top mobile6 its on the move this morning. Action News Reporter Annie Mccormick is riding around the region giving us a look at what its like outside this morning. Good morning annie i think were having a little trouble with annies microphone. Across penns landing you can see how the roads look shiny. The roads have been especially the major ones have been brined but thats still an indicator that depending on where you are that brine may not have gotten everywhere. Some of that brine could be black ice especially as the commute starts to get going you want to leave car lengths between yourself and other vehicles and take your time getting where youre going this morning. Now lets take a live look at Philadelphia International airport. No problems being reported right now here or anywhere else around the country but we do have some School Closures most of them once again like yesterday in the north and western suburbs of philadelphia. Were following breaking news this morning. Forced to make an Emergency Landing in houston. This happened when the pilot noticed the landing gear was not coming down. Action News Reporter erin ohearn is live in our sat center. Shes got breaking details. Reporter good morning, tam. Incredibly frightening moments for the 52 passengers and four crew members on board that American Airlines flight traveling from philadelphia to iah in houston texas. Now it was only a three hour 42 minute flight but the last 45 seconds or so were probably the longest and most terrifying that of flight. Lets take a look at this exclusive video. You can see the sparks coming from the plane there as it actually had to land on its belly. According to officials, this is flight 1825 and as it was preparing for landing something went horribly wrong. The nose gear did not deployment as you can see there are sparks flying because the plane actually had to make an Emergency Landing on its belly and now caused as you can see sparks to shoot from the bottom of the plane. Passengers had to exit the aircraft using the they had to exit the aircraft using the aircraft slides. One of the passengers had to be taken to a local hospital. But fortunately the injuries of that passenger are apparently not serious according to an airline spokesperson. Now, American Airlines released this statement in response immediately after the Emergency Landing stating in part americans primary concern at this time is for our passengers and crew. We are in contact with authorities and cooperating with response efforts. Obviously at this point the ntsb is investigating the incident but again, one Person Injured on that flight taken to a local hospital. That passengers is expected to be okay. Hopefully within the next half hour were going to hear from one of the passengers who was on board that flight and well bring you more information as we get it. For now were live in the sat center, erin ohearn, channel6 action news. Back to you. Lets turn to dave murphy. Not a lost precipitation right now but are we picking things up later . Precipitation kind of wrapping up over the next couple hours matt but were looking at a fresh coating of sleet across much of the region from precipitation that was farther north. Double scan tracking a couple additional freezing rain showers and there could be a little additional sleet mixed in here, too as we have seen some of that overnight as well. Ill go in a little bit tighter and well start this in motion and it does look like this is basically heading toward the east. Wilmington right on the cusp of this but looks like you might just dodge this latest bullet. Down in Cape May County we have changed over to some sleet so i would be careful of icy sidewalks or Road Conditions down there and the same thing goes for really the entire state of delaware just below wilmington. Above where this active precipitation is falling we did have earlier precip and up through most of our northern and western suburbs there is the chance of an additional coating of sleet on sidewalks driveways and maybe some side streets. As we take a look outside, we have conditions that appear to be drying out in penns landing. Little bit of a wet look to i95 there in penns landing right now but the cars cautiously getting up and down the highway. I would use caution even on the main roads as karen mentioned because we did have at least one major accident last night on the new jersey turnpike and it could be that there are some icy patches even on the mains. 28 degrees currently in philadelphia. Winds out of the northnortheast at 16 Miles Per Hour so its another cool morning out there. Despite or in addition to the problem with ice under foot and under your tires we also need you to bundle up because the wind chill in philadelphia is just 16 degrees, thats what it feels like. Satellite and radar showing that you this appears object last of the precipitation. It will have a tendency to shoot toward the east and then kind of spin away from us. A lot of clouds out to the west behind it but we expect the clouds to give way to sunshine today. Taking a look at temps heres good news. 28 by 8 oclock. By 11 00 were up above freezing your high around 2 oclock well get to 41 degrees. That will feel kind of nice. High temperatures across the region wilmington has a shot at 43. 42 in millville. Probably the mid to upper 30s in our Northern Areas like allentown and reading and 38 in Atlantic City and cape may. A bit milder today. Got a lot of stuff coming at us for the rest of the week, though. A couple of cold shots. The first one is friday when well only see highs in the 20s and believe it or not by sunday we may only get into the teens and this could be the coldest air of the winter sorry an so far and a couple of chances of snow showers. During the morning be careful of some new coating of sleet on side streets and sidewalks in particular and then increasing clouds on wednesday, 39 degrees. Well still be well above freezing in the afternoon. On thursday a high of 40. In the after of afternoon and evening a front comes through that could produce snow showers and there could be a light accumulation thursday night. Friday windy and colder 23 degrees. Valentines day looks like we only get up to about 29 degrees and on saturday afternoon and night theres another chance of snow showers that for now on most models look light although there is a coastal low that may want to get involved and in that case it might be a little bit more. But in any event i would go for at least snow showers on saturday night and then theres that sunday. Windy and frigid, a high of just 19 degrees. President s day sunny and cold. Things going downhill. [laughter] little bit. March is coming, though. All right. Thanks david. 4 11 now. And still ahead tragic new developments developments in a house fire in delaware. Flames attack the house and spread top neighboring homes. Lets take a look out here on sky 6 hd in a moment. There we go. Taking a live look at Philadelphia International airport. Karen rogers taking a look at that. Good morning, karen. Good morning. Were looking live here in chalfont bucks county and this is 202 parkway at bristol road. You can see the slick spots all over the road. At this point i think when you head out and it looks damp you still have to expect that its going to be iced over and thats really problem out there. Not that were getting a lot of current precipitation but roads are icy and sidewalks most especially secondary roads and sidewalks parking lots were dealing with that as you head out. Were seeing these cars move okay though. Were not really watching anyone slipping and sliding but you can see theyre moving at a slower pace so be careful about that and thats a good idea to give yourself a lot of extra time and be prepared. Dont make any sudden stops if you can try to avoid that by giving yourself a lot of space between yourself and the car ahead you. Were not finding a ton of accidents at the current point but thats because its so quiet out there with so many people sleeping. 295 northbound past 73 we have an accident where a vehicle ran off the roadway. The right lane the right shoulder blocked at this point on 295 here in Mount Laurel Burlington county and weve been talking about the multi vehicle pileup on the new jersey turnpike. If youre heading northbound at this point its going to be new jersey turnpike southbound is closed at exit nine. At this point its not affecting the northbound lanes but this is in cranbury township, a fatal accident scene that still has closures at this point so watch for that that if youre coming southbound and from that pointer but a good idea of the kind of things that can happen with the icy conditions out there and this one happened last night. Lets look outside at the ben franklin bridge. Could be slippery. I are no problems coming in on the area bridges myself but westbound traffic headed towards center city 45 miles an hour here but 35 miles an hour speed restrictions in place at the betsy ross and the walt whitman and thats because of the potential for those slippery conditions. Lets take a look at Storm Tracker 6 live double scan and we can see the precipitation that we have is down to the south in wilmington and delaware. Youre dealing with this as well as Cape May County and were watching the sleet as it comes down currently but be careful because the problem is its already frozen if it precipitated in your area in the overnight hours which it has for most of us. It looks like its a little wet but its frozen gnat. Thanks carney. More light fluffy snow will be falling this morning in new hampshire. Once again an accident that happened last night on the in turnpike in north jersey is still an issue this morning. One person died in this and much is still left to be done to try and get things moving again. Yeah, its such a terrible scene because such a pileup right on the new jersey turnpike and although it happened last night you see the number of trucks and tractortrailers involved with this, you can see that theyre still trying to deal with this on the roadway on the new jersey turnpike. Now, this is not affecting you if youre headed north. If youre from this area and youre about to travel up north on the turnpike, youre okay. The travel is if youre traveling southbound so if you know somebody thats up in Middlesex County trying to come down from the turnpike, that will be the problem right there. Were watching some movement right now with trucks on the roadway through that center lane as they try to continue to clear and deal with this accident scene at this point but you could see the restrictions are there on the turnpike southbound near the Molly Pitcher service area, this terrible accident thats at exit nine in East Brunswick in cranbury township middlesex new jersey. Lets take a look at the maps. Were seeing speed restrictions here on the new jersey turnpike between salem and gloucester county. The delaware Memorial Bridge at exit 645 miles an hour speed restriction there is north of exit six, 35 miles an hour speed restrictions all because of the icy conditions dave. All right karen. On the big board the main batch of remaining precipitation is actually a couple of them are in delaware and south jersey. Very slowly pushing toward the east and this is light sleet light freezing rain but still enough to create some new problems on roadways and keep in mind that to the north where we may have nothing left maybe some drizzle or maybe nothing at all its still below freezing and were still looking at the potential for icy patches not only on roads but on sidewalks and perhaps driveways. 30 degrees is your temperature by 9 oclock. 37 by noon. By mid did you or late morning we should be above freezing in philadelphia, 40 by 3 oclock with a high of 41 probably around 2 oclock this afternoon. Breaking overnight a flight from philadelphia makes an Emergency Landing in texas. Dramatic video is just in to the news room. Good morning, its 4 30 now on this tuesday february 10th. Lets head on over to meteorologist, david murphy to see what we can expect in accuweather and karen rogers has her eyes on traffic. Good morning. Weve had more sleet and freezing rain overnight. Now its breaking down in parts of New Castle County delaware, parts of southern delaware and some of this clipping Cape May County and even down there in the southern tip of cape may we have some of this thats falling as sleet so there could be some icy roads in and around here of course but even up in areas to the north where the precipitation is over some overnight sleet and freezing rain came through and it has produced some new problems with ice on some sidewalks, side streets and perhaps some larger roads as well. So, you will want to be careful early on. Theres a Winter Weather advisory that technically expires at 6 oclock this morning. The active snow sleet and ice is in the process of ending as you saw but in these areas and maybe even points to the north again there are still some new icy coatings out there. Take it easy on the morning rush and expect delays. Cars will be lightly glazed so youll have to get out there and do some scraping. I know i did in Delaware County and driveways and sidewalks
