shoved down there where you see those showers down in west virginia and maybe parts of the eastern shore of maryland. 67 degrees, that's your temperature this morning in philadelphia. cooler than it's been the last several mornings. same story up in allentown where we're only at 63. 63 in trenton, 66 in wilmington. boy, these are just nice numbers. you step outside most of the area you're just feeling refreshed. the dewpoints are still running a little bit high down in dover delaware so central delaware that's a spot where it's still sticky. everybody else is looking at dewpoints close to 60 and remember you have to get up over 60 to even begin to feel a little bit humid. so, this is a lot more comfortable today. if you're out running this morning good morning to get stuff done. exercise-wise. 7 o'clock 69 degrees. lots of sunshine. 75 by 10 o'clock. by noon, we're getting warmer, 80 degrees and this afternoon, yeah, not like you won't want cool drinks if you're out there working or playing in the sun, it's going to be cooling enough for that but with lower humidity it should be very, very nice. matt pelman it looks like we got another nice one tomorrow and then things start to change a little bit as we head toward the week. details coming up from accuweather. >> but speaking of running david, we expect traffic to be running a whole lot more smoothly than we're used to starting this morning here along 202 northbound in the exton and frazier area because yes, indeed, we have three lanes opened now on the northbound side coming away from the 30 bypass on up to 401 joining the three lanes that we already had up around route 29. yesterday they opened the third southbound lane and just this morning the third northbound lane is opened on 202. they'll be coming back during the overnights over the course of the next week or two to put the finishing touches on the project but you do now have three lanes both ways along 202, which we're very happy about. elsewhere in chester county caln township a new motorcycle crash this morning along 113 northbound just north of the 30 bypass. on the turnpike eastbound past downingtown overnight construction there is gone. so check that off the list. but on the northeast extension northbound still some left lane work between quakertown and the lehigh valley. and overnight construction on the vine street expressway has cleared. all lanes opened in both directions on this wednesday morning. tam. >> okay, thank you, matt. developing overnight, quite a story. a police officer out there on his regular patrol came upon a burning car with a man unconscious trapped inside. now what that officer did next right before the car became a fire ball is a big parter of when i man is alive this morning. "action news" reporter katherine scott is live along broad street in the city's logan section. she has the full story. good morning, katherine. >> reporter: good morning, tam. the driver was unconscious. the flames were growing. the officer was able to get in through an open passenger window and pull that driver to safety. >> thirty-ninth district officer saved this -- saved this individual's life. >> reporter: philadelphia police officer joel rice says he was in the right place at the right time. he's been returning from northwest detectives shortly after midnight when something caught his attention further down broad street. >> as i approached wyoming avenue i saw up in the distance what looked like a fire ball. >> reporter: moments prior a 2008 dodge charger had spun out of control, hit a median, then two parked cars before coming to a stop in the middle of broad street near belfield and logan. officer rice approached the vehicle and saw the 47-year-old driver sprawled unconscious across the front seat with no seat belt on. there was a fire in the engine compartment. the officer was able to open the passenger side door and around this time a passing private ambulance company pulled up. >> with their help i pulled the male out of the front seat of the car as the flames were growing. >> reporter: the fire spread through the car but the driver was out and no one else was injured. >> i'm glad of the outcome but obviously it would have been better without the fiery wreck but all things considered, this is a positive outcome. >> reporter: and police are at the hospital. they're speaking to the driver. they say that he doesn't appear to be impaired in any way so they're still trying to determine how he initially lost control of the 15 he has a concussion, he has bumps and bruises but he is alive. we're live in logan, katherine scott, channel6 "action news. >> lucky in so many ways. a fast moving fire damaged a louse in southwest philadelphia overnight. the fire broke out on the 5200 block of florence avenue at 2:30 a.m. crews arrived to flames shooting out of the second floor windows of the row home. they say a large amount of debris on the second floor hampered their fire fight. there are no reports of injuries. we have new information about a late night crash in delaware county. the driver who hit a pedestrian then fled the scene is now under arrest. chopper6 is over lincoln and chester pike in prospect park when officers located the suspect's vehicle. we are still waiting for police to rehe lease the releass condition. three bandits smashed and grabbed their way to $10,000 in jewels at the montgomery mall. surveillance video shows the masked men taking hammers to the jewelry display. the trio struck in broad daylight just before 11:30 yesterday morning. investigators believe the suspects scouted out the mall and were able to get in and out through an unlocked back door. >> the way they're moving organized and the equipment that they have they're in and they're out, there's no hesitation, i would say it's definitely not their first time. >> no employees or customers were hurt. >> it is now 5:36. the republicans are dealing with a remarkable and almost unbelievable display of party division just three months out from election day. gop representative richard hannah of new york has become the first republican in congress to say he'll be voting for hillary clinton over donald trump. as well top gop donor and former california gubernatorial candidate meg whitman says she'll be doing the same. the hewlett packard ceo warned national security would be in danger under a trump presidency. trump is refusing to endorse senator john mccain or house speaker paul ryan in their upcoming primaries. hillary clinton's running mate tim kaine campaigned in florida. he stopped at betty's soul food restaurant in fort lauderdale. party leaders promised him in clinton will carry broward county by 250,000 votes. clinton is back on the trail today in colorado. >> it is proving harder than expected to get rid of zika carrying mosquitos in florida. aerial straying starts today but there are fears some of the bugs are resistant to the insecticideinsecticides: severa lines have updated ticket change policies since the cdc issued its travel warning for pregnant women to stay away from the area. degrees. cooler than recently. how about that dewpoint down to 61 degrees. anything over 60 is considered a little humid but that's just a little humid and a lot better than it's been for basically the last couple of weeks. winds out of the northeast at 3 miles per hour. a good looking morning, too, way lack of any significant cloud cover on satellite and again there humidity has been shoved all the way down to our south close closer to those shos southwest of washington, d.c. and virginia. today good 70 degrees under mainly sunny skies through the day. 70 at 8 o'clock. 75 at 10:00 and by noon, up to 80. now, it is going to be warm this afternoon, so if you're playing or working outside i would still recommend keeping some of those sports drinks or water handy. a high of 84 degrees. but with lower humidity, it is going to feel a lot more comfortable than it has recently. high temperatures across the region, 81 in allentown, a comfortable 80 in trenton, 82 in reading, 82 in wilmington, 84 the warm spot in philadelphia and then 82 down in millville. down in dover it's going to be more humid today. that's one pocket where we haven't been a able to evacuate that higher humidity. as you're headed down toward cape may it might be slightly humid but still better than it has been recently. closer look at the shore, a lot of 80's from beach haven down to ocean city, down to sea isle city, about 78 today in cape may. low 80's other delaware beaches. sunscreen will be important today and tonight a beautiful night for baseball as citizens bank park. low humidity, just gorgeous weather. 79 degrees for the first pitch. 71 in the ninth inning and hopefully those bats are still alive. the phillies wind into double digits last night. that was nice. tomorrow pretty much a repeat. high pressure a little bit of a breeze around that high out of the northeast. comfortable low humidity on thursday and another high around 84. starts to get a little bit more humid on friday and definitely more on saturday though. tropical storm earl formed right before we went on the air at noon yesterday in case you missed it. it's still a tropical storm getting close to the coast of honduras. looks like it could grow to a category one hurricane by the time it makes landfall late tonight in belize, little echo tourism destination there. hopefully that wasn't your vacation plan for today because you're not going get there. and then it looks like tropical storm again as it heads in toward the gulf of mexico, the southern gulf and then eventually it probably falls apart over mexico but belize probably a problem. if you're led to cancun you might still be able to get there but i would check with your airline and your hotel. 84 mostly sunny and nice today. low humidity. tomorrow sunny, nice, 84. another nice one. day baseball at citizens bank park tomorrow. and then a little more warm and humid on frida friday as hee head up into musikfest in bethlehem. 86 is the high. taking out the chance of a thunderstorm on friday night. if you have tickets to musikfest or you feel like going up there and hanging out it's a good night to do that, just a little muggy. hotter and humid on saturday way possible thunderstorm at times a high of 90. sunday though the front is gone and we see the humidity begin to lower during the day. lots of sun and it also looks good this morning because traveling through chester county, they have arrived. our three lanes along 202 northbound. we've been waiting five years for this as they've been working. [applause] >> even a round of applause. as they have been working to widen 202. it is a relief for a lot of drivers. we expect that normal northbound delay that we used to see here between the 30 bypass and 401 to vanish, at least mostly, hopefully in the mornings starting today with that third lane opened. we'll be watching it but, yeah, i believe that most of that volume is going to ease out, it's going to space out over that third lane. southbound you got the third lane yesterday so good to go there on 202 but unfortunately it's not all good news in chester county. we are watching a motorcycle crash this morning in caln township that's blocking 113 uwchlan avenue by north wood cemetery. norwood road would be an alternate around 113. and more not so great news in chester county. today the route 29 closure in schuylkill township was supposed to end. no, not going happen. that construction has been delayed so now august 26th is your new end date on that. and the 252 closure in valley forge national park was supposed to end at the end of july. that didn't happen either. now they're saying the end of the year for that 252 closure so some of these projects are being delayed unfortunately. here in cherry hill this is 70 at haddonfield road by the wegmans and the cheesecake factory. up ahead other eastbound side by cooper landing there's some construction but that should be wrapping up in just about 15 minutes. time for the commuter report brought to you by the waze app. one of our friends in bucket mansfield township talking about a crash along the new jersey turnpike southbound in the car lanes. that's where you have six lanes to get by so at this point that crash is not causing a big delay. nydia. >> all right, matt thank you. two men who referenced recent police killings during a traffic stop have been arrested in massachusetts. kelvin mendoza and emmanuel rodriguez were pulled over in salem. police found two guns and a police scanner app on a cell phone. officers became concerned the pair was monitoring their activity. the district attorney's officers says there was no specific plot or threat to kill police. mendoza told them he had been discharged from the military and diagnosed with bipolar disorder. rescuers saved multiple people from monsoon flooding in the phoenix area. pictures show one of the cars that got swept into the river. strangers chased the car and helped pull the driver to safety. one of those good samaritans only 12 years old. witnesses who watched the car get washed away say they have no idea how far it floated. >> an umpire made an unusual call at the phillies game last night telling a fan you're outta' here. an unruly man got bootd from citizens bank park during the sixth inning. home plate umpire bob davidson interrupted the game to make that call. listen in to the play by play announcers. >> he is actually going to eject a fan. when was the last time you saw that happen? >> davidson says the fan heckled him for two straight batters yelling all the way from 14 rows up. davidson then joked his actions drew applause from the crowd something he says he he rarely hears here in philadelphia. >> construction crews have not been on vacation. they were working overnight along macdade boulevard. these are the ramps that connect it with the blue route. everything is reopened. they just cleared out. but of course our train headaches from july linger into august and already this morning we are seeing some septa regional rail delays on the airport line and the paoli thorndale line but at least swallowed up part of their property and news crews were there as even more of the ground gave way. len and ray mckay have been married for 51 years. they rebuilder their home in 2011 after severe floods. authorities think the sinkhole is due to an old mine tunnel collapse. imagine this in your garage. a colony of 100,000 bees. they're finally gone out of a garage in houston. the bees have been living there for two years. the homeowners say they had coped by avoiding the garage and backyard area for fear of getting sun. a pest control expert cut the walls where they found that the bees had builder honeycombs and they found both african and regular honeybees. he plans to bring all the bees to a bee farm and the family is just happy to have their yard and garage back. >> ♪ i'm hillary to show up for questioning. hours later however it was lovell of all people who posted curry's bond. curry faces lovell and two other challengers in tomorrow's republican primary. >> a nine-year-old gave his medical team at chop reason to be proud. zion harvey threw out the first pitch at last night's orioles-rangers game. he's first child in the world to undergo a double hand transplant. it happened at children's hospital of philadelphia last summer when he was two years old zion developed an infection that required his hands and feet to be amputated. his pitch impressed everyone at
