of the barricades this morning with help from other agencies philadelphia police set up metal barriers and used trash trucks and police vehicles to block roadways and officers were ready to control running 5.5 degrees above average in temperatures, this making it the eighth straight month in a row where the monthly temperatures are above normal. but even as warm as it has been the snowfall today. he used his first visit to talk policy and strategy at the first republican retreat. he called on fellow republicans to create great and lasting change and spoke in broad termed about tax reform and immigration and trade. president trump touched on the widely debunk claim that millions of people voted illegally in the last election. >> we need to keep the ballot box safe from illegal voting. and believe me you take a look at what is registering folks they like to say trump trump trump. take a look at what is registering. we are going to protect the integrity of the ballot box. all of us -- >> now as the president was speaking inside the loews hotel protesters were chanting and marching in the streets outside. sara bloomquist live now intenter city with more. seems to be growing at 13th and market where the leadership is meeting, there is still a large police presence here and they have the garbage trucks up in the street and market is closed from city hall. no pedestrian traffic and no traffic getting through either. earlier the protest today was quite large and those that took part had all kinds of messages they want the president and gop to hear. hundreds of people demonstration at broad street at city hall so around the area expect big delays and pedestrian traffic and 13th is shut down at market and 11th and juniper and 12th at chestnut and arch. and heave yes pedestrian traffic and you cannot park on these. and heavy travel as well on the majors and on mass transit a problem as well the 13th street station is closed because of the republicans in town and the presidential visit. the market frankford line and trolleys closing at 13th street station, the septa buses are seeing detours and a delay on the route 10 trolley. delayed because of an accident at at this hour. >> an explosion inside a manhole injured a montgomery county woman today and the explosion happened underground at the intersection of ardmore just after 6:00 a.m. the force of that blast blew the lid off the manhole and then it hit the woman in the ankle and it knocked out power for local reads and businesses but they have just restored service within the hour and it's not yet clear what caused this explosion. >> 22-year-old dillon valenti made an appearance in court after stealing a car in broomall with a baby in the backseat. the parents were cited for leaving the child is moving in. as we look at stormtracker 6 live double scan that precipitation from this morning is long gone to the east and the clouds broke apart this afternoon and not tracking any precipitation as we go through the independent of the week. the almanac for today. we hit a high of 55 degrees, well above that normal of 40 degrees, the record though 74 and even the low this morning. 42 degrees when we should be sitting in the middle 20s and take a look at that 55 and look at the normal of 40. here is good news, for those that don't like the depths of winter, the heart of winter climate speaking the coldest stretch is typically january 5th to january 26 and today so starting tomorrow the normal highs start to go back up through the rest of the winter season. 36 in allentown as well as reading and the windchills are backing off to the west. feels like 41 in philadelphia and still 50 to the south and these numbers continue to fall overnight tonight. there are the showers earlier this morning long gone and seeing a decent amount of sunshine and especially south of philadelphia, more clouds to the north and west and any of these snow and rain showers, near the u.s. and canadian border in western pennsylvania will kind of fall apart overnight. for tonight partly cloudy and colder and 36 degrees for center city and the winds remain rather breezy between 10 and 20 miles per
