reassuring parents in chester county that their students are safe at school. they say recent threats were unfounded. police started looking into phone records and social media sites after hearing rumors about violence planned at coatesville high school. today the superintendent sent a letter home to parents. it explains that authorities are committed to school security and fully investigating any threats. >> police in western pennsylvania are mourning the loss of one of their own today. westmoreland county officials say officer lloyd read was killed saturday while responding to a call about a domestic dispute. investigators say read exchanged gunfire with a plan who refused drop his hunting rifle. state police say the officer came in as backup. >> they went there to help us which that's the bond of brotherhood in our area and pretty much all over the country. when there's distress that's happening, maybe it's not your area but you're still going to go and try and help. >> now, officer reed was wearing a protective vest but the bullet hit him from the side which is not covered. the suspect 31-year-old ray scheffler is under police guard at a hospital because of a gunshot wound much he's he's being clamped with murder. >> breaking news from colorado. the man accused of opening fire at a planned parenthood just went before a judge. 57-year-old robert dear appeared via video feed. he will be held without bond until his next hearing which is scheduled for next week. dear is accused of shooting three people in the attack friday afternoon and three people from there shooting died. people who know him say dear lived a troubled isolated life in the carolinas and colorado. but never hinted at targeting the organization. meanwhile we are also hearing more from family and friends of the victims. among them the brother of an iraq war veteran. >> he called 911 and those are some of his last moments. he tried to get back inside and warn the others, you know, take cover, military instinct, you know. >> reporter: what does that tell you about him? >> that's the big brother i know. >> the other two people killed were university police officer who tried to stop the attack and a mother of two who took friends to the clinic. nine others were injured in that attack. they are expected to fully recover. >> kind of a gray monday out there as we get a first check a lot of clouds, it's damp out here and storm tracker6 live double scan showing that there is rain that is slowly pushing up to the north and the easter from the south. that's where the warm front that will continue to push closer to us as we head through the day tomorrow. as we zoom in there are a few showers actually hitting the ground. chadds ford just to the south there just crossing route 47, newark delaware, a few showers and this whole system will slowly push up to the north as we head through the evening hours. temperatures right now, definitely on the cool side. philadelphia 46 degrees. if you look, though, south of that warm front, it's balmy. charleston is 74, savannah 73 degrees. we will not get that warm but as the warm front pushes to the north tomorrow, temperatures will climb back into the 50's. so, this is what to expect the next 24 hours. rain arriving from the south to the north. in philadelphia between about 9 o'clock and 10 o'clock this is when the raindrops will begin to hit the surface. the morning commute will be wet. temperatures much milder, though, into the upper 50's and then i'm tracking a cold front that will bring us a soaking heavy midst of the busy holiday shopping season upper darby police are trying to help shoppers avoid scams. the township police station is a safe transaction zone. they'll not offer any legal advice or settle disputes between buyers and sellers but they're hoping that the presence of law enforcement and cameras will prevents crimes linked to online exchanges. >> we do not get involved in any way shape or phenomenon. there's no cost attached to it although it is about safety of community members. >> now the safe zone includes the lower front lobby of that police station and the curbside in front of the building. it is opened seven days a week from 8:00 in the morning until 8:00 at night. >> with black friday behind us shoppers turning to their computers to bargain hunt. it's cyber year was a record breaking day for amazon 43 million items ordered. they expect to do more business today. there's a surge in online sales everywhere as more and more people look to computers and cell phones to do their shopping. >> i'i brought because the some stuff last week. today there's a couple really good deals out there so i'm going to buy some stuff. >> reporter: at this starbucks in hamilton township jim woo was shopping on line at target for a microwave oven. >> took me a good 10 minutes to get on here. now that i'm on here i got bionomy waited this long. target's web site crashed because of the number of shoppers. these sisters were heading to a k-mart store but plan to shop online later tonight. >> when i tried to go on early in the day there's such an overload on the computers that it's hard to get through. wait a little while after those early shoppers get on then i'm going on. >> reporter: while the internet explodes there are still those who want nothing to do right here and it's blocking the ramp from market street eastbound to the southbound lanes of 95 which are these right here. traffic in the main lanes on 95 doing okay but again the ramp from market street eastbound to 95 southbound is closed in olde city because of that truck that's stuck on this monday afternoon. so, what do you do? head up to the vine street expressway, take that east to 95 south instead. this is the vine. just a little bit of westbound slowing approaching the schuylkill expressway. vine street expressway will close again each night this week in both directions between the schuylkill and broad street. so, watch out for that starting at 11 o'clock. meanwhile we're watching a crash this afternoon in northern delaware. it's along 41, newport gap pike at loveville road. stick with 48. that could be a good alternate. changes took effect yesterday on septa's route 23 bus. it now only runs between chestnut hill and center city along germantown avenue and 12th street and then a new route, route 45, runs between center city and south philadelphia. so, you still have the service but with some different numbers there. let's grab the ipad do the commuter report on this president obama and other world leaders attained climate change conference in paris. the goal is to reach global deal to cut carbon emissions. much of the conversation has been overshadowed about the ongoing threat the terrorism. paris is on lockdown during the summit which comes two weeks after the attacks by isis. president obama visited the bataclan theater to pay tribute to the victims. he also praised city leaders and residents for refusing to live in fear. >> salute the people of paris for insisting this crucial conference go on. an act of defines that proves nothing will deter us from building the future we want for our children. >> the president's remarks came at the beginning of a two-week negotiation to finalize an agreement aimed at stopping global warming. well, while at the summit in paris president obama took time to meet with russian president vladimir putin for half an hour. president obama expressed condolences for the russian pilot who died when turkey shot down the plane along its border but he's also urging putin to decrease the building tension that situation created. >> jury selection is under way in baltimore for the first police officer going to trial for his alleged role in freddie gray's death. this morning all 75 potential jurors told the judge they already knew of the case. officer william porter is facing charges including manslaughter and assault. moon while a group of protestors made their voices heard outside the courtroom. gray's death while in police custody prompted widespread protests and rioting across the city in april. we are just learning police have arrested someone late this afternoon in connection to a threat that shut down the university of chicago campus. the u.s. attorney's office isn't saying anything about the specifics of the arrest. other than that charges are pending. officials canceled classes and all activities today after the fbi came across a threat posted online mentioning gun violence. >> ♪ >> donald trump is stirring more controversy today over his claims that an influential group of black clergy planned to endorse him. the republican presidential frontrunner was expected to meet with about 100 black evangelical leaders today. that meeting did happen and it was organized by his campaign but many of those who planned to attend were angry that it was being billed as an endorsement when they say they had no plans to support him. trump now says they were pressured out of it because he believes "all lives matter." on the democratic side of things hillary clinton has a billionaire investor hitting the campaign trail on her behalf. warren buffet is set to be with clinton at a campaign stop in nebraska next month. they're expected to talk about the need for tax reform and income equality. buffet has been a clinton fan for some time now. he contributed to both her campaign and super pac in recent months. >> the federal reserve is changing its policy about bailing out failing companies like they did during the 2008 financial crisis. the fed governors voted to down size their emergency lending powers. now individual firms like banks and insurance companies will not get loans if they're failing. only broad lending programs to revive frozen markets will be allowed. here's a look at today closing numbers. starting the week all red arrows across-the-board. the dow down nearly 79 points the nasdaq down nearly 19 and the s & p 500 down 10. >> oklahoma is starting to thaw out after this week'd ice storm that left hundreds of thousands of people without power. and low pressure moves up to our north and west so we get the warm sector of the storm. so that means we have rain. we don't have isothat's the good news. the bad news is we're in touch for some dreary days the next two days so double scan live showing that we are beginning to get some showers breaking out south of philadelphia, not really much but light showers moving through west chester chadds ford newark delaware. there's more down to the south that will be moving up as we head through the evening hours. today on the cool side but not many. we've only had five days this november with afternoon highs below normal. those are the days in blue. the days in gray when we were right on target but look at all the orange. those were days temperatures above normal. so, november ending out five and half degrees above normal so that means this november our second warmest on record for philadelphia. third warmest for allentown. sixth warmest for wilmington and atlantic city this november ranking the eighth warmest on record. association top 1so top 10 acro. allentown 44, wilmington 45. you get closer to the coast the ocean temperature 53. that does have an impact on the air temperature. cape may 52 and the atlantic city airport 50 degrees. satellite6 along with action radar showing you can see these showers down to the south. that's associated with a warm front that will slowly be pushing our way through the day tomorrow. so that will bring us periods of generally light rain and drizzle. 11 o'clock you can see that light rain is here. weak low pressure develops off the coast and that means the morning commute more light rain. as we head through the day we do get a break in the action late in the day and during the evening tomorrow but then low pressure along a cold front will be moving in on wednesday. wednesday will really be the wet day with that soaking rain. 11 o'clock you can see that heavy rain right over us and that continues right into the afternoon. association this iafternoon. so this is what to expect the next two days. periods of rain. all of a sudden rain on wednesday we're looking at a pretty good soaking one to 2 inches of rain but temperatures will be in the 50's and 60's so we will not be getting ice like they had in oklahoma. so that's the good news. so the four day at 4:00 showing tomorrow periods of rain generally we're talking about light rain with a high of 57 degrees. on wednesday that's when we get that steady soaking but look at that high up to 61 degrees. then a cold front moves through and that clears us out on thursday, breezy and temperatures lil little bit cooler than wednesday but still above normal, 52 degrees and friday should be a beautiful day, mostly sunny with a high of 52 degrees. so, people may be tempted to complain about the weather the next two days but if you look at what they were dealing with in oklahoma we can handle rain. >> not so bad. >> it will be liquid not frozen. especially if you're shopping online but conventional theft is a concern as well when you're shopping at local shops and malls but there are some measures at your disposal to make sure your shopping experience is a pleasant one. jerry hunt visiting the delaware valley from dublin ireland says after traveling and shopping around the world, he has learned his lesson about leaving his bags unattended. >> i've had quite a few experience with bags going manufacturing not watching them closely enough. >> reporter: and so with the christmas shopping season in full swing malls across the region have increased their security measures to keep would be grinches at bay. at the king of prussia mall that includes offering customers rides to their parked cars on weekends and holidays. >> if a customer needs a courtesy shuttle escort if they're loaded down or they just feel that they don't want to walk a long distance to their car all they have to do is stop by guest services and ask for if you decide to leave purchased items in your car, use some common sense put them in the trunk where potential thieves can't see them. that goes with other suggestions like keeping your bag with you when in line at the food court and keeping your wallet in your front pocket in case. shoppers say being vigilant gives you piece of mind it's just unfortunate you have to be vigilant. >> i wish it was shuttle service to the parking lot is available on weekends and holidays but if you want a security officer to walk you to your car that service is available all year round every day. reporting live from king of prussia, walter perez channel6 "action news." >> walter thank you. embattled pennsylvania attorney general kathleen kane is preparing for a news conference at the national constitution center. that will happen tomorrow. kane said they will name a special prosecutor to lead the investigation into what's being called porn gate. a team will calm public e-mail accounts on government computers in search of lewd messages allegedly exchanged between prosecutors judges and other officials. kane is currently running her office while she has a suspended law license as she fights criminal charges. last week a special committee recommend they had state senators start a process that could result in her removal. new jersey transit is testing a new policy that prevents homeless people from seeking shelter at some of its stations including atlantic city and newark. under the pilot program only ticketed passengers can sit in the waiting rooms and they can only stay for up to two hours. homeless advocates say the plan invites selective enforcement and pushes people onto the streets but a new jersey transit spokesperson says the goal is to make sure that ticketed customers have someplace to sit while they wait for the rides they paid for and the agency says it is a full-time social worker on staff to help people as they need it. >> turning to the forecast now, 30.34-inches and falling. so, double scan live showing the rain associated with a warm front that is slowly lifting up to the north and that will overspread the rain into our region. the light rain this evening and really through the day tomorrow but you know we could use the rain. november 2015 was warm and was dry. temperatures running five and a half degrees above normal. our second warmest november on record and we received less than 2-inches of rain so that's more than an inch below normal and the next two days we could get one to 2 inches of rain. i'll have details on the timing of satellite6 along with action radar showing the clouds are here and the moisture is beginning to move in. you see this arc of rain. that's all with a warm front. the actual warm front is right on the border of south and north carolina and this will slowly be creeping up as we head through the day tomorrow. so tonight that rain will be arriving from the south to the north, real light rain. temperatures really holding steady not dropping much at all. 40 degrees in the cooler suburbs about 43 degrees for center city so a relatively warm night. future tracker showing that light rain has overspread our region. by midnight and tomorrow will be a damp start. i don't expect a lot of heavy rain but pockets of showers around 7:30 and that will continue on and off through the day a little bit of a break for the evening commute and then on wednesday this is when the cold front will be approaching, low pressure developing along that and that will bring us the shrug of some pretty heavy rain around 7 o'clock, definitely a wet morning commute and that will intensify as we head into the early afternoon hours on wednesday. so, future tracker showing we need the rain, we're going get it. generally anywhere from about an inch to 2-inches of rain by wednesday evening and the bulk of this will be falling on wednesday. so, the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast periods of rain tomorrow. suspects are a man and a woman and in one of the incidents they got away with the victim's cash. "action news" reporter vernon odom is live along east passyunk avenue with the full story tonight. vernon. >> reporter: good evening, sharrie and rick. the robber never actually brandished a gun police say but he did flash what apparently was a fake police badge and it has shaken up a lot of folks here in south philadelphia. >> i could believe it. anything goes. i believe it. >> reporter: not surprised. >> not surprised one bit. reaction to the robbery here early sunday morning in the 1600 block of east passyunk by a man impersonating a plainclothes policeman who flashed a fake badge and proceeded to rifle a man's wallet for the $14 he carried. police are scouring the neighborhood for surveillance video that could lead to the culprits. police say he was a white male in his mid 30's to early 40's accompanied by a stocky built white female. >> male has a badge around his neck or he displays a badge to the victims in this case and identifies himself as a police officer. so, it's very, you know, disturbing to us. we're trying right now to get video. >> reporter: police believe same pair struck two hours earlier in the 400 block of jackson. they got nothing. the targeted victim bolted and ran police say. the imposters
