held another memorial vigil tonight. >> reporter: thelma brown was released from the hospital earlier this evening, she has not seen this large memorial yet but a large welcome home celebration was weighting for her. >> 69-year-old thelma brown is home and back on her porch, around the corner from allentown and allegheny avenues where she almost lost her life. >> saw a car coming toward her, some say the car had gone that way and you go that way. >> the woman remembers setting up the fruit stand with her neighbors from across the street, keesha williams and her three children and then they saw the suv coming towards them and we know it was fleeing carjackers losing control. >> i screamed help me, help me but i saw those guys jump that fence and ran. >> we reported that the matriarch of hilton street was helping the family. the grandmother of 11 thought of williams's kids as her own. >> she walked them to school and picked them up from school every day. even when she went to the store she had the kids with her. >> she was thankful that the suspected carjackers were caught. and at the memorial motorcycle groups had another large vinl ill for the victims walking to brown's home. it was brown that live aid powerful message. god showed everyone around here what is in store and what you can do to help other people. i thank god i am still here. >> reporter: the mother of those children is still critical in the hospital tonight, brown says she is going to need a lot of help when she is released and she'll be right here to do just that. kenneth moton, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. a delaware county community came out tonight to mourn theresa hunt, the prn killed in the mercy fitzgerald shooting last week. she was killed by richard plotts, and it was a shame she was killed in a job where she tried to help people. >> it's difficult what we face in society and the difficulty that these case workers have every day. >> she was a resident of port richmond but tonight her viewing and funeral were held in havertown, and a stabbing in center city late tonight senone person to the hospital with a knife wound to the chest. police are trying to sort out what led to the violence at 24th and chestnut just 24 hours ago. a man was led away in handcuffs but detectives have not identified that individual. two homes are considered uninhabitable after a car crashed into a retaining wall. it happened on hudson street and vest gatders do not know why the driver lost control. one person died in an accident that closed the pennsylvania turnpike for some six hours, chopper 6 hd was above the scene in wallace township, west of the downingtown exit. the accident sent two others to the hospital and the highway reopened just an hour ago. the authorities have launched their investigation into a criminal suspect by philadelphia police today. live at central detectives is reporter dann cuellar, what is the latest here? >> reporter: jim, detectives from central detectives is conducting infernal affairs investigation. the police were investigating a shooting and got involved in a shooting themselveses. >> "action news" was there when one of the alleged gunmen was taken into custody. it began before 4:00 on the 1100 block of paige at the strawberry mansion section. the man had been shot four times and was rushed to pennsylvania hospital. >> about a half hour later, we received information that the shooter from the job ran into the house two blocks away. they rushed to the 3200 block of paige and surrounded the house in question to prevent anyone from fleeing the scene. that is when one of the alleged gunmen left the house, he pointed the gun at police and police discharged it at this individual striking them one time at the abdominal area. at last report was undergoing surgery. the 22nd district officer involved turned his weapon over to supervisor and they counted the remaining bulletses in the clip and it's unclear if the suspect fired any bullets at officer. >> no motive is known at this time, it's just the beginning of the investigation. >> reporter: and at last word the alleged gunman and victim are reported to be in critical and stable condition. the officer did not wrong, he has been placed on desk duty which is routine when an officer is involved in a shooting this pending the outcome of the investigation. dann cuellar, channel 6 "action news." the father accused of punching a wawa customer store looking at his daughter is free on bail tonight. 45-year-old gary edwards was arrested and charged with assault and disorderly conduct. the 47-year-old victim was treated forehead wounds, at the wawa on paterson avenue. six officers are arrested for shaking down and beating drug suspects over seven years, they say that the six officers used gang land tactics and threats to extort enormous sums of cash and cocaine. they are being held without bail and commissioner ramsey says it's one of the worst corruption scenes he has ever seen and the crimes have a terrible impact. >> words don't describe the degree in which this has brought discredit upon not only the individual officers but their families, the police department, the entire city and the professional of policing. >> most of the officers face at least a seven year mandatory prison distance if they are convicted. a former coatesville cop will have to pay $74,000 in restitution for stealing money from his fellow officers, from the police benevolent league and out of a police locker. he is sentenced up to 23 months in prison and is eligible for release in three, the former detective wrote checks to himself and forged signature while serving as treasurer of the police benevolent fund. they say that israeli artillery shells killed 15 children and wounded 90 others at a u.n. refugee school. a u.n. representative condemned the israeli assault. >> children were killed as they slept next to their parents on the floor of a classroom at a u.n. designated shelter, this is an affront to all of us a source of universal shame, today the world stands disgraced. >> meanwhile wounded civilians were rushed to the hospital at a palestinian market. hamas says that 16 people were killed and this is the second straight day of particularly heavy israeli shelling, and peace effortses in egypt are so far proven to be unsuccessful. it's peace corps is evacuated 33 volunteers because of the ebola outbreaks. >> sharrie williams is live at the big board, they are calling this the largest in history and there is no vaccine?
