It is hard to overestimate sniders influence, on the local sports scene. He came to philadelphia, in 1964 as a part owner of the eagles. But when the nhl announced they were going to expand from the original six teams, snider wanted in and thus was born the orange and black. He created spectrum, created spectacor, established prism which became Comcast Sports net, bought wip, built wells fargo center, ran the sixers but none of that may be sniders most important legacy. The Youth Hockey Program in this City Rec Center in cobbs creek is profoundly built up when ed sniders Youth Hockey Program came aboard in a partnership ten years ago. The it is one of five programs in city recollect sents cross the city. Only thing he has attached his name too. So he is told us that he wanted it to be his legacy. Reporter in the beginning it was all about teaching inner city youth about hockey but it evolved quickly into more, much more. And 3,000 kid, now participating a week. 1900 after school each day, and, tom brown has been with the snider Program Since 06. I react to this program not just involving hockey is, you know, vital and very important, you know, just progression of young peoples mind. Weve involved. We have now added a very solid educational component designed to keep our kid on track for on time graduation. I have been benefiting more from the program off ice then difficult on ice. They taught me life schools like leader ship, sport man ship. A team of Emergency Responders was able to free a 12 yearold boy who got stuck waist deep in the mud behind his house tonight. He had been there for hours.
