center in philadelphia, this is cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> the search is over tonight after a harrowing 36 hours. authorities discover the body of suspected mass murderer brad stone. good evening, i'm jessica dean. >> and i'm chris may. on monday, one by one, stone killed six members of an extended family that are now grieving the loss. dead are his ex-wife nicole stone, joanne gilbert who is nicole's mom and pat hill, nicole's grandmother. stone attacked stone's nephew anthony flick who survived but he killed nina flick, a niece, eric john flick nicole's brother-in-law. tonight todd quinones is at a vigil in souderton where they're all being remembered. todd. >> reporter: chris, here tonight the immediate thoughts and prayers of course are with anthony flick who remains hospitalized this evening in serious condition. >> ♪ >> reporter: the devastating loss being felt here is hard to calculate. there were tears hugs and questions. the murder of 14-year-old nina flick and stabbing of her 17-year-old brother anthony who fought to protect her are more than some can take. >> our hearts are broken. our communities are broken. >> after lunch i would go upstairs and i would see nina there and we would always sit there and talk but now that's not going to happen. just depressing. >> reporter: outside nina and anthony's home more gathered to light candles and lay flowers down on the front porch. early monday morning 35-year-old accused killer bradley stone entered the flick's home murders their father and mother. >> very hard to grasp what actually happened here. i mean, you just can't believe it. >> reporter: many of nina classmates wore batman symbols at souderton high school. >> she always said she would be batman some day and to me she always has been. >> reporter: at the vigil all six victims were remembered. >> we know that god is with us and he's going to get everybody through this. it's just going to be a long haul. >> reporter: many are struggling with my stone would kill. >> i know friends that have been friends with him for a long time. this was not him. >> reporter: beyond the grief and sense of loss there is purpose. many of flick's friends started a on line fund for anthony hoping the money will help when he comes home. so far that site has raised more than $10,000 and also tonight there's an effort by the souderton telford rotary to establish a memorial fund for all of the victims. reporting live tonight in souderton, todd quinones for "eyewitness news" at 10:00 on the cw philly. >> todd thank you. bradley stone's body was found in the woods off of fourth street near schoolhouse road in pennsburg this afternoon right after 1:30. there is near stone's home at fourth and dotts. our david spunt is live at the suspect's home with new information on the investigation tonight. david. >> reporter: chris, all is quiet tonight in pennsburg. the woods where stone's body was discovered same with this house. i want to back out of the way. you can see right now nobody is inside. in fact, the door is boarded up after swat teams had to go inside yesterday during a frantic search. for the first time in two days, the streets of pennsburg are quiet. a candle on the front porch is the only light coming from bradley stone's house. >> we're really numb from what we've had to go through over the past two days. montgomery county district attorney risa vetri furman laid out the entire killing spree just a few hours after police found stone's body in these woods. furman says he stabbed himself to death a little over half a mile from his home. >> to have an event like this to really shatter the peace and tranquility of the community is very disturbing. >> reporter: after searching on foot in pennsburg for most of the morning, police quickly taped off the wooded area of schoolhouse road. neighbors watched from their front porches. >> now people can kind of relax a little more knowing they're not in danger anymore. >> reporter: just before 6 o'clock the coroner left with stone's body and police cleared the scene. we spoke to stone's next door neighbor who said he had many encounters with the former marine. >> he said he had some issues with his ex and the children were here for awhile and then i guess she took 'em back. >> reporter: now those children are without parents and officials say a top priority is protecting them. >> most importantly they are safe and they are secure. >> reporter: neighbors tell me that is what they are focused on, the children and the victims to make sure that they heal, those children heel. now, we are told that this investigation into the home is not finished yet. authorities still want to find out the big question, why. we are live tonight in pennsburg, david spunt, "eyewitness news" at 10:00 on the cw philly. >> david thank you very much. brad stone did have a history both in and out of the courtroom. >> "eyewitness news" investigative reporter david huffman dug through court records. >> reporter: the most recent photo of the iraqi war veteran doesn't imply a troubled past but court records show a different picture. a handful of dui's the first 2001. two years later in 2003 stone was back in court pleading guilty to another dui. last year same story. stone pled guilty to a dui after crashing his car. the sergeant with the marine corps reserve served about eight years. he had a tour in iraq where he was injured. court documents also show as of last year stone was continuing treatment at the va medical center for ptsd and related conditions and then there's evidence of app financial struggle. in january, stone was unable to pay $5,000 in court fines and a physician deemed him unemployable and totally disabled as a result of ptsd. court documents also show a custody battle with ex wife and shooting victim nicole stone in the week leading up to yesterday's killing spree. at stake the couple it's five and eight-year-old daughter. >> last week he made an effort to try to secure emergency custody of the children and that was den night. on facebook yesterday this from tomorrow. a man who doesn't fight for his kids is a sorrow full man. stone later married and now has an infant. most recently he's believed to have been living at this house that swat teams stormed yesterday in pennsburg. following stone's most recent dui he applied to a veteran treatment program and just last year the county judge accepted his application to that program saying that a group of people reviewed his application and determined that he was genuine about his desire to get help and treatment. charlotte huffman, "eyewitness news" on the cw philly. >> there were three crime scenes and the last one was in lansdale where nicole stone's mother and grandmother were found dead. our pat ciarrocchi spoke with joyce gorman a friend of nicole stone's grandmother pat hill and her mother joanne gilbert. they were fatally wounded and stabbed and side their house other 100 block of west fifth street. as a confidante gorman was privy to the family struggles. >> nicole's ex-husband was a very controlling person and he wandered to have i guess the last say in everything and he was always taking her back to court. when he was away in afghanistan she was pregnant with his second child. he was in denial that the child was his. nicky had a nervous break down at that time. >> gorman and hill work in the rehab unit at north penn hospital. hill was a breast cancer survivor. be sure to stay with "eyewitness news" for couple to stand trial on charges of assault. police say that fill him williams, kevin harrigan and katherine knott attacked that couple in center city last fall leaving one man with his jaw wired shut. well, today's preliminary hearing one of the victims testified that the attack was unprovoked and claimed that it started with cursing and gay slurs. the defense, though, contends there were words and punches thrown by both sides. >> a former colwyn police officer is in custody. he's accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriend's house, shooting her to death and wounding her teenaged daughter. this was there scene in glenolden last night. police say steven woznikowski after being served with a protection of abuse order. >> two more philadelphia lawmakers caught up in an undercover sting. state representatives vanessa brown and ronald waters were indicted today. philadelphia da seth williams says both the democrats took bribes. brown allegedly accepted $4,000, waters $9,000. >> both officials personally appeared before our grand jury and fully, i repeat fully admitted that they knowingly took illegal cash payments. >> now these same undercover sting ensnared former traffic judge thomasine tynes. earlier this month she was sentenced to two years in jail. >> radnor police say eight people wanted for crimes walked right into their custody. offers sent them fake letters telling them they had unclaimed money but when the suspects arrived at the store front address to collect that money they were arrested. these people were wanted for outstanding fines, dui's theft or burglary. some didn't realize it was a trick even after the handcuffs went on. >> they were taken into custody, we were walking out then asked the question if they were still going to get the check, could they use that towards their bail in a very serious manner. >> out of the eight people arrested, five paid off fines. two are out on bail and one person is still behind bars. radnor township police say this won't be the last time they orchestrate this kind of operation. overseas a violent attack orchestrated by the taliban. >> this time they target a school in pakistan. we'll have that storm a school. >> they killed more than 140 children and teachers before government troops killed them. more than 100 wounded victims flooded hospitals in the city of peshawar. funeral services were already being held tuesday night for children who went to school in the morning and never returned. they're surviving classmates described what they saw. [speaking foreign language] >> she says we were doing our schoolwork. suddenly we heard firing and the teacher told us not to be afraid that maybe it was a drill. >> this is any other the first time the taliban has attacked school children in pakistan. in 2012 the same faction claimed responsibility for shooting education activist malala yousafzai. >> in sydney, sydney australia flowers. australia's prime minister today acknowledged that the nation's security system failed to keep track of the gunman. he had stalked the families of soldiers killed in afghanistan and was facing charges of accessory to murder. but despite all that, he was free on bail and he was not on any terror watch list. on the health watch tonight it is true men have a harder time fighting the flu. new research shows in there flu vaccine is more effective in women than in men. so, when women do get the flu, the study finds their bodies are better at fighting off the virus. emergency room doctor jake deutsch says it could be a side benefit of estrogen. >> the female mice who produce estrogen activate add particular enzyme and that enzyme is able to help them fight infection. >> now doctors do say this revelation could lead to a new immune boosting drug with estrogen for men. >> new tonight a layaway angel stuns holiday shoppers central pennsylvania. a man walked into a store in cumberland county and dropped off a check for $50,000 and that was enough cash to pay off the layaway balances for 100 people. the donor didn't want his name to be revealed. he said he should just be called santa b. >> hm. in weather tonight we have some light rain, we have drizzle, we have fog and that's going to linger at least for the next couple of hours. toward dawn we're going to clear it out but for now temperatures are still very mild across the delaware valley. we're going to start off in pennsylvania where barbara is saying in willow grove not much wind but still seeing the drizzle. the temperature is 45 degrees. to the north of that area, still 45 and irwin is saying in doylestown not much wind. the relative humidity almost maxed out with light rain. rainfall just about a tenth to .2 of an inch of rain. not a lot of rain. in glenmoore pa robert is saying the temperature is 44 degrees, light rain since 12:30 this afternoon. enough already. and it will come to an end but if you though we're watching this fog. a lot of moisture out there in center city philadelphia. we can't see our beautiful skyline tonight because of that poor visibility. on storm scan3 there's still more moisture to move on through. not a lot of rain but some pesky showers and sprinkles to the north and west that will be moving through overnight tonight. a cold front will move through and that will dry out the atmosphere and get rid of the fog but look at these visibilities. down to a third of a mile in the poconos, .8 in allentown, half a mile in lancaster and only a mile in trenton. quakertown, northeast philadelphia a mile visibility, pottstown only 1.3 miles so if you're driving this evening it will continue to be an issue. right now in philadelphia fine, the same in millville, atlantic city, dover. milder air sitting over us and some mild air to the south but this is very interesting. it is warmer right now in philadelphia than it is in atlanta, birmingham and nashville. even raleigh. that's something to say for this time of year. you can see the cold out through the northern plains. that will get here in a couple days. in the wake of this front it stays mild even on wednesday. winds will be gusting to 30 miles an hour but we'll see the sun and temperatures will be around 50. then the colder air will finally move in. it's a day late but that's okay. more sun for thursday, mostly sunny highs in the 40's. staying chilly for friday but at least it stays sunny. wednesday temperatures in the 50's, westerly winds will gust to about 30 miles an hour. then finally relax after the sun sets. as we look ahead after that, all eyes will be on this, a developing area of low pressure, a coastal storm that could bring a little wet snow to the north and west, a little rain south and east of philadelphia saturday night into sunday. that would be the best time period if this comes to fruition. another model will come in overnight and of course kate fehlinger will have the very latest tomorrow morning beginning at 4:30 on cbs3 and then on the cw at 7:00 a.m. overnight light rain drizzle and fog the low 42. then clearing skies tomorrow 52 with sunshine and breezy conditions and as we look ahead on the exclusive eyewitness weather seven-day forecast temperatures in the 40's and staying there until further notice. saturday it clouds up. sunday eyeing that coastal system. monday and tuesday quiet but as we look ahead we'll talk more about this tomorrow. there is a chance for snow on christmas eve. >> oh. >> what. >> yeah. >> it's pretty cool. we'll talk
