Heavy machinery, demolition process under way. Cleanup after yesterdays deadly explosion. Thats the latest live here in borough park. Im Sheldon Dutes, today in new york. Okay, sheldon. Thank you. Meantime this morning, Governor Cuomo says this brooklyn blast is the latest in what he calls a disturbing trend. Thats why hes ordering the state department of Public Service to launch an investigation. Back on march 26th, a gas line at a sushi restaurant exploded. Two men were killed. Initial evidence showed signs of physical tampering with the gas lines or meters. The buildings owners may have been siphoning gas. The east village explosion came just one year after a similar blast that killed eight people in east harlem. Ntsb investigators say a poorly crafted pipe joint and an old sewer line caused the gas line to break. Since this incident, the fdny has been given a much greater role in responding to reports of possible gas leaks. Also this morning, police are investigating a double murder investigators say gunfire erupted early this morning on vanderbilt avenue. Two men were shot, both of them pronounced dead at the hospital. Right now were told those victims are brothers. Also, an update right now on a Death Investigation at a Suffolk County bar. One man was taken to the hospital after a fight broke out. A terrifying accident involving a q113 bus sent 12 people to the hospital, some of them in serious condition. With a car then slammed into two other parked cars and crashed into a home. It happened at about 9 30 last night on south conduit and guy brewer boulevard. News 4 talked to a woman who lives in the home that was hit. I just heard a big explosion. The house started shaking. I smelled gas, so i was like, jade, lets get out, my little sister. Lets get out, take my nephew aiden, lets leave. So we forgot our keys and we were just standing out here asking what happened. We just saw a bus in our backyard, like literally. Not clear exactly at this point what caused the accident, but were told none of the injuries are life threatening. Morning, gus. A lot of trump today. A lot of trump. Hes on the show. I mean, hows his message evolving in terms of getting into details . Well, it was a battle on details when it came to paying for his tax plan, for instance. Its a 10 trillion to 12 trillion hole in the deficit. The question is where hes going to make up that ground. You know, i did my best to try to pin him down on some details, any agencies he would cut. Claims he can spend less on the military than we do today. As you know, gus, theres actually bipartisan support to increase the military budget of late, not to decrease it. Still, i think well be searching for details there. On what he says about the middle east is whats going to surprise people. No one has a position on the middle east. Nobody running for president on either side of the aisle has a position as youre going to hear from him in my interview later this morning. We heard from the president this week, visibly frustrated when talking about the shooting in oregon, promising once again to take action. Can that really happen in washington these days . You know, as far as a political debate, maybe. If the president himself wants to use the bully pulpit. He proves if he uses it, travels the issue, talks about the country nonstop for a while, he can create a sense of urgency in washington. Thats what happened after sandy hook. That is what it would take. I dont know if the politics of this change until the first time you ever finds an official who loses because they werent for gun control. Theres a long list of candidates who have lost because they were for gun control. The list of people who are against it who have lost is very, very short. And real quick here, chuck, joe biden running for president , yea or nay . If he announces in the next ten days, its a yea. The longer he waits, the more likely its a no. Chuck, thank you.
