a look at the forecast. a notable cooldown. josh: it's chilly out there. and that's caused as we had our dew points, a little bit of fog and particularly in the southwest of the state and very low visibility as you can see ih take a look at the temperatures in the lower 30's, in northern new hampshire and many other spots have been reporting low 30's as well. even parts of southwestern new hampshire and 36 in concord and keene and 35 in lebanon and the temperatures still dropping for the next hour or so. because of that, a freeze warning is in effect in northern new hampshire and coos county because of the clear skies, it's chilly out there. temperatures will rebound, but 50's to the north and lower 60's everywhere else. and how long this cooler air mass sticks around before things start to get milder again in your full forecast. amy: overnight, more protests in charlotte after police released the dash cam and body cam video showing the fatal encounter between keith scott and officers. the video we're about toho graphic and may be disturbing to watch and we're not showing the actual shooting. eva pilgrim is in charlotte with the latest. >> the final standoff as recorded by life. the new hampshire motor speedway in ours for the bad nascar's race for the chase. security always a big focus and in light of recent attacks around the country and a stabbing during a fight at the track friday night, officials are stepping up evidence. wmur's naoko funayama, good morning. >> good morning, amy, tens of thousands of people are expected at new hampshire motor speedway race at 2:00. police have been preparing months in advance for this, putting security protocols in place and they told us that the security plan here is going to be involving local police as well as state police along with homeland security and the fbi. there are added officers on hand this weekend. in fact, today, there are going to be more than 200 security personnel here creating a more visible presence. there was a fight on friday night that ended stabbed, but officials are not worried and most fans we spoke with say they feel safe and having a good time. now, the ticket booths open at 8:00 this morning along with a fan zone, kid zone and champions club. drivers introductions are at 1 and then at 2-- jr. and everyone is hoping to be kept safe. naoko funayama. amy: thank you. 10 years ago a memorial was created to honor new hampshire's fallen firefighters for their ultimate sacrifice. kristen carosa was there as six new names were added. >> the memorial was at the fire academy, created ten years ago to honor our fallen firefighters and to remember their service to their 85 names have been etched into the fallen firefighter memorial in concord and a flower was laid in each one. >> it's steeped in tradition and it's important for us and to show the families, what the sacrifices mean to us. >> six names were added this year, william whitney, milo judkins, francis driscoll, sr. clemens and waterbury. >> two firefighters died in the past year and we've found a few line of duty deaths we hadn't put on the memorial. >> family and friends gathered to remember their loved ones they may have lost this year or in years past. >> this is an amazing memorial. i've had the opportunity to travel across the country. this memorial is unique in its commitment, it's community. >> retired days of honoring the commitment of firefighters in every community. >> our volunteers serve some for absolutely no pay. as this memorial testifies, some pay the ultimate sacrifice. >> heidi packard lost her husband ten years ago at age 41. >> in 2006 he suffered a heart attack, after a call. >> fire marshall big duggan highlighted the importance not only of honoring the sacrifice >> custody. authorities say 20-year-old arcan cetin walked in a macy's and started shooting. officers say he opened fire in the makeup aisle and left the mall before police arrived. police say it's too early to rule out terrorism because the preliminary stages. scuffles broke out yesterday as activists are asking the crescent city to remove a statue. and four were connected to confederacy. and they will take down the statues that are not jackson, but it's held up in court. in washington d.c. yesterday, it's the smithsonian's 19th museum on the national mall. the new museum celebrates the art, life and history of some of the most influential black leaders. president obama opened it during a ceremony yesterday. former president bush and oprah winfrey were some of the guests. the drought is beginnings of twilight as it's a chilly 44 degrees in the lakes region and colder in other locations, even chillier, as you degrees. 35 in lebanon. 36 in keene, although larry -- actually several people in the keene area have told me that it's as low as 32. swansy 32 there. 32 in white field. it's a chilly start to the day as you can see there. let's take a look at some of your reports here. our weather spotter numbers are coming in in southeastern new hampshire in the upper lower 40's as we head into southwestern new hampshire, obviously, more areas with temperatures a little bit cooler. it's 33 in marlboro there. central new hampshire, we've got 33 degrees in some locations and as you can see, even cooler as we head to the north, so there's a very chilly start. believe it or not, we could actually see temperatures a couple of degrees cooler than this tomorrow morning. until 8:00. so it's a little bit under two advisories in interor-- interior new england. and not much to look at here in terms of clouds. it's well to the west we'll watch the front that will will steam toward us and moves in late monday night, early tuesday morning and that's our next changes for rain in this upcoming week, a look at the cool air t and with that in mind, it slowly gets nudged out of here for the next couple of days. today and tomorrow, looking cool, october-like temperatures before we get warmer and back above average again by mid and late week. that front, i told you, is going to be moving in our direction. we watched that front evolve and head toward us for tuesday morning. a close-up look here, at all of tonight, clear, as i mentioned. it will be breezy as well. lots of sunshine, but the cooler temperatures will be made to feel a little cooler than that, thanks to a breeze out of the northwest that will gust up to 20 or 25 miles per hour at times. monday, lots of sun and here comes tuesday with showers and even some downpours around in the morning and mid day hours of tuesday before this pulls away on tuesday afternoon. after that, a few question marks about the rest of the week that we'll show you on the seven-day forecast in just a moment. righ the 50's in northern new hampshire. that will be the highs and lower 60's elsewhere, for race time right around 61, 62 degrees, do you think, for the big race. and there's a look at the week ahead, best chance for rain is tuesday morning, and then after that, the chances. amy: those overnight amy: those extreme drought conditions in new hampshire are felt right now. josh: but the farmers who grow christmas trees, for them the dry year will result in long-term losses. wmur's adam sexton is in milford to explain why. >> it might seem early to start talking about the holidays. when it comes to christmas trees, this year's drought has been a griven. >> at miracle makers farm in milford. it would take divine intervention christmas trees that tried and failed to put down routes in this drought stricken summer. >> everything we planted this year, died. >> warmer david wheeler who serves on the executive county says the farm's above ground water supply gave out weeks ago and he's used a well to save two and three years growth. >> sometimes it's disappointed they never seem to get here. >> miracle acres started growing christmas trees in 1996 and survived a severe drought in 2000. >> this is probably twice as bad for us. i mean, we plant about a thousand trees a year and in 2000 we lost about 500 of those. and maybe in some the areas where the soil is shallower, here we just lost everything, the whole thousand we planted is dead. >> the rest of milford is feeling the heat, too. from the souhegan river. for the first time the town instituted water restrictions. >> this year we've seen the water levels decrease a foot and a half, two feet, we're not seeing the bounceback like we typically do. >> at miracle acres, they're hoping for the bounceback, sooner rather than attorney general's office is investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting in clairemont this morning. the clairemont police chief morning. the officer was not hurt, but at this point it's not clear what prompted the shooting. one person dead after an officer involved shooting in clairemont. stay with wmur for updated details on this breaking story. now this morning, someplace are investigating a fatal car crash that left route 12 closed for more than two hours last night in westmoreland. police say 52-year-old valentine was travelling on capron road and her car flipped. she suffered fatal injuries. police believe that speed and c alcohol may have been a factor. there are lots of people in the granite state and the race is very important for the drivers. delighted that welcome to new hampshire's business, i'm fred kocher. since the recession we have been looking at income and wages stagnant. now, new data from the census bureau, income is up across the country and in new hampshire. let's look at the household has one of the highest household incomes in the country. look at that, maryland, new jersey, california, connecticut, district of columbia, massachusetts and there is new hampshire and then in virginia and hawaii. with me to talk about this and revealing numbers on income, especially in new hampshire is russell thibeault, economic research out of laconia. >> great to be here. >> nice to have you back. >> thank you. >> the income numbers we're about to look at put up on the census bureau and show incomes are up. what's driving the increase in incomes? not only here in new hampshire, but generally. >> i think the main things and they're good looking numbers for a change. we have a lot more jobs. that means there's more workers per household that are bringing it into the household and it's bumping up. let's look at the u.s. median income and you can see the change. it a period from 2008 to 2015. that is indicative of income going up. comment? >> yeah, early on in this down turn, and even into the recovery, household income was dropping. people were losing ground relative to inflation. this year, median household since the recovery began that has shown up in the income numbers. >> this next graph shows it by category of income, lowest and medium and highest. what are we looking at. >> for a long time, most of the benefits have been fostered into the high income category. >> the low bar here. >> it grew at 2.9% and what is encouraging here. the lowest 10%. house households, had the highest income growth. the benefits are spreading across a broader spectrum of the households in the country. >> and now, new hampshire, pay attention to the next graph because this is significant. here is new hampshire total income has jumped by nearly 5 billion this year. and look at the three years. march of 2014 on the far left, and then in the middle. which is the increase. again. >> yeah, this helps everything, services and retail trade. the rate of income growth is twice as high this year as the prior years. what's finally happening, this recovery now seven or eight years in process is now coming b back. >> at the research center, good research comes out of the center as well as your they have the nationwide study that just came out that shows the middle class is in decline and stuck because of among other things income. >> that's true over the longer term, but this year says this is the first year in the recovery where the middle class has seen noticeable, measurable gains. we are chipping away at it, but no doubt that the middle class has lost ground. and the middle class is participating in this recovery for the first time. >> what in new hampshire. we showed that new hampshire income going up. what's particular to new hampshire, do you think, that might be indicative and special through new hampshire in terms of the reason for that going up? >> we have the lowest or second lowest unemployment rate in the country. so we've had a lot of job growth and our unemployment rate is going low. the number of workers is economic research. >> thank you, fred. >> if you want to look at the temperature only making it up into the 50's and lower 60's. so, certainly, a cooler start. around is 42. one of the warmer spots is 42 over at the seacoast. higher in some locations and also a lot lower. look at that, 32 degrees on our map for white field and 34 in berlin and 36 in keene. 35 in lebanon. it's chilly out there. there's freeze warnings in effect for coos counties and frost advisories in northern and western new england as well. the interior locations often more cold, especially some of the valleys, and a little bit of valley fog as well. otherwise, no clouds for the most part and we don't see anything until we look at the middle of the country. how often do you see that? the entire eastern part of the country is mostly clear this morning. and off to the west, that's the front moving in on tuesday morning early. so if you have tuesday morning plans, do plan on a pretty high high. it's high for a lot of sun today, but cool start out there, but eventually this warmer air will push on in. it's not that much warmer, but it will warm us up a little bit. back to a little above average this time of year, but not as warm as we've been seeing in recent week. this big turn toward fall weather that we took yesterday looks to stick for at least a little while. we'll see how long it lasts. that will day. full sunshine and hashedly any clouds, high, thin clouds. tonight, another chilly one. a couple of degrees cooler tonight than what we saw last night and then monday, more sunshine on the way for tomorrow. after the chilly start. it's sunny and temperatures into the mid 60's, tomorrow night into tuesday morning, there's a look at rain showers, it will be arriving and there could be downpours along with the rain through the morning hours and then it's departing during the clearing trend beginning to move in by mid afternoon on tuesday and back to sunshine again on wednesday. the chance of rain very high on tuesday, and then after that, there's some question marks. notice how thursday, friday, saturday, there's a big system that could move in and a lot of rain to stay away. a lot of question marks about that as it's at the end of the week. high temperatures today with breezy conditions into the lower 60's north country, and the extended forecast showing the temperatures remaining in the 60's for the next couple of days. 60's with with a look at the weekend forecast. hello, mr. judge. >> hello, amy, it's a chilly start no doubt. we've got freeze warnings for coos county in northern new hampshire and frost advisories for many parts of the state as well. clear skies, a nice sunrise underway and temperatures very crisp and cool and october-like. look at this, it's now fallen to 30 degrees in white field. our new number's coming in. and 30 in so many locations, 34 in concord. so it's a very chilly start and believe it or not, it may be a degree or two cooler. we get temperatures into the lower half of the 60's. it will be a beautiful day out more like october for today. we'll talk about how much longer the cool temperatures stick around and the rain headed our way and how much rain and when it arrives in your full forecast coming up. >> we are following breaking news this morning into our news room. in the past 30 minutes or so, the attorney general's office is investigated a deadly officer involved shooting in clairemont this morning. the clairemont police chief telling news 9 that a person was shot and killed on morning. the officers was not hurt. at this time it's not clear what prompted the shooting. again, one person is dead after an officer involved shooting in clairemont. overnight, more protests in charlotte after police released the dash cam and body cam of the officers. the video is graphic and may be shooting. the latest. >> in this dash cam, the final moments of the title standoff as recorded by police. keith ahmad skol is seeing exiting his vehicles, his hands down and then-- [gunshots] . >> we've got shots fired, one person down. >> an officer wields a baton in an apparent effort to get scott and scott is seen in the parking lot and then the 43-year-old is seen lying mortally wounded with guns drawn. officers appear to administer first aid. >> we need to hold the wound. >> police confirmed to abc news, this gun pictured at the scene is the gun they say they recovered from scott. >> based on the totality of what we see, he absolutely was in possession of a hand gone. what they say is scott's gun and an ankle holster, they say he was wearing. investigators say that testing on the gun police say they found at the scene allegedly matches his fingerprints or dead. and lawyers continue to cast doubt on the account. >> he doesn't lunge at the officers, appears he has his hand by his side. again, there's no definitive evidence in this video as to whether or object in his hand. >> the streets of charlotte swelled with protesters for a fifth night. the demonstration saturday remaining mostly peaceful. >> and the engines will roar to life at the new hampshire motor speedway in hours. this is the second race in nascar's race for the chase. security always a big focus and stabbing during a fight at the track. officials are stepping up efforts this weekend. naoko fun yama is live what what they're doing. >> tens of thousands of fans are expected to come to new hampshire motor speedway for the race this afternoon. it's now 2:00. police have been preparing for months leading up to the huge sporting event. they have to put the security protocols especially in light of the race. >> there are added officers on hand this weekend. today. there will be more than 200 security personnel here creating a more visible presence. there was a fight as you mentioned on friday night that ended with two people stabbed, but officials are not worried and most fans we spoke with this the ticket booths open at 8:00 this morning, take a look at the schedule be a fun day at the speedway and everyone should have a great time. amy: naoko, thank you. ten years ago, a memorial was created to honor new hampshire's fallen firefighters for their ultimate sacrifice. wmur's kristen carosa was in concord as six new names were added to the memorial. it was created ten years ago to remember their service to their communities. >> 85 names have now been etched into the fallen firefighter memorial in concord. on the 10th anniversary, a flower was laid for each one. >> the fire service is steeped in tradition. it's important for us, and important to show the families what the sacrifices mean to us. >> six names were added this year. william whitney, driscoll, sr. david david pipe and charles waterbury. >> two firefighters died over the last year, but over the years there were line of duty deaths we hadn't put on the mem memorial. >> and they honored those who they lost this year and in years past. >> this is an amazing memorial. i've had the opportunity to dedication and connection to its community. >> retired fire chief says the days of honoring commitment and firefighters in every community. >> our volunteers serve some for no pay and some pay the ultimate sacrifice. >> heidi packard last her husband ten years ago at age 41. >> in 2006 he suffered a heart attack after a call. >> heighting of fallen firefighters, but also looking back at what happened. >> unfortunately, they do occur, but we learn from each and every one of them how we can prevent not only the death, but the fire. if we can prevent the fire, we can be-- reporting in concord, kristen carosa, wmur news 9. recovering after being trapped in an abandoned friday well. they say it fell about ten feet and it was barking. crews were able to use a ladder and valleys and over some of the rivers and lakes, we're seeing fog around as you can see right here. southwestern new hampshire. we've got fog showing up in keene, airport, a lot of the valleys, through southern new the border there, you've seen that fog and the steam fog over the lakes is amazing with cold air over the comparably warmer waters of the lakes. a look now at the temperatures. it's chilly and already we're seeing the temperatures dipping down in some areas and beginning to rise know others. berlin up into the lower 40's. and whitefield went down to 30 degrees. an start out there and tomorrow morning, a couple of degrees cooler are likely. so it's going to be a cold start tomorrow morning when you get the kids off to the bus. 30's in new hampshire. 32 in marlboro and 30's throughout parts of western and central new hampshire. the temperatures get chilly as you get into northern new hampshire and the valleys as well. it's a chilly start. warning in effect in coos county until 8:00 and all the blue areas here that's the frost advisories. look for more tonight into tomorrow morning. clear skies out there though right now. we've got blue skies that will be around all day long and most of tomorrow as well until this month begins to get closer, tomorrow night late and into tuesday morning. look at dipping down of the cold air, it's dropped down from canada, but the edge just to west. the temperatures start to edge upwards over the next few days with a couple of the october-like days. they're feeling different and refreshing there for sure. you'll notice it outside this morning. sunshine, it goes the whole day long today and then clear skies tonight, again, a bit of a breeze out there. wind, 15 to 10, maybe gusting 20 miles per hour during the day tuesday morning after a sunny monday we've got the rain and downpours, a likelihood and really needed and very possible. that's the best chance for any showers in the next few days. there is a look at your high temperatures today. 50's to the north and race time. 62 degrees, and hanging out in the lower 60's as well. there's your week ahead. in the 60's and then back to upper 60's and lower 70's as hampshire felt right now. but for farmers who grow christmas trees, this dry year will result in long-term losses. wmur's adam sexton is in milford to explain why. >> it might seem early to start talking about the holidays, but when it comes to christmas trees, this year's drought has at miracle farms in milford, it would have them take roots in this drought-stricken summer. >> everything we planted this year, died farmer david wheeler says the above ground water supply dried out weeks ago. he's been able to use a well to second christmas trees in second and third years of growth, but he like so many others in new hampshire, agriculture is >> sometimes just disappointing. you see on the weather, scattered showers coming and they never seem to get here. they survived a severe drought in 2000. >> this is probably twice as bad for us. we plant the trees and 500 of those where the soil is >> the town of milford is dealing it, too. they get their water to gravel wells by the souhegan river. >> it's decreased a foot and a half, two feet, it's staying there. we're not seeing the bounceback like we typically do. >> at miracle acres, they're hoping to felt in ten years. >> this year's crisp autumn feel for sure and that will inspire a great day to go out and pick apples or drink apple cider or have donuts because it's that type of a day out there today. 44 degrees here in warner with blue skies and so chilly in some spots. 30 degrees in whitefield. tonight, by the way, northern new hampshire likesly gets into the 20's as it will be a few degrees but right now, it's certainly a cold one out there. and the average high is 69 degrees for concord. we will not be getting near there. we'll be into the lower part of the 60's for highs there. we still have a couple of minutes left of the freeze warning for northern new hampshire and those will be allowed to expire in about 15 minutes from now. and more will likely be issued tonight. in fact, areas farther south will likely see frost advisories the upper valley and as south and east as the concord area. tomorrow, more sunshine and this arrives late monday night into tuesday morning and the front will push through and give us a shot of much needed rain, it's possible we could see up to a quick half inch to an inch of rain moving through and tuesday during the morning and mid day hours. look at the cold air dipping down, but you see the back edge of it right therend on in with this, and with the 70's and then after that, we'll see the chance of a couple of showers later in the week, too. about you right now, the best bet for rain is right here as this front moves across the country and pulls through our neighborhood during the day on tuesday. so, a look at futurecast here, plenty of sunshine. beautiful sky conditions for today. it will be a bit on the breezy side. keep that in mind. tonight, clear skies and chilly as the winds light up. tuesday after a monday sunny day, we've got that rain i've been there's plenty of action yesterday on the track as well. thousands of people camped out here for days, so, they have a lot of fun away from the racing, as well. everywhere you find a lot of food, people playing games, in fact, a couple of people playing corn hole already as we speak. of course, catching up with old friends. many of these fans come back year after year and it's certainly a the northwest. there is some rain that's slowly headed in this direction, we'll tell you the timeline for when this arrives in the your full forecast. amy: early this morning, the attorney general's involves a investigating a shooting in clairemont. a person was shot and killed just before 5:00 this morning. the officer was not hurt. at this time it's not clear what prompted the shooting. the scene is active right now, again, one person dead after an officer-involved shooting in clairemont. we do have a crew on the scene and we will bring you any new online as soon as we get it. the police released the cam video of an officer-involved shooting. it may be disturbing to watch. we're not showing the actual shooting. >> in the dash cam video the frantic final moments of the fatal standoff was recorded by police. keith scott is seen vehicle, walking backwards, his hands down and then-- >> we've got shots fired, one suspect down. >> this body cam video partially silent has another forecast. >> on this sunday morning, we start you off with a look at our web-cam in mount monadnock. and a chilly, crisp, start to the day. but the temperatures have begun going back up after bottoming out in the 30's in so many locations. right now, 36 degrees in the monadnock region. i want to show you this, i've been watching this all morning long and this is the view from enveloped in clouds and fog. amazing pictures there. where it's 34 degrees, it was down to 30 degrees just a little while ago. 30's and 40's on the map, and already getting closer to 50 degrees in the milder spots, like downtown manchester at 48. and let's take a look at some of the home townes around the region here with your storm watch 9 spotter network temperatures in the 40's right now. most of southeastern new hampshire, southwestern new hampshire a lot of up as they're doing in central parts of the state in the lakes region. wolfeboro at 38 and 36 in pittsburgh and stewartstown and you can see 34 in white field there. the average high for concord is 69. so far we've made it to 46 and climbing in concord. look at the record high from 1970 of 89 degrees. there's chilly air overhead, but along with it, very clear skies. clouds over the mount and a little bit of mountain and valley fog around the region, also some river fog in some locations this morning as well, but that will be burning off quickly with such dry air, much of the east coast, almost the entire east coast is clear right now, but this front will be approaching and we'll watch that move in as we go through the next couple of days, arriving on tuesday. so, your futurecast showing lots of sunshine for today. temperatures make it up the lower and mid 60's. and look at the sunshine for tomorrow and less windy tomorrow. tomorrow night into tuesday, here comes rain and look, there could be embedded downpours. half an inch to an inch of rain possible on some locations in tuesday and it clears out after that. let's take a look at high temperatures today. 60 to 65 degrees south of the white mountains and 50's in the the big race today in the 50's now and lower 60's by the time the flag is waved this afternoon and both the start flag and the checkered flag, temperatures in the lower 60's and falls down again quickly. another nice day on the way tomorrow. lots of sunshine and 60's again. amy: lots up. and look at the nice visibility that we have for miles and miles. don't always have that and that's because there's virtually no clouds around, just a few clouds, you can see them there at the top of your screen, right around and in and around the mountain and wave clouds and there's a couple of we'll see those at times. but otherwise, it's clear out there as you can see. it's clear to see that temperatures are on the chilly side, but warming up at least and we're well down into the 30's and now more 40's pop up in the map and eventually the 60's by this afternoon. not in northern new investigating a fatal car crash that left route 12 closed for more than two hours last night in west berlin. police say 52-year-old lorrie valentine was travelling capron valentine sustained fatal injuries in that crash. police believe that speed and alcohol may have been contributing factors. >> a dog helped to alert a man his house was on fire. when firefighters arrived on mount tug road just after 2:00, they discovered flames coming from the second floor. crews were able to keep it from spreading to the first floor, there's a lot of damage to the home. they had to truck water into the scene here. no one was rt officials think an electrical problem may have sparked the blaze. >> and in manchester, fire caused about a $10,000 worth of damage to an apartment on summerville street. firefighters discovered flames coming from the third floor. six families were evacuated, fortunately, all are safe. the cause remains under investigation. >> it's race weekend in new hampshire, and the cold front affect the driv so hot inside and on a day like this, the inside is way more comfortable. it's chilly right now and when they get ready to drop the flag, it's perfect conditions. >> who do you like? we've heard names as favorite and potentially the underdog in tony stewart, what's your take? >> to me the two fastest. i don't care what happened last week, this is a competitive series. guess what, he's fast again. and the guys in the championship in for the chase, there's probably 12, 13 others that look like they're running the same speed. that's going to be an interesting race because the guys qualified near each other and as soon as the green flag drops they'll be racing each other. one position is one point in this three-race segment we're in right now. you have a mistake and have a bad race, it's hard to get out of that. sove out right now. >> so certainly a lot riding on the race today. we talked about how special the magic mile is for you. do you have any tricks of the trade here? >> well, for me, this race track is unique. there's no other race track like this in the country and that means there's an opportunity. because you don't run around tracks like this very often. you have to drive it differently and different skills required. it requires a lot of aggressiveness at the right places and you need to drive in too much speed before the center of the corner, it messes up the center and the exit. so all of those little things, i know it looks like cars going around in a circle, but i promise you it's not. a lot more going on than having the car driving the way that and what his car will give yo and you can't just drive the car the way you want to drive it all the time. you have to drive what the car will give you technique in itself. and one thing and then the next lap your car gets tighter and it doesn't turn well, you have to adjust to that as a driver. there's a lot going on in the cockpit. >> we're looking forward to the race and census bureau, income in new hampshire. let's look at a household income list, and new hampshire has one of the highest household incomes look at that, maryland, new jersey, connecticut, district of columbia and there is new hampshire and virginia and hawaii, with me to talk about this and some other very revealing numbers on income, especially here in new hampshire. russell thibeault, applied economic research based in laconia. great to be here. >> nice to have you back. the income numbers about to be put up on the screen are from theen what's driving the incomes not only in new hampshire, but generally? >> i think the main thing that is under the numbers, they're good looking numbers. >> boy, they are. >> more workers for household are bringing incomes into the household and therefore household income is bumping up. >> let's look at the median income and here it is. you can see the change. a period from 2008 to 2015. that is indicative of income going up. comment? >> yeah, early on in this down turn and even into the recovery, fred, household income was dropping. people were losing ground relative to inflation. this year, median household income went up over 5%, over and above inflation, which is a first time since the recovery began that it's shown up in the co next graph. this shows it by category of income, lowest and median and highest. explain what we're looking at. >> well, for a long time, most of the berths -- benefits have been in the high income category. >> the low bar here. >> it grew at 2.9 the percent. the households were 10% lowest of income highest growth. spreading across a broader spectrum. >> now, new hampshire, pay attention to the next graph. this is significant. >> here is new hampshire, total income jumped by nearly 5 billion this year and look at the three years. march of 2014 on the far left, and then in the middle, march of 2015, and then march of 2016 on the right. which is the increase. again. >> yeah, well, this h everything, helps services and retrail trade and growth rate is twice as high. this recovery seven or eight years in the process is back into the household spectrum of the economy and in the form of rising incomes. >> right. the pew research center as you know, good research comes out of the pew research center as well as your office. they have the nationwide study that just came out that shows other things, income. >> yeah, that's true, if you look over the longer term. but this year says that this is the first year in the recovery where the middle class has seen some real noticeable, measurable gains. so, we're chipping away at it, but there's no doubt that the middle class lost ground. >> and it seems to be disappearing by numbers. >> right, right, a lot of it's slipping downward and some is moving upward. again, these numbers show that last year for the first time. >> and what had new hampshire income going up? what's particular to new hampshire, do you think that might be indicative and special to new hampshire in terms of the re reason? >> really had a lot of job growth and our unemployment rate is low and wages are bid up in new hampshire and the number of workers is rising. if hour, you couldn't see it over the clouds and the low fog and now you can see background. 34 degrees in the north country in some spots and notice 45 in berlin. it's all ruled by topography and whether you're in the valley or not, it's a very different situation from different spots in the state. look at western new hampshire, in the 30's and farther to the south and east and we are in the 40's there. 23 atop mount washington right now. winds out of the northwest or the west-northwest depending on the time of day today. times gusts, and it will be breezy today. there is the cool air dipping down out of canada. sticks around today, tonight and tomorrow and we start to see the temperatures retreat. the cold air and milder air starts to push in. clear skies right now, this front will be heading toward us and here is how it looks the next day or two. tomorrow, more sunshine. as the front gets closer tomorrow night and into tuesday, that's when we see the rain. a closer look showing you the sunshine for today. again, a little breezy and october-like feel out tomorrow for sure. tonight, another very cold one and cold start tomorrow morning and tomorrow night into tuesday morning. here come the showers and downpours likely and maybe a half inch or up to an inch in some locations of much-needed rain. that is the good news. so, highs today will be in the low to mid 60's and then tonight we are going to see the temperatures drop. here is a look at your temperatures to expect at the 50's in northern new hampshire and the 60's everywhere else and at the race time today. we will be seeing those temperatures in the low 60's for the starting of the race and low 60's for the checkered flag as well. tomorrow, more sunshine, and then it starts to go up temperature-wise
