The cold temperatures complicated a firefight for cruising guilford who were called to a second alarm house fire on mountain drive just before 1 00 this morning. When crews arrived on scene, the home was fully engulfed and had begun to collapse. The fire chief says the fire mixed with negative 15 degree temperatures and wind made this a difficult fight. Officials say it appears the house was empty. Investigators are working to locate the owner. Companions say the 65yearold man collapsed near the summit. They were unable to revive him. Conservation officers say the hikers were unable to call for help because their phones were not charged. The hikers carry the man down the mountain where they met a rescue team. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow. At this hour, a northfield man is fighting for his life at dartmouth hitchcock medical center. The victim suffered a brutal assault early saturday morning. There is a lot less inventory, which puts you in a better position to be able to access buyers. Fred mortgages, restrictions on mortgages, still tough to get a mortgage . It between freezing to Death Outside or not, which is nice everything that s available for you here between medical, food, and a place to sleep. Donations have been pouring in this weekend to the shelter. Jennifer horne and her family collected blankets, socks, hats, and gloves. When it s this cold outside, i don t want anybody to be outside in this kind of cold it s terrible. It actually gives you a good outlook on things and something to look forward to that there are people that are there to help you out for out of the kindness of their heart and not for anything. The shelter has 80 beds but not all of them were taken friday as about 60 people stayed overnight. That number could go up this weekend. Two staff are on overnight and it would be great if we could have more than that because we ll have as many as 80 people in the building tonight, maybe more, maybe 100 people. New horizons isn t turning at this time of year, people who have been problems here for example or have caused trouble, we make sure to let them in. We don t want anybody to be in any kind of danger out there. So we make sure to bring them in and keep them warm and safe. Messner is grateful for the shelter especially on nights like this. A lot of people don t even know they have that option of coming here and maybe they re even scared of coming here because they don t know what to expect, but it s very easy, laid back, you re treated with respect. Other than that, i m in good shape. Ruchin was the last veteran s firstever warrior week. About 6000 were raised at the school s recent athletic events to benefit building dreams for marines. That organization modifies homes for marines with mobility issues. It s just our way of saying thank you and we appreciate all that they do for us and just their service for our country. Each player wore a jersey bearing the name of a veteran who s important to them. The team designed one for ruchin. We had an idea back in the fall, a small idea just to have a warrior night at a hockey game and it spread to the whole school. We re trying to start a tradition. I think it was a very good success for the first year and i can t wait to see about next year. It actually gives you a good outlook on things and something to look forward to that there are people that are there to help you out for out of the kindness of their heart and not for anything. Mike the shelter has 80 beds but not all of them were taken friday as about 60 people stayed overnight. That number could go up this weekend. Two staff are on overnight. And it would be great if we could have more than that because we ll have as many as 80 maybe more, maybe 100 people. Mike new horizons isn t turning people away during the cold weather. At this time of year, people who have been problems here for example or have caused trouble, we make sure to let them in. We don t want anybody to be in any kind of danger out there. So, we make sure to bring them in and keep them warm and safe. Mike messner is grateful for the shelter especially on nights like this. A lot of people don t even know they have that option of coming here and maybe they re even scared of coming here because they don t know what to expect, but it s very easy, laid back, you re treated with and you re in a good place. Right now, three families are temporarily homeless after an Apartment Fire in manchester. Firefighters say the accidental fire sparked from Flammable Materials left too close to a heater. Firefighters were on another call right around the corner from a building on concord street when the flames broke out. That made for a quick save, and relatively little damage. We re only going to have to displace one half of the building, so three families total will be displaced from the fire. Everybody else will be able to go back tonight. It allows anyone to get rid of unused or expired medication, including controlled substances. The collection site is open 24 7, and drugs can be dropped off with no questions asked.
