"donald - trump" and "hillary - clinton".... fighting for every vote just one week from election night. the political heavy weights targeting north carolina this week. eyewitness news starts right now. 'developing' right now -- 'north carolina' -- bracing for a 'second' gas shortage -- in 'six weeks'. good evening everyone. i'm steve daniels. and i'm tisha powell. a major gas line that supplies much of the east coast with gas -- could be 'down' until the weekend -- after a massive explosion and fire monday afternoon. angelica alvarez is live in raleigh - with what you can do to ride out the shortage. produced.. getting it here... will be the challenge. the governor says the pipeline provides 70- percent of our gas supply. he's urging people to stay on your normal gas schedule... so supplies... last longer. "i got half a tank, i'm going to go ahead and fill up just in case." christopher gause says he's not in panic mode... he's just cautiously preparing... "we didn't expect two different cidents eme pipe gas shortage. "i definitely remember the panic and a lot of people not wanting to leave their houses." governor pat mccrory... issuing an executive order... waiving certain state requirements truck weight restrictions.... in hopes to moving along trucks transporting gasoline. the order also prevents price gouging. but the governor warns the cost of shipping gas is already spiking prices that will trickle down to the pump. "any price hikes that occur will be related to transportation costs or should only be related to transportation costs, but we do anticipate price hikes." the governor says there is a limited supply of gas in the line now... and we could hours. the governor says trucks from the wilmington terminal will begin delivering gas tomorrow. but we've already heard from viewers that they've seen at least one gas station already out. thanks. we have 'more coverage' -- right com'.... and on the 'abc 11 mobile news app'. the 'latest news' -- as it comes in. plus... a video... from triple-a... showing you 'how' to 'conserve' gas. "donald - trump" is now leading "hillary - clinton" -- 46 to 45-percent. and tonight - clinton getting 'help' in "battleground north carolina" -- "joe - biden" campaigning in charlotte. attorney general "roy - cooper" -- who's 'running' for governor... and senate candidate "deborah - ross" -- 'introducing' biden. the vice president taking shots -- at "donald - trump"... and governor "pat - mccrory." he also told the crowd -- 'if' the democrats 'win' north carolina -- they'll "win it all". tonight - "donald - trump"...with a new tone on the campaign trail. trump in wisconsin... departing from his fiery speeches to deliver a traditional "closing argument." he promised supporters...he will overturn obamacare as soon as he's he also made 'no' mention of "hillary - clinton's" email investigation... and took very few attacks on his opponent. and 'north carolina'.. becoming the key spot leading up to election night. tomorrow... president obama will be at u-n-c chapel hill. then.. on thursday.. both "hillary - clinton" clinton.. at a still unannounced location. trump.. expected at rallies in concord and selma. and on friday.. president obama returns to north carolina.. with events in charlotte and fayetteville. while "early voting" -- is 'up' across the state.... the number of 'african-american' early-voters -- is 'way down' -- compared to 2012 and 2008. it 'could' mean trouble for "hillary - clinton".... and tonight the 'clinton campaign' -- is 'enlisting the help' -- of an "r- and-b pop star" -- to help "get out" the vote. joel brown is outside the" drive' -- in downtown raleigh -- with a look at what may be 'behind' -- the 'drop off'. joel? it's a glaring concern for the clinton camp... black voter turnout, so far, during north carolina's early voting period... is down 15% compared to 2012. team clinton trying to turn that around... how can it do that? how about inviting voters to a free concert at the ritz with r&b star ne-yo. --ne-yo nats-- he may not be selling, grammy- award winning singer came to raleigh to offer hillary clinton a boost-- exactly where she needs it most... young voters and african-american voters. - "we need yall to go out and early vote!" they called on concert goers to get out and early vote. while the numbers are up statewide, so far. the amount of younger voters is down from 2012. and the number of african-american voters, down significantly. if we break it down by race... the number of black voters, so far in eaerly voting... is 85% off 15% fr that's trouble for clinton-- she's counting on those votes-- to keep north carolina out of donald trump's win column. - "get out the vote! yes this is a get out the vote concert, have you voted yet? yes, i have." mary myers says she voted for clinton... we asked her and other concert- goers what they think is behind the lack of enthusiasm among the african- american electorate. - "i just think this election is just negative and i just think no one wants to be really americans." - "the younger people don't realize how important it is to vote." - "some people just don't really care as much or just don't think it's gonna make a difference." - "i think it's a lack of enthusiasm and a lack of trust." - "our voters just want to be sure they're making the right choice." ne-yo performed about 45 minutes... he played the hits, folks left happy. what volunteers were most concerned with-- was getting those folks' contact info... to ensure they show up at the polls on the next 4 days ofea or next tuesday. jbr abc11 ewn the north carolina g-o-p plans to reopen its orange county office in hillsborough tomorrow -- less than a month after what looks like an attempt to burn it down. the state republican party says they also plan to double the governor's 5- thousand reward for information leading to the arrest. police and federal authorities.... are trying to figure out - who's behind the late night firebombing. the vandals also left nazi graffiti spray painted on a memorial service for a store clerk gunned down during a robbery in last week. hundreds lighting candles outside the "shop n go" convenience store on highway 39...near zebulon -- for 29-year-old " abraham al-shami" -- known to some customers as 'a-b." his wife.. then wrote a note on a heart-shaped balloon...and released it into a sky. a co-worker also shot during the robbery - should recover. so far -- no one has been arrested.
