A move in the local drug scene today. 20 people indicted federally for their part in a conspiracy to bring large amounts of fentanyl, heroin and cocaine to our area. In april, 16yearold andrew frey overdosed on heroin in a hotel room in the village of green. Today his mother and grandmother were sentenced to ne role in his death. The two of them and the aspiring teen artist were using the drug together when the ladies left him alone and he overdosed. Recently a mother and her husband had apparently combed line by line over the district budget over their dinner table into the night and discovered a 7figure error one that might have otherwise gone unnoticed. Instead, she found that 10. 2 million was submitted. Today the district owned up to the mistake and even called a press conference to maintain that the budgets total still wasnt a mistake. In all likelihood there was likely a miscalculation elsewhere leaving some parents struggling with trust over whoever crunched those numbers. If a parent could have picked it up on a school night and they have, you know, training in this and this is what they do and they missed for a district. Especially when were facing what were facing. The parents are correct in stating that this large amount did not belong in the line item. However, the 2017 appropriations budget of approximately 143 million a 2 million reduction from the prior year remains accurate. Reporter it comes at a time when the district is in debt and considering the consolidation of high schools. The superintendent is now calling for an audit to bett understand what went wrong.
