and we are being told there is still somebody they are looking for. in relationship to this robbery, what we can tell you, here, this is about one block to the north and one block to the east of where for divine intervention to help avoid a government shut down. a few hours later, the senate passed legislation to keep the government running. the bill, as amended, is passed. the funding bill now goes to the republican controlled house, but speaker john ben ownby said the gop would not approve the measure as it. the reason is health care. house republicans may put back in language that would cut off funding for the president's affordable health care act. democrats say they won't accept it. >> any bill that continues to -- there force a government shut down. they need to accept what he just passed. >> reporter: if congress cannot reach a deal, the government will partially shut down as of midnight monday, some 800 thousand federal workers could be told to stay home next week. senator john mccain said compromise is in the country's best interest. >> i think the american people will be done a great disservice. >> reporter: the budget battle is far from over with another one around the corner. next month, congress has to determine whether or not to raise the debt ceiling >> moments ago, president obama spoke about the budge battle. he said the house republicans know what they need to do. >> i said before, if republicans have specific ideas on how to genuinely improve the law, rather than gut it, rather than delay it, rather than repeal it, i'm happy to work with them on that. through the normal democratic process, but that will not happen under the threat of a shut down. if the government partially shuts down, more than a third of federal workers will not be what happened. >> that is indeed correct. around this time yesterday, a massive 10 car pileup near the maryland state line backed up traffic more for miles and left several people injured. it happened over the pennsylvania line near the loganville exit. a flat bed truck was one of the vehicles involved, here is how the driver of that truck described a terrifying scene. >> all of a sudden, i felt a hard bang and was being pushed forward and the truck flipped over. >> and it took emergency workers hours to clear the scenes, you can see from sky eye chopper 13, they shut down 83 northbound. >> >> seven people were hurt in the crash, all of them, though, are expected to recover. >> >> in prince george's county, eight rotc students recovering after being hit by a car in their high school parking lot. the students were practicing military marching. police say the sun may have gotten into the eyes of a 19- year-old driver who hit them. that driver is charged with negligent driving, all eight students are expected to be okay. >> >> a mere tragedy in the skies, foreface >> jerry:s and crew of a united airline flight as the pilot had a heart attack in the middle of the flight. a crisis in the air for united flight 1603. a spokesman said boeing 737 left houston heading to seattle. shortly after 8:00, the crew asked if there was a doctor onboard. then, the plane made an emergency landing in boise, idaho. >> i thought it was a passenger, more nerve wrecking to see it was the pilot. >> united airline said the captain of the plane suffered a heart attack. at least two passengers rushed to help to give him cpr. >> several people helped. some people helped to give him cpr all the way down and then when they got the emt's on there and got him off. >> reporter: there were 161 passengers and a crew of six on the plane. passengers say the situation was tense, but no one panicked. the copilot started to fly the plane and eventually landed. >> >> emt's came onboard. they did two more rounds of cpr. >> tragically, that pilot died. the airline is not releasing his name, citing privacy reasons >> in the wake of the washington navy yard shooting. thousands of employees are getting help coping with the after math of the massacre, counselors have helped more than 6,000 employees, it has been 10 days since a gunman killed 12 people. aaron alech is, former navy reservist with drinks to celebrate passing the medical board and was waiting for the train, but doesn't remember anything. bravery of the passengers to get him to the platform is something that will not be forgotten. the t said they were able to alert other trains to stop in time, but this was too close. >> we take it for granted we see all of the people that are on their cell phone, not paying attention. we don't understand there are people that do good like that. >> >> the man was taken to the hospital with just a minor head injury. >> >> a short time ago, a new jersey judge ruled that the state must allow same sex couples to marry. the judge said now that the federal government recognizes gay marriage, not doing so in new jersey could violate the constitution. it's not immediately clear when marriages could begin or whether the state government will appeal to higher level state court. right now, same sex couples in new jersey can enter into civil unions. >> >> clouds are we are looking at three separate accidents, route 22 at paradise. and mountain road at route 40. traveling southbound 95, watch for an accident there at keith avenue blocking the right hand lane. delay why, the beltway is really jammed. west side inner loop, on the top side of the inner loop, expect at least a half hour. delays stretching from green spring as you can see by our sensor there, average speed only 20-miles an hour. as far as northbound 95 goes. expect delays there from 2925 past white marsh boulevard. let's take a live look as you can see a lot of volume on the beltway around [monotone] she says, "switch to progressive and you could save hundreds." inspectors will travel to syria to track down some of the chemical weapons. they are set to start by tuesday. a group of u.n. inspectors are already on the ground probing several sites, including the damascus suburb where hundreds were killed last month. last night, u.n. security council agreed on a resolution to disarm syria removing the threat of a possible air strike. >> >> rescue teams struggling to pull survivors from india's capital. at least eight people are dead and police fear the number could go higher. >> >> rescue workers carried the victims from the twisted pile of concrete and steel. a dazed child was among the survivors after the five story building crashed down in the early morning. neighbors said more than 100 people lived here. as many as eight people in each of the one room apartments. they say most were likely home at the time of the collapse and many are feared trapped under the rubble. it's the fifth deadly building collapse around india's financial capital. the result of decades of cheap construction and careless inspections in april, more than 70 were killed in a mumbai suburb and in june, two more collapses killed nearly 20. in this latest disaster, terrified family members are watching and waiting, hoping their loved ones are among the survivors. in new york, "wjz" "eyewitness news." >> >> authorities in india say it's too soon to determine the cause of that collapse. >> >> in new york, a woman who was treated on the street by dr. oz after a traffic accident is released from the hospital. mary is in the newsroom with the latest. >> reporter: the 23-year-old british woman spent five weeks recovering from the accident which left her with an amputated leg. in late august, she was touring new york city when a cab jumped the curb, crushing her leg. several people rushed to her aid, including dr. oz. >> "please save my life" and there was nothing they could do. >> i'm really home sick. i have been for weeks, i'm ready to get back to my friends and family. >> police say it was a road rage accident involving the cab driver and a' bike messenger. >> >> no one has been criminally charged in this accident. . some breaking news right now, a bad crash, let's go to sky eye 13 and captain jeff. >> >> reporter: traffic is stopped in both directions for an accident involving at least two vehicles. this came out as a rescue. it appears everybody has been taken out of the vehicle, but as this point, still shut down completely in both directions along route 1. reporting live, from sky eye chopper 13. >> okay, jeff, thank you -p. >> >> in arizona, a quick thinking three-year-old is being hailed a hero for saving his mother's life. katie has the story. >> sometimes, the best gift comes in small packages. >> he must have had the strength of somebody behind him. he was beyond brave. >> that's the case of christie when her family adopted little guy earlier this year. guy is credited with saving his new mom's life. >> 9-1-1 emergency. >> yeah >> hello >> -- september 6th, when kristi and guy were home alone playing a game, kristi suddenly suffered a seizure. >> i don't know what happened. the next thing i knew is when i came to. this room was filled with paramedics and firefighters and policemen. >> >> reporter: that's all thanks to the quick actions of her heroic little three-year-old. he knew just who to call. >> 9-1-1. >> do you see a police car? >> yes. let the officer inside of your house, okay? >> okay. >> guy was honored for his quick thinking. complete with a plaque and a fire truck just his size. >> >> reporter: what do you think about this? >> cool. >> what is even more amazing, guy has a speech impedestrian meant a year ago, he was hardly able to speak. let alone call for help. >> >> bob has the updated weather forecast, coming up next. mom... yes honey? dad told me that cheerios is good for your heart, is that true? says here that cheerios has whole grain oats that can help remove some cholesterol, and that's heart healthy.
