"there's only so far we can go before we really start to compromise the quality that our students experience and that they've come to expect." and uw-oshkosh chancellor, andrew leavitt lev-it says each university is struggling with budget cuts and a tuition freeze.lawmakers say the freeze started with the 2013-2015 budget. the freeze was then extended in the 2015-2017 budget, and 250-million system. "the impact of the budget reductions is in full force right now. by the end of this year we would have reduced 140 positions, which is about 10% of our workforce." republican representative dave murphy says giving students a bang for their buck is the priority. "we have to keep costs down. we need to provide people value." but uw system leaders say cutting those costs and freezing tuition harms the resources available to students. leavitt says uw oshkosh lost 7-and- a-half million dollars of funding. "if the uw's budget was fully funded, this would be great academic support systems that have been depleted because of the budget cuts." "they're going to have to understand that in the future, theyre going to have to work on keeping their budget increases, at or below the rate of inflation if were going to give students the kind of value they deserve." and how do the cuts affect prospective students?
