hallways of arrowhead high school monday... of the deadly crash overnight that killed former student brielle beres. we found out and most of us just went silent. the 17-year-old senior attended arrowhead up until midway through junior year... when those who knew her say a sports-related concussion forced her to drop out. beres' longtime friends say she was liked by everyone. she was the nicest. she was so funny. with friends. her mom was her best friend for sure. the waukesha county sheriff's office says beres was driving east on capitol drive around 3 o'clock in the morning when she crashed into this wooded area. i woke up to the car alarm or whatever and the next thing i know, i hear sirens, look out the window to see at least 10 vehicles. beres was pronounced dead at the scene... her two passengers... a 17- for non life threatening injuries. the cause of the crash is still unclear... residents nearby wonder if a deer may have crossed in front of the car. its definitely a dark and dangerous road. as authorities continue to investigate what happened arrowhead students will celebrate beres life by wearing the color blue to school tuesday. we just kind cant believe that shes not here with us anymore. the 17-year-old female passenger who was i student at arrowhead. a principal at lake country lutheran says beres transfered to his school last spring... but dropped out in september because of that concussion. he says she had been taking online classes this fall. reporting live at arrowhead high school... madeline anderson fox6 news. ted thanks madeline we're following some breaking news out of japan... where a tsunami warning is in effect after a 7-point-3 magnitude earthquake struck just a couple of hours ago off the country's eastern coast. a tsunami wave has been spotted -- and people in the fukushima prefecture have been urged to not far from the 2011 earthquake that caused a devastating tsunami -- killing more than 15-thousand people and damaging nuclear reactors. milwaukee police are investigating a shooting near 64th and villard this morning. the 56-year-old victim was being followed by three people when one then shot the victim. the victim was taken to the hospital but is expected to recover. the suspects took off. a racine county man pleads guilty to homicide-related and killing a 13-year-old in caledonia. 35-year-old thomas macemon plead guilty to charges of homicide by negligent use of a vehicle and homicide by vehicle while using drugs. sara dray-zen was killed in august, 2015 when macemon hit her with his car as she walked on the side of the road. macemon told police he smoked marijuana, took xanax and had a shot of whiskey before the crash. brought you in july... when a sheboygan bartender was caught in the crossfire -- as police shot and killed a suspect. that bartender and a co-worker have now filed a claim against the city of sheboygan -- alleging the firing officers were negligent. justin williams shares new details. i had to pick up my hand and set it on top of the bar. months ago, we watched bartender kurt klessig struggle with the pain resulting from a shooting... whe police fatally shot an armed robber at the bar where klessig worked. in this surveillance video, two officers were positioned just outside the taverns side door and fired as the suspect exited the union avenue tap. i honestly thought the city would step up and say 'you know, we did this. we'll make it right.' monday, klessig, whose right forearm was shattered by a bullet, is joined by union ave. bartender, mary heitzmann, who says she has experienced mental have filed a notice of injury and notice of claim for damages with the city of sheboygan. each seeks two-point-five million dollars for pain, suffering, disfigurement and disability, and loss of earning capacity... according to the document, quote: officer hamilton and officer kehoe knew or should have known that by positioning themselves as they did, kurt klessig and mary heitzmann were in the officers' field of fire. endquote the claimants allege the officers were negligent in firing their weapons... quote: ... in violation of the city of sheboygan police department's rulea endquote the sheboygan city attorney tells me the next step involves this claim, being presented at a common council meeting, monday night, at which time, he says, it will be referred to the city's finance committee. the finance committee, he explains, will, then, vote to either approve full payment, approve partial payment, or deny the claim, altogether. this is the latest, in sheboygan. i'm justin williams, fox 6 news. a federal court rules voting unconstitutional... a three-judge panel tossed out maps drawn by republican lawmakers five years ago -- saying they violate the voting rights of democrats. a dozen citizens sued over the redistricting last year -- arguing the boundaries discriminate by diluting voting power. attorneys for the state argued the districts simply reflect that wisconsin has been trending republican. attorney general brad schimel says the state plans to appeal the decision. meanwhile -- governor scott announcing today the state faces a nearly 700-million-dollar budget shortfall by mid-2019. it's the first estimate from the department of administration to take into account spending requests made by state agencies for the next two years. the report -- required every two years -- typically shows a shortfall because state agency requests are often wish lists that aren't fully met by lawmakers. hundreds of workers at chicago's o'hare international airport say they'll wait until on strike... "service employees international union local 1" announcing today 500 workers will strike starting november 29th... that announcement was made this morning outside the airport -- which is one of the busiest in the country. the workers say they want the public's support and wouldn't want to mess up anyone's holiday plans. meanwhile -- drivers who use eastbound i-94 will notice a pleasant change tomorrow... the zipper merge near sunny slope road and lanes will be shifted onto the new pavement. that means all three lanes will now open -- which is expected to ease regular backups in that area. "we only had two-thirds capacity on a freeway system that was already nearing capacity." "the good news is you're going to see a great improvement to your flow of traffic eastbound on i- 94." d-o-t officials say even though quite a bit of work remains on the zoo interchange project -- they merge" during construction. a building collapsed on north farwell this morning during demolition...no injured but the event shook up the street and its neighboring business julie collins joins us live on north farwell with the details...julie? some business people in the area tell me they had been concerned about the building because they say a large piece of concrete fall last building came tumbling down. it was 10-45 this morning when what seemed to be a typical day at the office turned frightening.... 'oh! the whole building shook like it was an earthquake, i thought this building was coming down.' but it was the building across the street. 'weve been watching the process of this building for a couple of weeks now.' 18-40 north farwell...a 4 story...built in 1961...nearly ?demolished when it came crashing down. 'i was sitting in an internal building when literally it felt like an earthquake. the sound and the movement was very dramatic.' ann brummitt works inside the east side plaza - the building was hit by flying debris. 'we all came and saw cloud of dust here, windows shattered, really an amazing amount of rubble right here.' dr. frank galkas dentisry office saw glass right here and theres a brick through the wall it came right through the window and on the floor and there was glass all over this area.' its not the only broken glass - all 4 outdoor windows and doors to the east side plaza were shattered. "we're gathered here today. that isn't unique .because an injustice has happened in our community. to violence. "a young woman was attacked." a is a manifestation of self hatred." and joined by robin young.. "he got upset and punched her in the back of the head.." who is describing how her younger sister was attacked "proceeded to kick her repeatedly in the ribs.." at this intersection..just the day before... "this must stop and we won't stand for it." "right now my sister is at my house trying to wrap her mind around all of this." milwaukee police say the victim was approached by a man sunday morning near 21st and keefe. "robin young says her trying to catch the number 12 bus to go to work." "assaults against women are our responsibility to prevent." young says the attacker ran away when her sister reached into her purse for her taser "some when don't take "no" lightly." milwaukee county supervisor supreme moore omokunde says his plea is to all men.. "violence against woman is prevalent in the united states, period." and specifically to the man who attacked robin young's sister sunday morning.. "go forth and turn himself in to help to get help because obviously he does." the victim in this case was treated and released from the hospital. milwaukee police confirm a police report was filed and they are investigating. back to you. it's time for your news and weather together. the man that confessed to killing 11-year-old jacob wetterling back in september is sentenced today. 53-year-old danny heinrich will spend 20 years in p reaching a plea bargain. this summer -- heinrich led authorities to where he buried wetterling's remains 27 years ago after kidnapping, sexually assaulting and killing the saint joseph boy. milwaukee police are asking for your help identifying this man-- wanted in connection to a bank robbery. it happened last friday at the associated bank on 9th and mitchell. officials says the suspect entered the bank, handed the teller a note demanding money and implied he had a gun, after the teller gave him money-- he ran from the bank. give police a information. the milwaukee county medical examiner's office releases the identity of the victim of a fatal crash from over the weekend. they say 20-year-old shawn oliver died saturday night after he was ejected from his vehicle near 27th and capitol. according to officials-- oliver was the passenger in a car that fled a traffic stop before swerving into oncoming traffic. that car then hit another vehicle, followed by a concrete light pole. weather lows will be in the mid 20s again tonight. the 40s return tomorrow along with our next "system." we may see a few isolated showers or flurries early tomorrow. rain looks most likely in the pm hours, with the chance for a slushy mix but thanksgiving is looking dry with highs in the low 40s. tonight: increasing clouds. low: 25 wind: n 3-7 mph tuesday: mostly cloudy. a few sprinkles/flurries possible early. pm rain likely. high: 42 wind: se 5-15 mph wednesday:cloudy with rain likely. high: 44 wind: se/nw 5-15 mph thursday: mostly cloudy. am low: 37 high: 42 wind: nw 5-15 mph friday: mostly cloudy with a chance for rain and snow showers. am low: 33 high: 40 wind: nw 5-10 mph saturday: mostly cloudy. am low: 31 high: 45 wind: wsw 5-10 feeding families ahead of thanksgiving... that's what the aurora's family services was doing today... three thousand one hundred... thats' how many families are receiving a grocery bag full of thanksgiving food today. but as fox6s deandra corinthios explains...this effort is about more than just a meal. 3100 grocery bags are packed... and the turkeys are ready to be thawed... "i once did the calculations, this is six suvs worth of turkeys, we couldnt do that alone so we have over 400 volunteers" more than 58 thousand milwaukee area families with thanksgiving groceries...over the last 20 years. but this is about more than food. its about making...or keeping thanksgiving traditions. "for families that are having a tough time this time of year it really is hard to have a tradition, so we know we are continuing those traditions and it is a tradition that pulls families together during tough times" volunteers from companies all over the area...including aurora 'turkle' are here to help.each family will receive a 12 pound turkey, stuffing, bread, green beans, corn, mashed potatoes, butter and a pan to cook the turkey. "schools, daycares, churches and other community partners are here picking up the food. they have identified the families they serve who need it the most." "our families are very loving and very kind and this just makes it possible for them to have a happy thanksgiving just as everyone should" a small delivery..with a big impact.
