morning, two men are expected to be o.k. after their boat crashes into the breakwall the fire department says crews were called out just after 11:00 last night, after a 32-foot power boat hit boat hit the breakwall. the two men were pulled to safety by nearby boaters. milwaukee police say the boat was speeding when it crashed, and the two men are being investigated for operating while intoxicated. right now, the boat can be seen on top of the break wall. new this morning, milwaukee police are trying to find whoever shot and killed a 24-year-old man around 9:30 last night. found lying on the sidewalk near a home at 19th street and capitol drive. first responders tried to save the man, but he died at the scene. no suspects have been named and the shooting remains under investigation. later today, you're invited to join a conversation about public safety in milwaukee. a series of public hearings will be held on saturdays this month, starting today. back in august, the public safety action plan was released calling for increased police facilities. residents will have the opportunity to provide input, ideas, and feedback on public safety issues during today's meeting. it starts at thema: we continue to track hurricane matthew. there is a state of emergency in north and south carolina. the storm weekend -- the storm became a category to overnight, florida in the dark after hurricane matthew, but power crews hope to have lights back on on monday. the hurricane had devastating wind and rain, claiming the lives of at least six people. this is saint augustine, downed trees and flooded street. it is expected to top eight feet later today. yesterday, people, including children, were trapped by the rising water around this bed and breakfast. in miami beach, the clean up process has started. >> we are here to help one another, to get this done. that's what neighbors are for. thema: some florida cities have a curfew in place and are warning people to stay away from the coast until water levels drop. right now, the u.s. military is loading ships with relief supplies for hurricane victims in haiti. the storm devastated the island the official death toll is nearly 300 people, but the haitian government expects that to rise over the next few days. a couple from eau claire is traveling to haiti to help the recovery efforts. sandi polzin and her husband john have adopted four children from haiti. their goal is to purchase thousands of meals to hand-deliver to people in the hardest hit parts of the country. >> become self-sufficient. they still need so much georgia overnight where high winds are knocking out power. some areas are bracing for up to 15-inches of rain. the hurricane moved through coastal florida yesterday. six people have died in florida from the storm. more than a million people are still without power this morning. officials say it could take weeks to clean-up the damage. while thousands of people out. they were trapped inside homes and a motel. the storm is weaker now than earlier this week when it made landfall in the caribbean. the death toll in haiti is at least 300 people but that number is expected to rise. for the latest on the intensity of hurricane matthew, let's get to meteorologist sally severson. sally: early today, we are happening with matthew. this is a rain-maker, especially along the carolina seaboard. on the radar network, you can see that the rain continues impact doing mostly south carolina, pushing up and north out of georgia. charleston, myrtle beach, wilmington. these rain bands are moving inland. the storm is a category 2 will get weaker. also, as it interacts with the proximity to land. the highest sustained wind is 105-miles-per-hour. it is moving north-northeast at 12-miles-per-hour. it will continue to move out and over the atlantic ocean. it will continue to get weaker. travel to the carolinas and into the virginias will be what is happening with matthew. thema: right now, travelers trying to get to atlanta, savannah, and charleston are experiencing problems. thousands of flights have been cancelled through tomorrow because of the hurricane. all flights to and from orlando were cancelled yesterday, but some flights could resume later today. we did check the metro board, the 7:20 flight to orlando has been canceled. check with your airline. cast. the u.s. is accusing russia of trying to interfere with the presidential election. two intelligence agencies released a joint statement yesterday officially blaming russia for recent email hacks. those breaches targeted political groups, including the democratic national convention. here in wisconsin, election officials say there's a problem with some absentee ballots. they've been sent in, but are missing address information and might not count. a new law in wisconsin requires absentee ballots to include the full address of a witness. in milwaukee, the city election chief says about 400 absentee ballots have come in where the witness did not write their municipality. now, those ballots will have to be returned to be corrected. president obama cast his early ballot for the 2016 presidential election yesterday. he stopped by the chicago board of elections office to vote. for the weekend, where he's expected to take part in several big ticket democratic fundraisers. later today, the city of milwaukee is coming together to support dads. the 11th annual fatherhood summit is this weekend. it's one of the largest annual gatherings of men in the state, drawing an average of 1000 men each year. the summit includes speeches, workshops, and a job fair encouraging men to step up in their children's lives. the event is free and open to the public. local fiep technique. it's him cpr." mike: fortunately john had learned cpr from an employer years before. >> i could see he was nonresponsive. i tried to keep him going until the paramedics arrived. >> think about the song tuesday they also put on a clinic and promoted hands only cpr for everybody. >> we don't ask people to do mouth-to-mouth. we only ask you to push hard and fast on the chest 100 times per : he will not be able to play until next season, but he is alive. thema: a dog in wisconsin is helping prevent the spread of a major pest in people's homes. chester is a rescue dog helping the brown county health department track down bed bugs. the area has seen a 300% increase in bed bugs over the last two years. chester helps search for the bugs before health officials spray any treatment. the health department says it's about bed bugs that are also found in hotels, and other public places. later today the humane animal welfare society is hosting its annual 5-k. move your mutt is at genesee lake road park in oconomowoc. the race starts at 9:00 this morning. money raised benefits the humane animal welfare society. this weekend, oktoberfest celebrations continue across southeastern wisconsin. downtown cedarburg is keeping the german tradition alive later with a sauerkraut eating contest, and german spelling bee are taking place. in oconomowoc, weiner dog racing returns to the oconomowoc harley davidson. dozens of weiner dogs of all ages will compete to be the fastest. the entry fee is $5. proceeds benefit local dog rescue organizations. revealing the badger state's biggest secrets.
