everyone. heading outside, here's a look heading enter boston. pretty much wild open if you're getting ready to head out the door. no problems on route 93 and braintree to boston, northbound on the route 3, 24 and 95 all south of town, all looking good, problem-free heading into town on the pike all the way back the framingham and route 2 and 3 wide open. let's take a look at those drive times if you're getting ready to head out the door. ten minutes braintree to boston northbound on the expressway. 12 minutes into town on the pike from 128, 93 southbound, 128 to the zakim bridge, just 11 minutes, so not seeing in i delays on the roads. the "t" and commuter rail starting the morning on schedule. back to you, guys. >> sarah: we begin with trapping one person inside. three good samaritans stopping to help the driver. >> christa: and now investigators are trying the piece together the moment before this accident happened. so for the latest, we head live right now to the scene and 7's nicole oliverio is covering the story. nicole? >> nicole: christa, a wild scene on 93 south. if i step out of the way, it's not affecting traffic here. this accident happened just after 3:00 a.m. if you take a look, you can see car. then it landed on top of the guardrail, actually facing the wrong way. so this accident happened just after 3:00 on 93 south in between exits 5 and 6 right on the braintree-randolph line. crews immediately responded, but there were some good samaritans that had pulled over who were trying to get that driver out of the car, but it was too difficult a situation. firefighters and responding crews actually had to use the jaws of life. it took about an hour before they could get that driver out driver came out, was conscious and alert, and then taken to a nearby hospital. right now it's unclear exactly what caused this accident. the car was missing its two front tires. it's unclear if they fell off and that's what caused the crash, or if the impact of the crash caused him to lose his tires. that's the latest live in braintree, nicole oliverio, 7news "today in new england." >> we're following more breaking news. a train carrying hazardous materials derails in westford. crews still working to clean 7's victoria warren is live on the scene with the latest. >> victoria: good morning, sarah. good news to report this morning because last night there was some concern that folks would have to evacuate, but we're told they're not. there's no spill involved in this train derailment. you can see the train still down here on the tracks in westford. this is at river and bridge streets. we have some video from last night shortly after this derailment happened. we're told by fire officials that six train cars derailed, there were no passengers on board. some of these cars, though, are carrying haus douse materials, so there were concerns last night that there might be some sort of leak, but they have checked everything out. there is no leak. they did, though, do a reverse 911 last night to warn residents that there might have to be an evacuation, but at this point fire officials say that is not necessary. so taking a live look out here, again, they've been monitoring the situation all night long, and as the sun rises this morning, they're going to bring that's when they're going to start to right this freight train so they can move it, but at this point, no risk to any of the people living over here, and this is good news. live this morning in westford, victoria warren, 7news "today in new england." >> sarah: right now two people are fighting for their lives after they were hit by a truck in woburn. police say the 71-year-old man and 6-year-old woman were -- 67-year-old woman were crossing in front of city hall when they were hit. they suffered serious, life-threatening injuries. police are reviewing surveillance video to see if the truck driver will face any charges. >> christa: right now police in lawrence are looking for clues after a woman's body was found outside of an apartment building. officers say her death is suspicious. so far the woman's name isn't being released, but the district attorney's office says she has been identified. her body was found outside the rita hall apartments and investigators believe she died yesterday morning. and really tragic news this investigators are trying to figure out how a young girl was crushed and killed by vehicle. police say the three-year-old's father was working on the vehicle at the time of that accident tuesday. it happened on zene street. the child was pronounced dead on the scene and her father faken to the hospital. >> sarah: happening now, robbers on the run after a violent home invasion in sterling. a 70-year-old woman tied up and in trouble. she says she was robbed by three men. 7's jennifer eagan live with the very latest on this >> jennifer: sarah, good morning. police here in sterling are trying to track down these three men. this robbery happened around 10:00 yesterday morning. police do not believe this robbery was random. a 70-year-old woman was alone when three men broke into her home in sterling. police say they bound the woman's feet and hands with duct tape, put another piece of tape over her mouth as the robbers ransacked the home. the three men were wearing all black, gloves, their faces covered. >> the o they're all approximately the same height, 5'8", 5'9". two were slimmer. one was a skeleton mask and the other two were black ski masks. >> jennifer: police say the doors were unlocked but police believe they specifically targeted the home. >> they told her they didn't want to hurt her. they wanted to know the location of the safe. as i said, there was no safe. >> jennifer: the intruders after the intruders were gone, the victim managed to free her hands to call 911. >> she was remarkably calm. she was upset. the longer we stayed, the more upset she got. she's refused any medical treatment. she's doing well. >> jennifer: the stolen cadillac was recovered near the highway several hours later. the suspects are still on the run. even though police don't consider this a random attack, people in this normally quiet town are stunned. >> it's outrageous, especially in broad daylight. >> it's horfy around here. >> so the victim lives in that house with her husband. he was not home at the time. police haven't said why they believe this couple would be targeted. we're live in sterling this morning, jennifer eagan, 7news "today in new england." >> christa: less than a week to go before microscope. the f.b.i. posting 129 pages from its 2001 investigation of mark rich, the former hedge fund trader pardoned by bill clinton on his last day in office. the f.b.i. says the release has with temperatures warming well into the any isolated shower across upstate new york, central and northern new england stays away here in southern new england through the day. you can see the mild air extending back into detroit, into chicago, heading out that way or out into minneapolis. it's mild all the way out into the front range of the rockies. with we do have some mild weather ahead of us for tomorrow, as well. but you also know that there are showers across the mid west. we do introduce a chance of some showers working in tomorrow. a couple more mild days ahead of us, although tomorrow southern think it's going to be cooler than it is today because the winds are going to shift to the north tonight and try to rebound back to the south-southeast tomorrow. maybe a struggle to get all the way through the merrimack valley into southern new hampshire. we have the chance of rain working in in the afternoon. behind this front that comes on through tomorrow night, some chilly air arriving again on friday. closer to seasonal levels if not even a few degrees below seasonal levels on friday. not a tremendous amount of rain, but there may be some quarter the half-inch rain near the mass-new hampshire border. through southeastern mass where showers are more hit-and-miss by tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow evening. today enjoy it. pick of the week. sunshine, mix of clouds, mid-60s on average. a lot of the suburbs climbing up to 67, 68 degrees. near 60 across the cape and the low 60s across worcester hills. certainly a mild day for this time of year. and a mild overnight >> nancy: really scary for that clerk. now that cashier is talking about what happened. take a look at this video. it's from the w saturday. you see the robber dressed in black threaten the woman with a gun, firing a shot. at first she thought it was a joke, but shen she realized the robber wasn't laughing. >> i laughed at him because the halloween kind of thing, i thought he's just trying the scare me. but he said give me all the money, whatever you guys have in there. >> nancy: the man with the gun indiana police wound up arresting three people in connection with the robbery. in the newsroom, nancy chen, 7news "today in new england." >> christa: nancy, thank you. right now police in rehoboth are looking for the men who robbed a gas station on winthrop street. a clerk says he was held at knifepoint during that robbery on monday night. >> i looked up and saw the door open. and this guy in a black nylon mask, black hoodie with a switch in his hands looks at me and says, "don't he told me he'd gut me if i looked up in the next 60 seconds. >> christa: the clerk was not hurt, but the men managed to get away. >> sarah: police are trying to figure out who hand adminny have had cabot toll a child on halloween. the six-year-old's parents found his smirnoff vodka bottle in his candy bag. police say parents should be sure to check their kids' candy. >> it could look attractive to a apple and it has a picture of an apple on it. for a small child, they might think this is juice. >> sarah: parents who find a similar item in their children's candy bags are urged to call police. >> christa: and the election countdown, six days to go and a ballot battle is under way here in massachusetts over question four. both boston mayor marty walsh and governor charlie baker are asking voters to say no the legalizing marijuana. >> no matter what i matter what the city council says, no matter what local civic associations, activists, people who don't want these shops in their neighborhoods say, it doesn't matter. >> sew this and drinks and food and desserts and all the are erks candy, we've never seen anything like that in the market we live in now. >> christa: so yesterday yes on four released a statement reading in part, "this is not a let's instead legalize, tax an regulate marijuana so we can tackle the opioid epidemic and end mass encars ration. we must vote yes on four." >> sarah: new details on a wild wreck in the back bay. boston police have cited the driver of an s.u.v. for failing to stop for an emergency vehicle after the vehicle was hit by a firetruck on monday. investigators say that driver blocked the firetruck at an intersection. the truck then collided with the s.u.v. and crash parked cars. four firefighters were treated for minor injuries. >> christa: and police are investigating a fiery crash here in middleborough. this was on route 44 yesterday afternoon. investigators say four cars were involved as you see one of them burst into flames. so traffic was backed up for more than an hour as crews work to clear up that scene. four people also suffering non-life-threatening injuries. >> sarah: more news today. a manatee finally makes its way florida waters yesterday. the pregnant manatee was rescued from the cold waters off the coast of cape cod in september. marine officials tagged her before releasing her. >> christa: still ahead, is prince harry about to pop the question? according to investigators, the first officer responded to a report of shots fired. that was about 2:00 a.m. in a suburb of that city and was shot and killed sitting alone in his patrol car. we're told the second officer came in to assist and was also shot and killed. now, state officials have launched a manhunt for the suspect or suspects. right now police say they're description. we'll keep you posted. >> sarah: we're following more breaking news today. a serious crash in randolph trapping one person inside. three good samaritans stopping to help that driver. >> christa: now investigators are trying to piece together the moments before this crash happened. let's head out live to the scene for the latest. 7's nicole oliverio is on the story for us. nicole? >> nicole: christa, really it was a crazy accident. the good news is the crews have obviously cleared, so it won't be impacting your morning commute here, but this crash happened just after 3:00 on south between exits five and six right on the randolph-braintree line. take a look here and you see the driver somehow lost control of the car. it flipped over, lands on top of the guardrail facing the wrong direction. now, we're told that three good samaritans actually pulled over to try and help that driver, see if they could roll the car off of the guardrail, see if they could get that driver out, but they could not. so emergency crews were quick to the scene. they had to use the jaws of life. this was about 40 minutes before amazingly we're told that driver was conscious and alert and was taken to a nearby hospital to be checked out. it's unclear exactly how serious those injuries were. but right now police are trying to figure out exactly what caused this accident. live in braintree, nicole oliverio, 7news "today in new england." >> sarah: happening today, opening statements will be delivered in the retrial of convicted killer gary lee sampson. sampson was convicted of killing three men, including two here in massachusetts in 2001 and was sentenced to death two later. the ruling was thrown out in 2011 due to juror misconduct. >> sarah: trailers go up in flames on the cape, destroying hundreds of donations for military families. those trailers were filled with toys and supplies that were supposed to go to children and now organizers are scrambling to save christmas. 7's nancy chen investigators say that a car turning on the route 111 clipped another one and then sent that car into oncoming traffic. a 69-year-old woman was killed were seriously hurt. >> sarah: a car is now back on dry land in brockton. crews pulled the vehicle out of the water at d.w. field on park on tuesday. it's not clear if anyone had been in the car when it went into the water, but officials say it appears the car had been there for some time. >> christa: right now police are investigating a deadly accident at a workplace in rockland. officers say a man from wareham died after getting trapped between the bumper of the tractor-trailer and a loading dock. at highway safety systems. police say the driver of the tractor-trailer has not been charged. >> sarah: new details now. harvard's office of general council says it will conduct an immediate review of the sexually explicit document written by the 2012 men's soccer team. the document used sexually explicit language to describe six female soccer recruits inch an op-ed piece, those women are now criticizing the explicit report. >> christa: happening today, a from bill cosby's deposition will be used in his upcoming indecent assault trial. today's the second day of this pretrial hearing that's going on in philadelphia. attorneys for cosby say he answered questions in 2005 only after being told he would not be charged with a crime. now, those charges stem from a 2004 incident involving andrea constand, an employee at temple university. she claims that cosby drugged and sexually assaulted her. the comedian's trial is set women now have accused cosby of sexual assault, but this is the only criminal case against him and he denies all of the charges. >> sarah: opening statements are expected today in the trial of a former south carolina police officer who is accused of killing an unarmed black man. prosecutors say michael slager shot and killed walter scott as scott ran from a traffic stop last year. if convicted, slager could face up to life in prison. >> christa: happening right now, police are searching for memphis. investigators say six people opened fire inside this park tuesday night and a 16-year-old girl was killed. four others were injured, as well. three of those victims are now in critical condition. >> sarah: police continue searching for suspects after a saudi arabian student at the university of wisconsin was attacked and killed. investigators say someone beat up the 24-year-old early sunday morning. right now officers have found no evidence to suggest the victim wasar ethnicity. turning now to the fight against isis, iraqi special forces are making key advances as they fight the terror group near mosul. military officials say troops have taken control of a state television building in the embattled city. they also say forces took control of a village just outside of mosul. officials believe freeing that village opens the door to entering mosul. >> christa: that wreckage. >> sarah: good samaritans stopped on the highway to help after the car landed upside down on the guardrail. 7's nicole oliverio live in randolph with more. nicole? >> nicole: sarah, it was a crazy sight on 93 south earlier this morning. not a problem for traffic anymore. that scene has clear, but take a look, this accident happening just after 3:00 a.m. between exits five and six on 93 south. you can see the driver somehow flipped the car into the air. it then landed on its roof on top of the guardrail. that driver trapped inside. now, three good samaritans did pull over, trying to see if they could possibly roll the car off that driver out, but it was up to rescue crews. they had to use the jaws of life. that driver was trapped inside the car for about 40 minutes before they were finally able to get them out. we're told the driver was taken to a nearby hospital to be checked out. right now it's unclear exactly what caused this accident. the car was missing its two front tires. it's unclear if that's what caused the crash or if that were a result of the impact of the accident. live in braintree, nicole oliverio, 7news "today in new england." concerns in westford where a train carrying hazardous materials has derailed. crews working through the night to secure the train and get it back on track. 7's vick michael vick is on the scene with more. >> victoria: good morning. six cars of that train jumped the track. there's some concern because it's carrying cleaning supplies on it, hazardous material. last night there is concern folks would have to evacuate, but we have video of last night this is a freight train. it happened right around 8:40 last night. and we don't know yet why this train jumped the track. i just spoke with someone. this is the second derailment in this almost exact location in about the last two years. they're trying to figure out what's causing all of this, especially since last night there was concern they may have to evacuate residents nearby if there was any type of hazardous material spill. again, the good news out here this morning, we got the from fire officials, there is no spill some what they're going to be doing when the sun comes up is they're going to get some equipment down here. they're going the right this train on to the tracks so they can pull it out and clear things up down there. the investigation into exactly how this derailment happened continues. there were no injuries. live this morning in westford, victoria warren, 7news "today in new england." >> sarah: we're following more breaking news out of iowa. two des moines police officers have been killed in what is attack. according to investigators, the first officer responded to a report of shots fired shortly after 2:00 a.m. in a des moines suburb and was shot and killed while sitting alone in his patrol car. the second officer came into assist and was also shot and killed. state officials have launched a manhunt for the suspect or suspects. although right now police say they are working with very few details other than a vehicle description. >> christa: right now police up in lawrence are investigating the mysterious death of a woman doorstep of an apartment complex. so far the woman's name has not been released, but the district attorney's office says she has been iewd find. her body was found outside the rita hall apartments. investigators believe she died some time yesterday morning. >> sarah: in acushnet, investigators are trying to figure out how a young girl was crushed and kill by a vehicle. police say the three-year-old's father was working on the vehicle at the time of the accident on tuesday. it happened on gene street. the child was pronounced dead at hospital. >> christa: right now two people are fighting for their lives after they were hit by a truck. this was in woburn. police say the 71-year-old man and 67-year-old woman were in the crosswalk when they were hit. the victims apparently crossing the street the get to a bus top in front of city hall. they suffered life-threatening injuries. >> sarah: detectives are using a key clue the try and solve a crime in a quiet upscale neighborhood in sterling. masked men storming into a woman's bedroom, tying her up to kill her. 7's jennifer eagan live now with what police have uncovered. jen? >> jennifer: sarah, the couple's car was stolen from the house, but it was found ditched by the side of a highway. detectives have been going over it for fingerprints. this robbery happened yesterday morning around 1:00. at this point police do not believe that house was picked at at random. a 70-year-old woman was alone when three men broke into her tape, put another piece of tape over her mouth as the robbers ransacked the home. the three men were wearing all black, gloves, their faces covered. >> the only description is they're all approximately the same height, 5'8", 5'9". two were slimmer. one was a skeleton mask and the other two were black ski masks. >> jennifer: police say the doors were unlocked but police believe the men specifically targeted this home. >> they told her they didn't want to hurt her. they wanted to know the location of the safe. as i said, there was no safe. >> jennifer: the suspects rummaged through the house for roughly 30 minutes. they stole cash and a black cadillac. police say after the intruders were gone, the victim managed to free her hands and she called 911. >> she was remarkably calm. she was upset. the longer we stayed, the more upset she got. she's refused any medical treatment. she's doing well. >> jennifer: the stolen cadillac was recovered near the highway several hours later. the suspects are still on the run. even though police don't >> it's outrageous, especially in broad daylight. >> it's horrifying. i can't believe it happens around here. >> jennifer: the victim's husband lives at this house with her. he was not home at the time, though. police sarah: we're following three breaking news stories right now. first in iowa, two police officers in des moines have been killed in what is being called an investigators say the first officer responded to a report of shots fired and was shot and killed while sitting alone in his patrol car. another officer was found shot to death in his cruiser about two miles away. state officials have launched a mubtd for the suspect or suspects. >> christa: also breaking, one person was rushed to the hospital after this crash on 93 in randolph. the driver here flipping over and landing on top of the guardrail. right there. police say good same-sex marriage tibbs stopped and tried eventually it took crews about an hour to make that rescue. >> sarah: also breaking, a freight train carrying hazardous materials derails in westford. nothing spilled. so residents did not have to evacuate. crews are cleaning up this morning, and later they will try to lift a train up and back on to the tracks. >> christa: new this morning, a store clerk on the cape coming face to face with a gunman who fires off a shot inside the store. so this close call for an unsuec 7's nancy chen has this report. nancy? >> nancy: really scary for that clerk, christa. he's now talking about what happened. take a look at this video from willow tree market on charles street in hyannis. you see the robber dressed in black. he threatened the clerk with a gun. at first the clerk thought it was a joke, but then he realized the robber was not laughing. >> i laughed at him because the halloween kind of thing. i thought he's just trying to register, give me all the money, whatever you guys have in there. >> nancy: the man with the gun is a 19-year-old homeless man that the clerk recognized as a regular customer from another store. in the end, police arrested three people in connection with the robbery. in the newsroom, nancy chen, 7news "today in new england." >> christa: all right, nancy, thank you. police in walpole trying to figure out who handed a minivodka bottle to a child on halloween. the six-year-old boy's parents found this green apple vodka bottle in his bag after taking him who find a similar item in their children's candy bags are urged to call police. >> sarah: we're now hearing from a teen who was at the lowell house party where a sarah ward says she saw ethan costello badly injured after someone allegedly slammed his head on the ground friday night. she says she tried to get help, but everyone was too drunk to do anything about it. >> i don't think i even saw him breathing. his eyes were open. he was staring at me, but his pupils with so dilated that they would not focus. he's foaming everywhere, blood everywhere. i'm telling... no one would move out middleborough. what happened on route 44 tuesday afternoon. investigators say four cars were involved and one of them burst into flames. traffic was backed up for more than an hour as crews worked to clear the scene. four people suffered non-life-threatening injuries. >> christa: and the driver of an s.u.v. involved in a boston fire engine crash has been cited by police for failure to stop investigators say the driver pulled into the path of this fire engine with its lights and sirens on. this was monday. the chain-reaction crash damaged several cars, injured one civilian an four cleared. good news, hopefully that will be better. 95 northbound at mechanic it has cleared. there were ambulances on scene. no word of injuries. but the backup stretches back to 495 from that. on the pike, stop and go from framingham into boston. also still watching this crash on 128 northbound at great plain avenue. route 2 and 3 slow and go traffic, 93 stop and go all the way back to 495. and you're stop and go heading into town on route 1. take a look at those drive times if you're getting ready to head out the door. 26 minutes on the 14 minutes into town on the pike from 128. 93 southbound, 128 to the zakim bridge, 25 minutes this morning. the "t" and commuter rail running on schedule. >> sarah: breaking news in randolph. a serious crash on i-93 leaves a driver trapped in the wreckage. >> christa: good samaritans stopped on this highway trying to help the driver after the car you see there landed upside down. it was on a guardrail. let's go toen 7'sology oliverio. she has more. >> nicole: christa, a wild sight. that driver out of the car. if i step out of the way, this traffic, that's regular rush hour, nothing to do with that accident. but this all happened just after 3:00 a.m. right on 93 south between exits five and six on the braintree-randolph line. crews say this a driver somehow flipped the car. it landed on the roof on top of a guardrail. that driver trapped insideful several good samaritans pulled over trying the see if you could roll the car off of the guardrail or get that driver out. they couldn't. so firefighters from both randolph and braintree jaws of life to get that driver out. it took about 40 minutes, but miraculously that driver was alert and conscious and then taken to a hospital with unknown injuries. it's unclear exactly what caused this accident, but we did notice that the two front tires were missing. it's unclear if that happened before the crash or if that happened as a result of the impact of the accident. we're live in braintree, nicole oliverio, 7news "today in new england." >> christa: also breaking, we have safety concerns to talk about in westford where a train materials derailed. crews worked through the night to try the secure the train, and 7's victoria warren is on the scene. vicki, the next job is for them to upright that train you were reporting. >> that's right. that's going to be an all-day kind of job. but there is some good news. take a live look down at the train down here. there is no spill involved with this derailment, which is very good news. one of these train cars is carrying some hazardous cleaning supply. so we have video from last night happened. this is right around 8:40 last night. six train cars coming off the tracks here in westford. and they don't exactly know why. that's pretty concerning to one town selectman i spoke to because he says this is the second derail. in almost the exact same location in recent history. so he's trying to figure out why this has happened yet again. last night they did a reverse 911 call to folks who live within a mile of this area, telling them they might have to evacuate because of those hazardous materials on board, but again, the good news is any of. this so taking a live look out here, now the next problem is going to be removing this train. so they're going to be bringing in some heavy equipment today, but they do say that is going to be an all-day kind of process. there were no injuries reported with this derailment. live this morning in westford, victoria warren, 7news "today in new england." >> christa: doorstep of an apartment complex. officers say the death is suspicious. the woman was found near the rita hall apartments. investigators believe the victim died yesterday morning. officers have identified her, two people rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a truck in woburn. police say the 71-year-old man and 67-year-old woman were in the crosswalk walking to a bus stop when they were hit. detectives say the driver stayed at the scene. >> christa: and detectives are hoping a key clue will help them solve a crime in a quiet upscale neighborhood. masked men storm entering a woman's bedroom tying her up and then robbing her. this all happened in sterling and we're going to go live to 7'nn this morning. jen? >> jennifer: christa, police here in sterling say the three robbers got away in the couple's cadillac. they ditched it though, and detectives have been going over that cadillac for fingerprints. any clue that could lead them to the suspect. police say at 10:00 yesterday morning, three men dressed in black with masks and gloves on broke into the house on stephanie anne lane. a 70-year-old woman was home alone at the time. her hands an feet were bound with tape. they got away with about $1,000 in cash according to police. after the intruders left, the woman was able to free her hands and call police. again the suspects got away in the couple's cadillac, but it has since been recovered and is now a key clue. police say they believe this was not a random crime, but they're not saying why they think this particular couple
