They will more than likely require an International Response to this event. This will be a catastrophic storm not just because of the heavy rain which in and of itself, a stalled system, a lot of rain would be an issue but hurricane making landfall as we speak across the western tip of the peninsula. That will bring in the 145 Miles Per Hour winds and rainfall and water pushed from the caribbean over the peninsula here. That is going to likely result in ten to 12 feet of storm surge. That is the water that comes up and quickly. That will be an issue. The other problem is this thing is intensifying. Yest now 145 and hold figure not getting stronger with the last few satellite images here. Now, the thing with matthew, the Hurricane Force winds, the destructive winds extend out 40 miles. Trop came storm force 155. It looks like a large storm and it is, the worst of the weather is contained in a 40mile area. Its clipping western haiti and eastern cuba. Guantanamo will get hit big time, not just the base but the county itself then emerges up to the bahamas. Here we will deal with a different matthew. Want the wind field could expand. That tends to happen. The Hurricane Force winds extend further. If it doesnt happen, its close enough to the peninsula of florida where we will likely get hurricane watches this morning or midday. The track has not changed for the first 24 to 48 hours but has changed the later part of the period in that it will move further west than we were anticipating. The high pushing it is getting stronger here. We will have a westerly push. That involves a lot of our central counties. I dont think we will get Hurricane Force winds in polk Highlands County but we could get Tropical Storm force winds. Then on the eastern side of the peninsula, some models are crashing this into florida. Some take it to the north. By the time we get into thursday and friday. For us, its a dry part of the storm that we will be under. The winds will be 40 to 50 across the interior counties if the track holds as it is and we are on the drier side of the storm. Not so much rainfall. The east coast completely different forecast. I will tell you meteorologists waking up this morning across our sister stations in south florida, West Palm Beach will be paying close attention to this. Now we are talking about Hurricane Force winds impacting with eastern from here thursday and into friday. I will keep a close eye on matthew still aways away. It must be watched closer because the track has continued to shift to the west. For us today, it will be pouring. Not matthew, nothing at all with it. There is an easterly flow indirectly associated with matthew. Its a tropical air mass that we are under that will fire this afternoon. Coverage about 50 . That continues. What will actually happen as matthew gets closer, if this pans out, we will turn drier on the western side of matthew and turn windier by thursday and friday.
