"the lowell sun" reports the house was vacant. firefighters were dousing hot spots well in the overnight hours and fortunately no one was hurt. randy: two people are recovering after pulled out of the water near weymouth. people called 911 after hearing people screaming. a kayaker near parnell street heard the yells and paddled out to try to help the men who had been in a rowboat. a quincy police boat arrived and brought the men back to shore and taken to south shore hospital. emily: right now the teenager accused of murdering his teacher is preparing to return to court and will be the first time we see phillip chism since his trial came to an abrupt halt. randy: sera kongi is in salem on what to expect. sera: all eyes will be on this danvers teen. his murder trial was stopped last month after he started exhibiting training behavior, banging his head on the wall, a table and floor of his holding cell. that raised questions whether the 16-year-old is competent to stand trial for the rape and murder of his high school math teacher colleen ritzer. prosecutors have called chism's behavior an act and they said it's fake. the journal in the case ordered the teen so undergo a mental health evaluation. that evaluation is complete and has been filed with the court but it is under seal right now. we expect to learn more at today's hearing at 9:30 this morning. you can follow along live on wcvb.com as well as our mobile news app. live in salem, sera congi newscenter 5. randy: right now a new mother is recovering from this violent crash, the impact forcing her to give birth two months early. erika tarantal joins us for what witnesses say is responsible for the crash. erika: they say newscenter 5 two people drag racing forced the woman and her husband off the road. brittany beaudoin and her husband were three miles from their house when they were caught by vehicles on beech street and it clipped the couple saab which flew into a utility pole. she and her husband survived but she was forced to a emergency c-section. >> we're thanking the stars all three survived, baby boy aden was supposed to be due on christmas. erika: mom, dad and baby are all doing ok at this point. police have not decided what charges to bring against the driver who hit them. randy? randy: right now an infant's death is under investigation in sandwich. state police and the department of children and families are on this case. the child was found unresponsive in a home on short lane yesterday. the one-month-old was sbrounsed dead at cape cod hospital. the district attorney's office says there are no obvious signs of trauma or foul play. emily: several develops in the growing open oid problem. todd: this morning the governor will kick off the new mission to take the stigma out of addiction, a new media campaign developed in part by a federal grant. governor baker calls the stigma of open oid -- open yoid -- opiod addiction, and why people he put on a ad campaign warning parents of the risk facing teenagers. there's evidence of a toll this is taking. two people died from expected heroin overdoses in new bedford since friday and both under 30 years old. in haverhill four people overdosed and no one died. the situation is so bad in new hampshire, maggie hassan wants lawmakers to come back for a special session and focus just on the abuse craze. reporting live, todd kazakiewich. news 5. emily: this dog owner is warning others. wal-mart is defending their product saying there is a warning label. kelly pasquariello said she gave jake the hambone and within moments jake couldn't walk and thousands of emergency surgery saved his life. kelly: it splintered as he ate it and pieces the size of the tip of my finger got stuck in his small intestine. you google the bone and it comes up with so many stories of pets either losing their life or they need emergency surgery like jake. emily: the hambone warning was issued five years ago after pet owners complained. the company that makes that bone, dynamic pet, says it goes above and beyond safety requirements. veterinarians say pet owners should stay away from artificial bones. randy: republican presidential candidate donald trump will be in new hampshire today and the republican will file candidacy papers in the statehouse in concord. yesterday he signed copies of his new book at trump towers in new york city. another nice, mild day on the way here for early november. the difference today, light winds and a sea breeze developing. along the coastline will be 10-15 degrees cooler than yesterday. you need to be dressed for that today. near record highs surging at us back in the low 70's it appears briefly colder over the weekend. temperatures settling back to where they should be this time of year but it looks like we'll get warm again heading into next week as well. so far, i know it's early on but we're three days in to the month of november and look what we're doing. averaging close to 9 degrees above normal per day so far and looks like today once again will be above the average. we have high pressure right on top of us this morning. this will keep the winds light and as they turn to the southeast will allow the sea breeze to develop. mostly sunny skies and there will be a sea breeze. upper 50's to around 60 at the coast. mid 60's over the interior as those winds turn southeasterly but keep in mind the average high this time of year is 55 degrees. there are the 70's from philly to d.c. and more in the midwest, chicago in the lower 70's and that's the warmth streaming in our direction. it will come with more clouds tomorrow, partly sunny skies upper 60's to near 70.
