Investigators believe this was a carefully preplanned attack. Authorities have revealed the identity thes of the two suspects they believe are responsible for the mass shooting at inland regional center. The pair identified as 28year old syed farouk and his wife 27 yearold Tashfeen Malik fled the scene of the massacre in a black suv. Both suspects died in a gun battle with police just two miles away if the shooting. Inside the suv, investigators found assault rifles and semi automatic hand guns. Based upon what we have seen and how they were equipped, there had the to be some degree of planning. Reporter Officials Say syed farouk an Environmental Specialists for San Bernardino and then returned a short time later dressed in assaultstyle clothing and armed with guns. Just numb. I called my kids and said if something happens to me, theres a shooting here, just be safe. Happening today, a bronx man accused of stabbing his wife and taking their 3year it follows an amber alert on tuesday and an arrest of the man. Moments later, they took the girl out of the van. The girl as mother is in the girls mother is in critical condition. Overall, crime is down and murders are up. That is the update on the citys crime figures from Police Commissioner bill bratton. He says the city will have a record low in major crimes this year, including rape, robbery, assault and burglary but more than last years 298, about 20 to 25 additional cases. Its the First Time Since 2010 the murder rate will top the previous years. Hours after parliament authorized the bombing, Royal Air Force jets began attacking targets in syria. We have a pattern now of Mass Shootings in this country that has no parallel anywhere else in the world. And theres some steps we could one of the Mass Shootings but to improve the odds that they happen as frequently. The president said the measures include common sense gun safety laws and stronger background checks before purchases. This is just the latest high profile killing spree in the u. S. There have been three Mass Shootings since last fridays attack in colorado springs. So far this year, there have been 355 Mass Shootings in the u. S. Andrea grymes has more live in cliffton this morning. Reporter well, chris and mary, cliffton police say the five Elementary School students went to school 11 here. They are 10 years old. And one possibly 11 years old. Police say this was not a prank, that they were planning to do damage or detonate a device at nearby cliffton high school where they were reportedly were going to be going on a field trip. And police tell us that teachers and administrators found suspicious letters and writings from the students stating they were going to attack the high school. So they contacted cliffton pd. Police say they did find a device but it did not have explosive properties. They tell us this is an isolated incident and theres no safety issues at the schools. The five students were detained and released to their parents. Working with the passaic Prosecutors Office to determine if charges will be filed. An update the on a suspect who escaped nypd custody for more than a month, the 39year old Gerald Brooks was recaptured tuesday night in queens. Back on october 20th, Police Arrested brooks in East New York for driving without a license. He is accused of shoving an in handcuffs. Still to. Morning beginning with Chris Martinez in San Bernardino. Reporter authorities have revealed the identities of the two suspects they believe are responsible for the mass shooting at inland regional center. The pair identified as 28year old syed farouk and his wife, 27yearold Tashfeen Malik fled the scene of the massacre in a black suv. Both suspects died in a gun battle with police, just two miles away from the shooting. Inside the suv, investigators found assault rifles and semi automatic hand guns. Based upon what we have seen and based upon how they were equipped, there had to be some degree of planning that went into this. Reporter Officials Say syed farouk an Environmental Specialestists for San Bernardino county left a Holiday Party in actor and then returned a short time later dressed in assaultstyle clothing and armed with guns. People inside during the shooting describe a very chaotic scene. Just numb. I was just in disbelief. Something happens to me, theres a shooting here, just be safe. Reporter appearing with local muslim leader, syed farouks brotherinlaw condemned the attacks and expressed his remorse. I am very sad, like deeply sad and shocked that Something Like this happened. Reporter as the Investigation Continues to unfold, Authorities Say they have not ruled out terrorism as a motive. It is a possibility but we dont know that yet. And were not willing to go down the that road yet. Reporter authorities worked late into the night at the scene of the deadly shooting after bomb squads found and detonated a suspicious pipe bomb device inside. And syed farouks brotherin law told us that the two suspects were married for two years and the couple has a six monthold daughter. And officials are telling us that they know that at least two of if four guns that they say the suspects used here were purchased legally. Chris and mary, back to you. The suspects work history where the shooting took place . Reporter chris, what we know is that he was a county employee for five years. He was an environmental inspector. He inspecked restaurants for cleanliness and inspected pools around the area for chlorine he will. And we know that he attended this very same banquet where the shooting happened today last year. So he was familiar with the event. And no doubt very familiar with a lot of the folks there. A lot of them were coworkers who he used to see every day. The nypd not taking any chance after yesterdays deadly shooting in San Bernardino. Janelle burrell is live with more. Reporter well the nypd says they had actually already planned to have extra security out here for the ceremony in light of the recent terror threats against new york city out here last night said that the shootings in california made them much more aware with those victims on their minds. [ no audio ] reporter there were thousands out here at the Tree Lightinger is theyny last night and mixed in with the crowd were a lot of Police Officers heavily armed from the nypd. A lot of people had to go the through various Security Check points to get in here to the ceremony but again, the nypd stresses that the there has not been any specific or Credible Threats against the tristate area. The nypd wasnt taking any chances after yesterdays deadly shooting in San Bernardino. Security was extra tight for the Tree Lighting last night at Rockefeller Center. Janelle burrell is live with more. Reporter yeah, chris, there were thousands out here last night for that ceremony. That they were much more aware in light of the shooting in california. Even before the shooting though, the nypd had planned an increase in security. About 15 increase for the Tree Lighting here last night because of terror threats targeted toward new york city last month. So along with the spectators, there were heavily armed officers mixed into the crowd. And all of the people who attended the ceremony had to go through multiple Security Check points. Most of the people in attendance telling us that they werent going to let the threats or even fear after the San Bernardino shooting keep them from taking part in the holiday tradition. We cant live our lives worried about it. Whatever they can do to protect the people, do it. Reporter now the nypd stresses that there are no specific or Credible Threats against the tristate area at this time but they are still urging the public to remain extra vigilant, especially further into the holiday season. Earlier we talked about a motive, workplace violence, terrorism . What do you think . Well, i think its a combination of both. This just wasnt planned spontaneously. They were dressed with tactical body armour, masks, long gun, pipe bomb, this wasnt just done in a few hours before the attack. So this was something that had been planned for weeks, if not months, what triggered the actual attack is a different story. Was there a dispute that the triggered the attack . Prematurely . But there was something going on more than meets the eye and thats what the investigators are now working on, until they figure out exactly what because this isnt your run of the mill is that something that triggered with you when you were watching the coverage . I know its near los angeles and its a big Fbi Department to begin with, second to new york but so have to many on the scene so quickly, there was something more to this than just workplace violence. And the fact that they were not say, they didnt want to use the word terrorism right away but werent ruling it out. To me, thats a flag. When you have the fbi and atf taking the lead on the investigation right away. And give us an idea at what you think is happening in the next few hours to determine exactly what happened here. And to prevent it from happening again. They are studying everything about these people. Who their families are, their friends and associates, their email address, text message, phone calls. Apparently the shooter, the male shooter traveled to saudi arabia in april for a month. What happened there . Going to be asking their Intelligence Services to give us informing as to who he spent time there with and here. There were reports that there are other middle eastern people that had moved into the community in the last few weeks. Is that accurate . If so, who are they . Where are they . And are they part of a bigger cell. And one quick bit of advice, for people watching and seeing Something Like this, obviously this is in a remote Regional Hospital area. What do you tell people if they fear having Something Like this happen in their workplace . I know we give conflicting reports as to go and hide or subdue the attacker . Unfortunately, this is the new norm. And we have to be aware of surroundings, know wherer. Five Elementary School students are accused of plotting an attack on a high school. Andrea grymes has more live in clifton this morning. Reporter well, chris, good morning to you. The five students investigators say attend the school behind me. Cliftons school 11. They say theyre 10 years old, one might be 11. But police say it was not a prank, that the students were planning to do damage or detonate a device at nearby Clifton High School where they were going on a field trip. Police tell us that teachers and administrators noticed suspicious letters and writings from the students stating they were going to attack the high school. They contacted clifton police. And police say they did find a device but it did not have explosive materials in it. They tell us this is an isolated incident and theres no safety issues at the schools. The five students were detained police say they are working with the passaic Prosecutors Office to determine if charges will be filed.
