next. good morning. this is nbc10 news today. thanks for being with us. i am rosemary connors. just after 5:30 this saturday. a little cool out there. we get to sunshine later on. let's get more on the forecast from meteorologist krystal klei. >> good morning. i love when we have a weekend forecast with a nice forecast, typical for this time of year because events are going on, walks, concerts, anything in the afternoon. going to be a nice forecast today. temperatures are on the chilly side. 43 degrees in philadelphia but clear across the board. 35 in new jersey and 39 in delaware. these temperatures although starting chilly bump up nicely in the afternoon. with sunshine bearing down through the afternoon, should be a great day to be outdoors. 63 in philadelphia. low 60s for new jersey and 60 in the lehigh valley. delaware at 63 degrees. the temperatures that we see are close to average for this time of year. we should be around the low 60s. in fact, the actual average in philadelphia is 60 degrees. there's the radar and satellite. no rain near us. today is a dry one. that dry stretch keeps going. in a few minutes, a closer look at how long until the next chance for rain. >> thanks for that, krystal. look at this massive water main break. it is causing headaches for store owners in a philadelphia shopping center. they're going to be doing plenty of clean up later today in east falls. this is some of the mess left behind. 6 million gallons of water poured out of the main leaving drivers stranded and leading to water rescues. monique braxton is live at the shopping center to fill us in on details about the break. v >> reporter: it is quiet, the barricades are posted to keep onlookers and other folks away. you can hear the cleaning equipment in the background, the dryers going full speed. sky force is over baker center moments after the 48 inch main broke. the water department tells us as much as 6 million gallons of water gushed out of control. we saw some of the 75 people rescued. another 150 needed to be sheltered in place. some carried by huge raft boats. one man was trapped in his car as water was rising and rising. officials tell us dozens of cars are totalled in all, some with water up to the windshield. >> i panicked, ran through the water, water was up to my thighs. >> it was scary. i didn't know what was going to happen. >> reporter: fortunately the owner of a business told us his insurance barely covers the damage and they have been through this before. water department tells us there were already million dollar plans to replace this particular break which has broken for the second time yesterday. the cause of the massive water break, the fourth in the community since january of 2014 is still being determined. throughout the day we will check with frustrated merchants to find out when they hope to reopen. live in east falls, monique braxton, nbc10 news. >> thanks for that, monique. septa strike day five. it will be another day as people try to get around philadelphia without busses, trolleys, subways. septa and transport workers union plan to meet at the negotiating table this weekend to try to end the strike but are preparing legal arguments. a judge ruled on septa's request to force union employees back to work. septa called for an emergency hearing on the matter and claim delays on regional rail and poor school attendance and traffic present a danger to safety and well-being of septa drivers. the union says the strike is inconvenient but doesn't present that kind of danger. the judge will hear more evidence on the matter at a hearing monday morning and will hear arguments how the strike could effect the election come tuesday. >> if the campaigns are concerned about, they're beating the drums loudly to get more and more people to get to the polls. i don't think it will be an issue. >> job number one is to settle the strike, we continue to work on that around the clock and working hard with the union to do that. >> there's no time frame on when negotiations resume but we'll be following them through the weekend and bring you updates as soon as we have them. let's check in with from the other car went to the hospital. we are working to find out their conditions and will keep you posted. police say a former rutgers university student returned to its business school and stabbed a faculty member and a student and himself. they said there was a stabbing on campus. all three went to the hospital, officials haven't released their conditions. no charges have been filed on this thursday this week. here's what we know. nearly 5,000 absentee ballots came in yesterday, still more than 12,000 ballots haven't been returned. they didn't start to send them out until october. they're investigating why the first ballots went out so late. what we know is that the county decided it is such a severe problem, they got a court order to give them more time to send ballots back. absentee voters have until tuesday. i am focused on the election next tuesday, we will take a look at all the processes and see where we can improve internally, externally, anything we can to improve, we will absolutely improve this extremely important responsibility and one that i take very seriously. >> montgomery county extended vote in person hours until election day. all you need is an absentee ballot on file. if you have a problem at the polls tuesday, we want to hear from you. we set up a hot line for election day. if you see a problem to report, call us at the numbers in pennsylvania suburbs. west bradford township, 39 degrees. some in the 30s, others in the 40s. everywhere is close to the same value. he will roy, 32, north wales at 30 degrees. some spots around freezing, meaning some may see frost in the yard this morning. neighborhood forecast, shifting to lehigh valley, cookstown, 38, allentown, 36. most values in the lehigh valley are in the 30s, although we're keeping a couple of low 40s as well to start our saturday. daytime in the 60s later on. you can see why, we are showing you a view on the radar and satellite. we have clear conditions for us. those clear conditions stretch all across the eastern half of the country that we are looking at. we are dealing with high pressure. when we say high pressure, that's a bubble of warm, dry air, keeps out storms and allows temperatures to be nice in the afternoon. we're talking plenty of sunshine for the afternoon forecast. this is what we're looking at. future temperatures in the low 40s now in philadelphia, 30s in surrounding areas, from 5:00 a.m. going through the afternoon. pause that clock around 4:00 in the afternoon. now we're in the low 60s, what we're expecting across the board. doylestown at 60 degrees. going through the evening, overnight into sunday, sunday afternoon very similar. right back to lower 60s across the board. sunday looking nice and sunny, too. actually, we're staying dry in the forecast through the election day forecast. tuesday, temperatures are warmer, mid to upper 60s across the board, sunny to mostly sunny conditions as well. that's across the entire region. we stay dry. not expecting things like rain to be a factor in the voting process come tuesday. here's a look at the ten day on 10. sunny conditions last through tuesday. little dip in
