Today in philadelphia, a federal judge will hear arguments over whether a list of expected conspirators in the bridgegate scandal should be released. The judge ordered the list be made public last month but a person on the list challenged the list claiming his right to due process will be violated. Media outlets are pushing the feds to identify those who allegedly conspired to snarl traffic on the bridge in 2013 to punish the mayor of ft. Lee for not endorsing governor Chris Christies reelection. A bill designed to help child sexual Abuse Victims in pennsylvania is making its way to the state senate after the house has already passed it, but not everyone is on board with the proposed law. Matt delucia is live outside the archdiocese of philadelphia in center city. Matt, leaders there say this bill could end up punishing the innocent. Tell us what that means. Right, tracy. Archbishop Charles Chaput is calling on area catholics to oppose this bill and is hoping their voice will help take down this measure. Were talking about house bill 1947. It passed in the house in harrisburg back in april. Essentially what this bill does is extends the statute of limitations on claims of sexual abuse. It would allow past victims to file claims up until theyre 50 years of age. Right now the limit is age 30. It extends it 20 years. It would eliminate the criminal statute of limitations on future sex abuse cases. Many dont come forward ever. Many dont come forward for decades and decades and decades and their lives are inalterably changed. They have no statute of limitations on the pail and violence that was done on them. I believe the statute should be lifted both criminally and civilly and i supported what was in a sense a compromise measure to get some measure of justice to victims of sexual abuse. She had the supporters there, now the philadelphia archdiocese is calling this bill an attack on the church. Archbishop Charles Chaput has sent out a letter to area parishes this weekend saying that the church is committed to helping survivors of abuse in their healing but calls this destructive legislation and that area catholics will end up bearing the financial burden. The letter calls on parishioners to contact their state senator. The bill is expected to be heard in the state senate in the next couple of weeks. Well be following what happens with that. The family of a victim of the Market Street collapse say they will continue to fight for building safety reforms. c it was three years ago yesterday that this building collapsed in center city killing six people, including ann bryan. Her family is urging the public to support sound construction and demolition safety reforms before another tragedy happens. The city has made some changes to the law, including better training for city inspectors because of the collapse. A convicted contractor and subcontractor who took a plea deal are both serving time in prison for their roles in that collapse. The city meantime is building a memorial at the site. The bryan family is one of those who fought it make it happen. Her parents say they know their daughter will be looking down on memorial with an approving smile. 5 04. 70 degrees outside. I just want to show you this picture stretching down here to the gulf of mexico. This is Tropical Storm colin. Keeping a close eye on this system. Right n]w its about 355 nautical miles away from the upper gulf coast of florida. Tampa, for example, on high alert there. Plenty of Tropical Storm warnings up and down the coast in all these counties in the panhandle. Watching this storm right here, its moving fairly quickly. As i said, about 8 00 p. M. Tonight, the National Hurricane center expects for this system to make landfall.
