They have not released that information yet. But i can tell you that there was a time this morning when the charges against him seemed to multiple by the minute. This is the man who police say put parts of northeast philadelphia on edge this morning. Parents tell us they were scared to send their children to school. The fear started after this man escaped from a Police Cruiser while he was handcuffed. Officers had been on his tail since before 6 00 a. M. When he krared into a police car on the boulevard and kept driving. His dark colored sedan then crashed with two more vehicles down the road at somerdale avenue. One of the victims there, an off duty state trooper. When the trooper approached the car, he fought back but police were quickly on the scene an put him in handcuffs. But somehow he managed to break out of the patrol car and he ran off. They searched the area for hours looking for their happenhandcuf until someone spotted him in an alley. People nearby have shared their relief. I just heard the helicopters and the alert came on high phone and just kept praying that they caught the guy and he didnt hurt anybody. Reporter and there are no reports of anyone approached or hurt by this man during the ordeal. I also asked police about the whereabouts of those two other men that they want to talk to. They were passengers in the suspects car. At this time their whereabouts are not known. Katy zachry, nbc 10 news. Meantime Philadelphia Police are also imagining several shooting investigations this morning. Nine people were shot in a matter of hours overnight. Two of the victims died. The latest happened near a Public Housing complex on jackson street in south philly. A man shot there is being treated at the hospital. This map marks all six shootings that happened in cedarbrook, ger plan town, frankfurt, parkside and toms creek. Investigators blame the spike on the warm weather because it brought more people outside. Speaking of the warm weather, our springlike weather is coming to an end for now. Today a big difference, about a 20 degree drop all due to a cold front just offshore and look at these northwesterly winds. Yesterday we had southwesterly, nice and warm, and now strong northwesterly. 14 at philadelphia, 13 for millvale and 14 for dover. Atlantic city, 15 might les perr minute wind speeds for you. And they will get stronger as the cold front continues to push offshore. Otherwise right now temperatures are pretty mild. They will get colder as the day progresses. If you look at the bottom of your screen, you will see your local neighborhood forecast and you will see that as the day continues, those temperatures will get colder and we will be trending colder into this upcomiup ko upcoming weekend. Saturday temperatures only in the 30s. And we aare tracking some light snow. We do warm up by sunday into monday. Monday will be dry and temperatures will be in the 40s and then 50s and 60s by next tuesday and wednesday. The department of justice will release its interim final report on philly police in about 30 minutes. For several years the doj has been tracking efforts to improve Community Policing and to cut down on the use of deadly force. In december 2015, federal officials reported police made significant progress putting into practice the recommendations that the doj made earlier that year. Meantime the Justice Department also plans to release its report on Chicago Police today. This follows a year along civil rights investigation there. Its expected to find a pattern of abuse and violations. Happening now, monsignor william lynn is back in a courtroom in hopes of avoiding a new trial. Is this new video of lynn arriving for a hearing. Hes accused of covering up child sex abuse by priests. Today a judge could decide whether to dismiss the case all together. The new trial is scheduled for may. Lynn was released from prison last august after his conviction becau was overturned. And new details ones fattah case, letters have been sent to president obama asking for a pardon. Fattah is due to report to prison later this month. This morning a veteran who served in iraq is recovering from a gunshot wound suffered during a robbery outside his house in philadelphia. Jason rivers showed us where he was shot in the left hip. He said he was cleaning his car tuesday night when two armed men confronted him and demanded his car. The 42yearold fought them off and ran and thats when the men shot him. The marine corps veteran told us his military training helped him handle the situation. I could tell by the body chemistry walking slow, so i knew something was about to happen. So i pushed off and ran down the street. Police are looking for the men who shot rivers and stole his wallet. Friends will gather for the murdered teen grace packer. The public is invited to pay respects and share memories of the 14yearold who was abused and killed. Memorial service is on monday at new light presbyterian church. Social workers will also hold a Community Forum on monday to talk about the signs of child abuse. Authorities are charged packers adoptive mother sarah in graces death. And sarahs boyfriend is also charged. The two are accused of murdering the teen and dismembering her body. A new study finds that a womans Blood Pressure before she gets pregnant could determine whether she has a boy or girl. That boat found near an island in the back bay between the southern he said of looend of l island. The search is from the water and the air. Officials tell me the man may be a clammer. No one heard from him since last night when he called someone to say the boat had run aground. They went out looking for him and they were able to find the watercraft. There is an active search. The officers caught him again just before 9 30. Heres what we know. Police say the whole thing started when a car hit a philly Police Cruiser on roosevelt boulevard. The driver tried to get away hitting a state troopers car just after 5 30 this morning. The trooper got out, thats when Police Say One of the men in the car attacked him. Police officer arrested the suspect, but the man managed to escape the patrol car while wearing handcuffs. And he was recaptured hours later. Police would like to talk to two other men who were in the car are with the suspect. Now taking a look at the other headlines were following, Police Investigating several shootings that happened in a matter of hours overnight. Nine people in all were shot. Six separate incidents. So nonetheless we have much colder air sliding into place. Again as that cold front pushes offshore, so the story is like this. We will see temperatures starting to dip into the low 40s by 6 00 p. M. In philadelphia and then 30s by 10 00 p. M. That will be the trend to today. Those temperatures are going to finally hit the 30s later tonight and 20s by early tomorrow morning. He says the man broke into his house tuesday fight. Gonzalez says he fought with the map and eventually able to restrain him will even though he says the suspect stabbed him during the struggle. Gonzalez says the suspect stabbed him in his hip, his hand, his arm, but hold the man down until police got there. The doors to the philly home show are open and we got a preview this morning.
