these showers are on the move. we have one round and this is likely to be the last. the showers at the shore. those are fast-moving, too, and they'll be offshore by this afternoon and we'll see these come to an end during the morning. the wind, they've been picking up, but look at this. we've got rain, wind, it's the last day of february and the temperatures are in the 50s and 55 degrees in wilmington and it's up to 50 degrees in allentown and that was the cold spot this morning. it dropped below freezing first thing this morning and that was the only place that saw any cold air this morning. an unusual day and not just because it's the 29th of february and it only happens once every four years and because these temperatures are so unusual. >> we were in the 60s yesterday and upper 50s today and 4:00 this afternoon and we'll see sunshine. look at the winds. sunny, windy and warm, and this is not going to be the last, vai, of the warm. wait until you see tomorrow's forecast. i'll go into that when i come back in just a few minutes' time. new this morning, philadelphia police arrested a woman and two men in the shooting of a cab driver earlier this month in grace ferry. kristen carroll and michael jones and wilson are facing charges. the trio hopped in a cab and the two men attempted to rob the driver at gun point. the two men both fired at the driver who was hit in the shoulder. the cab crashed and the suspects were on the loose until the tip helped officers track them down. two philadelphia teens are hospitalized after a drive-by shooting and the violence was all caught on camera. the shooting happened at 31st and gray's ferry. in the video you can see the two teens standing outside a chinese restaurant when a car drives by and someone opens fire and one teen ran away and the other ducked inside a restaurant and witnesses heard multiple shots and a 17-year-old was hit in the leg and arm and the 15-year-old is in critical condition and police have not made any arrests. a fight at a party leads to a deadly shooting outside of a cherry hill motel and the shooting happened at the inn around 2:30 sunday morning and police say both the victims were driven in a private vehicle to the hospital. a 17-year-old later died. a 20-year-old man was treated and released. police say both victims were shot inside a car near the motel's front entrance following a fight at a party inside one of the motel rooms. no arrests have yet been made and firefighters say everyone got out of this burning home safely this morning. sky force 10 over buren avenue in camden around 7:30 this morning. it took about a half hour to get this fire under control. investigators are looking into what started this fire. fire investigators are expected to release new information today about a deadly fire in delaware county. a woman was found dead inside this home in boothwin earlier this month. the victim's husband who went back inside to save his wife is recovering in the hospital. and in new castle county police are looking for the driver in the hit and run crash that killed a man. the accident happened just before 9:30 last night in hopes cannen. state police say the car plowed into jeremiah mccarthy as he was trying to cross lancaster pike at ace memorial drive and then the driver took off. mccarthy was not crossing hoyt at a cross walk. if you happen to have information about the crash you are asked to call police and police detoured traffic while investigators did their work. and happening today, one of the men involved in the kidnapping and torture of a philadelphia jewelry store employee is scheduled to be sentenced. khayree gay pleaded guilty to last year's botched robbery attempt at the national watch and diamond exchange. gay and another man did surveillance on the store after being recruited by salahudin shaheed. the three men approacheded a female employee in a parking garage in april. they useded a stun gun on her and then bound her and dumped her in a cemetery. shaheed was sentenced to 30 years behind bars earlier this month. his accomplice basil buie received a 15-year sentence. a court is scheduled to hear arguments involving new jersey senator bob menendez. he is charged with bribery and fraud. ross cure thes say he took gifts and campaign contributions from a florida eye doctor in exchange for political favors. menendez has pleaded not guilty. a key issue in this case, and a key issue that the judge will consider in this case is the constitutional protection given to house and senate members when they perform legislative duties. family and friends remember cara mccollum, a former miss new jersey at funeral services this weekend. mccollum was laid to rest in arkansas. a memorial service will be at the ocean city tabernacle. and cara died following a car crash and bad weather. she was a news anchor at smj today based in melville cumberland county and was the girlfriend of nbc 10's keith jones. donald trump versus the earpiece. what donald trump is saying after growing criticism after how he responded to the interview about the kkk and david duke. well, quarter of a 11:00, we are tracking rain showers this morning, but they're not going to last much longer. vai and i went on the air at 4:00 this morning, seven hours ago and these were the rain showers that were in western pennsylvania and central pennsylvania at this time. they are going to quickly move through and in fact, they're going to get blown through the area and the winds have been pretty steady this morning. they're really going to kick in this afternoon and in spite of the rain and in spite of the wind it will be a mild day today and a mild start to march. tomorrow will be a warm one and we will see lots of sunshine tomorrow and we'll get to see some sunshine today. it's clearing out in redding and 53 degrees and the rain is falling in philadelphia right now and it's light rain that will not last much longer and 51 degrees if you haven't left the house, wait a little bit and those showers will be blowing right out of here and you'll see a few more rain showers in cape may before you get to see sunshine and 54 degrees and it will only be rain and cape may doesn't look rainy, does it? clouds are overhead and seeing scattered, light rain showers at the shore and you can see the first route and they're starting to taper off and just a light rain shower in atlantic city and this line is more than sprinkles and the light rain is pushing out of philadelphia and now in camden and burlington county and at the shore, tom's river is seeing light rainfall shift bottom, as well and this extends to the north, but it is only rain for us which is so unusual here, the 29th of february, and it is mild, in fact, to find the snow associated with this you have to go way to the north into canada and northern maine. that's where the colder air is. we'll see no sign of colder air until we get to the end of the week and then things are changing and this is why the rain is moving so fast. at 1:00 this afternoon our futurecast showing wind gusts out of the west at 34 miles an hour in philadelphia and it will continue blowing into the afternoon, and a 20 mile-an-hour wind in philadelphia and look at cape may at 32 miles an hour and the clouds won't have a chance today and they'll blow right on out of here and the showers quickly clearing out and gusty winds and those will stay with us through this afternoon and very unusual to have temperatures this warm late in february. the latest possible day in february, i might add. >> tomorrow here comes your mild one, the beginning of march and in like a lamb. our skies will be clear. so a lot of the temperatures to fall overnight, and then another wet and windy one on wednesday, this time that wind and the rain will be followed by some colder air and you'll feel it on thursday, but we will see plenty of sunshine on thursday. the big question mark at the end of the week, will it be cold enough and will the storm be close enough to give us some rain and snow. it's a chance for friday. by saturday, it's out of are fast-moving showers moving through this morning and out of here first thing this afternoon and seeing a little bit of rain in atlantic city and this is the line just clearing through philadelphia and it's really just a minimal amount of rain and it's already drying out. look at 95 and i don't want see any sign that rain has just moved through, but what we will see is a little bit of a shake in the camera. that's the wind that we will see for the balance of the afternoon and the wind's now at 9 miles an hour in philadelphia and it will kick into gear and we could see gusts topping 30 miles an hour and possibly closer to 40 miles an hour this afternoon. so the clouds that are moving through don't have a chance and there you can see it's brightening up to the west of the city and those thicker clouds will move out and we'll see some sunshine and here it is the last day of february and we have a warm-up. 57 degrees at 1:00 this hafrn and by 4:00, nothing, but sunshine and wind and that wind will be out of the west at 23 miles an hour and 58 degrees at 4:00 today and the wind will start to die down and with clear skies we'll get chillier temperatures overnight tonight and the real cold, vai, will wait until the end of the week and that's when we can see some snow and i'll take a closer look at that possibility when i come back with the seven-day forecast in just a couple arm. two philadelphia teens are hospitalized after this drive-by shooting and the violence was all caught on camera. the two teens were standing outside the chinese restaurant at 31st and tasker streets near gray's ferry when that white car rolled by and someone from that car opened fire. police say a 17-year-old was hit in the leg and the arm. a 15-year-old is listed in critical condition and police have not made any arrests. and a federal appeals court in philadelphia scheduled to hear arguments in the corruption case involving new jersey senator bob menendez, menendez has pleaded not tennessee where erin andrews is expected to take the stand in court today. she will try to make her case for why she deserves $75 million. here is a live look from nashville where andrews will hear directly from the man who took nude videos of her. she says it ruined her career. nbc's morgan radford has our report. >> reporter: erin andrews and the stalker who took video of her naked in a hotel room took the stand today. her mother likely to take the stand after they listened to last week's emotional and sometimes gut-wrenching testimony about how the sports reporter's life changed after the scandalous hotel video went viral. >> she's not the fun person she was. she's scared. she's not the girl that we used to know. >> now she'll get to tell her side of the story. >> it's important for erin andrews to testify to really look the jurors in the eyes and to explain to them how harmful this was to her, how upsetting, how much it has interfered with her life. >> reporter: michael barrett who spent 30 months in prison for the crime won't be in the courtroom, but is expected to testify by video. a divorced father of two, he was an insurance executive with money troubles eight years ago when according to the defense, he came up with a scheme to alter the peephole in andrews' hotel room door and used a cell phone to catch her naked. they say he planned to sell the video, but finding no takers, he posted it on the internet where experts say it will live forever. >> many people have individual copies out there. i don't know of any way -- i can't think of any way to get it off. >> reporter: claiming negligence, emotional distress and invasion of privacy, andrews is suing bear etarrett and the for $75 million. the hotel claims it is not involved and he deceived, c connived to house right now where president obama is in the process of presenting the medal of honor to a member of s.e.a.l. team 6. he is honoring edward byers jr. for 20 twefrl. >> as other rescue team members called out to the hostage chief byers, respond in english and raced towards it. he hopped atop the american hostage and shielded him from a high volume of fire within a small room. while covering the hostage with his body, chief byers immobilized another guard with his bare hands and restrained the guard until a teammate could eliminate him. his bold and decisive actions under fire saved the lives of the hostage and several of his teammates. by his undaunted courage and intrepid spirit and unwavering duty in the way of certain death, chief byers upheld the highest traditions of the united states naval service. [ applause ] >> you're looking at the presentation of the medal of honor to senior chief edward byers, jr., a member of navy s.e.a.l. team 6. he's already earned two purple hearts and five bronze stars and the medal of honor extremely rare because typically it's presented posthumously and most of those who earn it lose their lives in the process. new this morning one of the boston marathon bombers passed the test to become a u.s. citizen, a few months before the deadly bombings. the boston globe got a hold of the documents from the department of homeland security. tamerlan tsarnaev and his brother dzhokhar tsarnaev detonated pressure cooker bombs and three people died and more than 260 people were wounded and tamerlan died in the shootout with police. his brother was sentenced to death for his role in the bombings. the royal caribbean cruise ship that cut short a recent voyage because of bad weather has done it again due to sickness and a storm. the anthem of the seas is headed back to the port of new jersey. you're looking at video from last month's trip. it's seen the norovirus every day for the last week. nbc spoke with a couple onboard celebrating their honeymoon. >> there was a note saying there was a case of norovirus and that they were going to heighten sanitation measures to keep infections down. >> the ship also heeded a storm warning off cape hatter as, north carolina. it is expected back in new jersey on wednesday. a massive fire destroyed a boat storage facility in portland, oregon. this fire started at sundance arena around 10:30 sunday night and an estimated 350 boats were stacked inside the huge facility. not yet clear how many boats were damaged or destroyed in the fire. well over 100 firefighters battled the flames that caused the building to collapse. no one was hurt and no word yet on how the fire started. the 88th annual academy awards provided surprise winners and more than the usual share of controversy. nbc's jennifer bjork lund brings us the highlights from hollywood. to reduce their breast cancer risk by consuming omega-3 fatty acids. professors at the penn college of medicine in hershey think the reduced risk could be tied to the anti-inflammatory effects of the omega-3 fatty acids. women with dense breasts have four to six times risk of developing that breast cancer. parents of difficult toddlers are more likely to use tablets or smartphones to keep the peace. university of michigan researchers found the devices are more likely to be used as coping mechanisms for children with behavior problems. experts say parents of these kids often feel stressed and feel they have little control over their children. apple's reportedly weeks away from releasing a new iphone and ipad. apple is expected to debut a new phone and tablet on march 21st. the first honored to represent them and represent the city of philadelphia. >> it was fun for me to watch your reaction and watching the video and it's probably still a great experience. you advocate for disabilities. tell me why this issue is so important to you and why it's a personal issue for you. >> sure. when i was 11 years old my cousin passed away due to medical complications due to juvenile arthritis and i want to promote inclusion for people with disabilities. >> there was a special tribute saturday night to miss new jersey, 2013 cara mccollum. her boyfriend is my colleague keith jones. was that a powerful moment? >> it was. we had a moment of silence for her during the pageant and they showed a quick clip of one of her music videos that she did for the miss new jersey pageant a few years ago, and we actually managed to collect 86 books for her cause, the birthday book project. so we're happy to keep that going for as long as we can. >> she was a pageant winner like you. >> i think it speaks to the power of the title and the power of the crown that you carry, right? >> of course. >> tell me what your goals are. we chatted here for a few moments and i learned that you are studying communications. >> i am. you one day want to become -- >> a reporter. that's the dream. maybe some day reporting on the red carpet, something like that. i'd like to be in front of the camera some day. >> you keep it up and that may very well happen. right now you're doing an internship. >> i am. in harrisburg. very excited about that. >> going well. learning a lot every day. so -- >> that is fantastic, miss philadelphia 2016 and holly harrar has been our guest. >> thank you so much. >> during your reign, appreciate it. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> getting our weather right today from gusty winds to showers and now we're starting to see the skies lighten up a little bit. you will see sunshine before the day is done. you can see the wind is starting to pick up at the nbc 10 studios and not a lot of rainfall. it will dry out quickly and showers very light in philadelphia international and the temperature, 51 degrees and the southwest winds at 9 miles an hour and they tend to help us warm up and we will see that during the day today. check this out. this is a time lapse of the rain moving through the pocono mountains and unfortunately the mountains saw a rain and it was too warm for anything else and you can see in the distance right there and there go another batch of rain showers moving through and it didn't look like it interrupted the skiing at all and as the day goes on, more and more sunshine will appear. it's still significant cloud cover in the mountains and you can see some breaks of sunshine peeking through and we'll see more and more of that during the afternoon and it will be a mild one in the mountains and show the clouds over scranton and a few breaks in the clouds ahead of that line of clouds and then we will see more sunshine later this afternoon. as far as rain is concerned, it's done in philadelphia, but there are still showers right along the shore and it's light rain showers and it's ended in cape may and it won't be much longer in atlantic city and then we're watching a system that's way to the west. that's snow in south dakota and that's our next rainmaker and that's going to be different than the system that moved through today because that one is going to bring with it colder air that will set the stage for the possibility of snow at the end of the week. today, showers are already coming to an end in philadelphia and the light showers will end at the shore and gusty winds will stay with us through this afternoon. a nice, mild end to february and another nice, mild start tomorrow and march begins tomorrow. 58 degrees and that's after that colder morning. sunshine, bright and a nice, warm breeze on tuesday, but then here comes that rain on wednesday and with it, the colder temperatures that you'll probably feel by late wednesday afternoon and you'll definitely feel on thursday, though it will be sunny on thursday and a chilly one, 29 in the morning and 42 degrees in the afternoon and that's below normal for this time of year and here comes a possibility that we'll see wintry weather on friday and it doesn't look very impressive and most of that storm will miss us, but it might come close enough that we'll get some light rain and we'll be watching friday closely. a break from the wet weather on saturday and a bit warmer for the next is tax-free. no debating and it's not bad for the beginning of march. it didn't last long. it's a live view of the rain moving out and it will be completely out of here for this afternoon. the temperature now 51 degrees and we'll see it warm into the upper 50s today and the winds are going to push the clouds right out of here so you can put the rain gear away and we're already starting to see breaks of sunshine in philadelphia and now as expected, the wind is kicking in and look at the wind gusts for more than 20 miles an hour in wilmington and we can see that this afternoon in philadelphia. that wasn't too bad, was it? >> seeing a few breaks of sunshine this afternoon and more and more sunshine as the day goes on and that steady wind. 50s for today and getting chilly by
