81 in wildwood, more with that onshore wind. 85 in philadelphia right now. mid to low 80s through the lehigh valley. so everyone's temperatures are dropping a bit, especially those of you seeing the cloud cover and if you saw the rain earlier, by 6:00, we will be down to about the mid to low 80s. 8:00 p.m., 77 degrees, still warm and as we get closer to 10:00, mid 70s and very welcome changes as we go into tomorrow. i will show you that forecast for the rest of the weekend and the shorecast coming up. back to center city now. this is a live look at the scene outside the art museum. final preparations are being made to that stage there for this weekend's made in america music festival. nbc 10's jesse gary is live on the ben franklin parkway. >> i know it's busy in that area right now. it will only get busier the closer to showtime, the closer to beyonce hitting the stage in particular. >> reporter: exactly right. that's an understatement when you say busy. this area, 20th and the parkway, is a mess. i will show you, this is better than it had been all afternoon. you can see the line of cars. traffic initially was coming up vine, it was coming up the parkway and coming across from 20th. that created a bottleneck right here and i tell you what, traffic was not moving. ca. it still kind of looks that way now but it's better because it's one line of traffic coming from 20th. as rush hour shifts into slow gear, rising blood pressure from some drivers who say tie-ups mean m.i.a. should say good-bye. >> it's terrible. it's unacceptable. no more made in america concerts. >> reporter: really? you want it to go? >> yes. >> reporter: stretches of center city are a slow go near made in america events. the lines of vehicles grow, patience grows short. how's the traffic? >> you really don't want to know, do you? it's all screwed up. >> reporter: the backups blamed on continuing construction for made in america. the annual two-day concert has venues from the main stage at the rocky steps to the last stage at 21st street. an additional block has been added, increasing the area and increasing attendees by 10,000. concert promoter jim sutcliffe. >> once you have the support of a city it just kind of adds to it. people are friendly. if they haven't been there they send friends here, parents are confident sending their kids here. >> reporter: officials say the large crowds, estimated to be as high as 70,000 people, will generate $8 million to $10 million in economic activity. the deputy mayor says m.i.a. serves as a dry run for the papal visit. >> i want to make sure the city is ready for whatever should happen and we will be. we know how to do this. we know how to do this well. >> reporter: motorists struggling around logan circle are cudubious. >> look at all this traffic. i can't even get to work. >> reporter: tough to get anywhere. to work, home from work. best advice, stay away from this area. we will post a list of street closures on our website and of course, on our mobile app so you can see if you are out and about. but if you can, stay away from this section of center city at least for right now. in the next hour we will take a look at how his review of the pornographic e-mails revealed from the attorney general scandal. 30 minutes ago, seth williams said his office will not fire the three employees named in the e-mails who have since started working in his office. some of those e-mails are six years old. instead of firing them he will send them to sensitivity training. last month 1,000 pages of documents including sexually explicit e-mails were released to the public. kathleen kane's lawyers argued former state prosecutors launched the grand jury investigation against her to protect themselves after she found the e-mails on their office computers. now to developing eagles news and a trade involving one of the team's quarterbacks. >> matt barkley is headed west one day after the birds' preseason finale. the question remains, will tim tebow be in eagles green for the start of the season. comcast sports net's amy fadool is tracking the developments. >> there are new developments in this story. eagles head coach chip kelly had a little wheeling and dealing today concerning one of the more intriguing third string quarterback battles we have ever seen. a move possibly clearing the way for tim tebow to system to sell passes to find out what it takes. >> these rules apply to any event whether it's septa train passes or individual passes to get into specific events. you have a lot of people that want these tickets and there is only a certain amount of them available. so you've got to be mindful of that kind of traffic. people wanting those tickets. >> in the septa scenario they built a lottery krcrash over the weekend. the funeral for sergeant rafael ali was this morning at the mount airy church of god. he was buried at northwood cemetery in philadelphia. the off-duty officer was driving his truck when it crashed into a tree on henry avenue. police believe he was speeding when he missed a curve. he was a ten-year police veteran and leaves behind two children. $20,000 on the table for information about who shot at a police officer in burlington county last year. skyforce 10 was over the scene september 24th of last year in pemberton township. the officer was on patrol when a bullet hit his car. a $20,000 reward goes to anyone who can find and convict the person who did it. two men are in custody accused of burglarizing a home in chester county. police say they stole five hand guns and traded some of them for drugs. 24-year-old tyler snyder allegedly went into his girlfriend home while she and her family were on vacation. police say they found pictures on snyder's cell phone of him in the home with the guns. 20-year-old benjamin ritter is accused of riding to wilmington with snyder and selling two of the guns to a drug dealer for heroin. a bucks county teacher fired for writing about her students on a blog. she cannot use free speech to sue and get her job back. an appeals court today agreed with the lower court's decision to throw out natalie monroe's lawsuit. bucks county school district fired monroe in 2012 after a student discovered her blog and posted it on facebook. in her blog, monroe described her students as rat-like, lazy and the devil's spawn. to our delaware bureau, federal regulators are deciding whether to issue a moratorium on eel fishing in delaware waters. the american eel is on a conservation list. the national marine fishery service says the state hasn't implemented a plan to protect that fish. if regulations aren't in place, the feds will take action. a decision is expected later this month. a winning pick six lottery ticket is worth more than $4 million. the ticket was sold at the stop n shop in whiting, ocean county. the winning ticket holder has not yet come forward. the store that sold the ticket will receive $10,000. as a clerk, the law has to come first. >> reporter: until she abides by that law, federal judge says davis will remain behind bars. jay gray, nbc news. the judge who sent davis to jail happens to be the son of phillies great jim bunning. judge bunning has been on the bench since 2001 when he was appointed by president george w. bush. his father jim bunning played for the phillies in the 1960s and '70s. he is known for pitching a perfect game in 1964. after retiring from baseball, bunning went into politics and served as the u.s. senator from kentucky from 1999 to 2011. switching gears now, boaters will have to slow down in parts of atlantic county. speed restrictions are in place on lake lenape in mays landing. boaters must maintain a speed of five miles per hour. the reason? low water levels. the reduced speed limit is in effect until further notice. today, hot and humid and we even had isolated showers, couple thunderstorms and we still do have a few but most of them have really come to an end. the humidity will stick around for the rest of this evening but then it finally breaks as we start off the labor day weekend so your labor day weather is actually looking really good. i have that forecast in just a minute. right now we are at 82 in allentown, a little rain cooled as well as west chester, 82. 85 in philadelphia. that's really dropped down from where we were earlier today. we hit 93 in philadelphia. we heated up quickly. the rain didn't move in as early so temperatures got hot. now we are really cooling down in wilmington, 81 degrees there. an onshore flow along the beaches in new jersey and also delaware so at the shore, 78 degrees in atlantic city. that's at the airport so closer to the water, we are seeing temperatures even a little bit cooler than that. locally on radar, most of the area's dry. we do have the cloud cover around but a lot of the rain has come to an end except in parts of lancaster county. so that is just to the south of 76 near manheim, one small but heavy shower. the rest of the area has cleared out of the isolated showers we saw earlier this afternoon. live look in the poconos, camel beach water park, very nice day for this and i'm sure a lot of people will be here this weekend. now we'll slide down to the jersey shore. take a look at cape may. beautiful this evening. some cloud cover around the area but for the most part, we are on the dry side. that's how we expect to stay for pretty much the rest of the evening with the exception of some clouds hanging around. big area of high pressure to the north is going to slide down to the south as we go across the weekend so it's looking really good saturday and sunday. here's future weather. 10:00 this evening, we still have the clouds in place, temperatures mid 70s in philadelphia. then we go into saturday morning, more sunshine, low 70s in philadelphia. by 8:00 a.m., upper 60s areas north and west. look at the afternoon hours. 2:00 tomorrow afternoon, sunny skies and look at the temperatures. mid to low 80s. it will be a much nicer day tomorrow. low humidity, not as hot. then sunday morning, some areas could be waking up to temperatures in the 50s, low 60s in philadelphia and through the afternoon sunday, temperatures will be a little bit warmer than they will be on saturday. now, for tomorrow's beach weather, farther south, north carolina, virginia beach, some lingering clouds, mid 80s, possibly some showers. but the farther north you go, little drier. ocean city, maryland near 80 degrees. even more sunshine along the jersey shore and delaware beaches. rehoboth beach tomorrow, 77 degrees. 78 ocean city. a moderate risk for rip currents across the entire weekend. be careful with that. the uv index will also stay high. saturday, sunday and monday, you could burn in about 15 to 30 minutes so you definitely want the sun block this weekend. tonight, early isolated shower possible. otherwise, mostly cloudy, temperatures staying nbc 10's drew smith live in sea isle city. we begin with first alert meteorologist sheena parveen tracking a chance for showers. >> yeah, a lot of the showers we saw earlier today. the good news is they really rained themselves out. unless you're in lancaster county. but the rest of the area looking dry at this point. right near 76 in ephrata seeing heavy showers. we could see a couple more this evening but i think most of it is gone. a thicker cloud cover is in south jersey. that extends to the shore around atlantic city, seeing some cloud cover there. sea isle city not as much. down towards cape may seeing more cloud cover there. here's a live look at cape may. gorgeous day to hit the beaches. the jersey shore, the delaware beaches all looking very nice and dry, so that's a good thing. as we go across the weekend, we will have some very welcome changes. down in sussex county, the beaches in delaware seeing some cloud cover around but into the weekend, we will be seeing nice improvement. here's a look at some of the temperatures along the shore. atlantic city marina coming in at 77 degrees as well as beach haven, sea isle city, 79. cape may, 82. lewes in delaware, 78 degrees. we have a pretty strong onshore wind so it is breezy at the shore, water temperatures are in the mid 70s and this wind actually today, tomorrow, even sunday, possibly monday, will be increasing our risk for rip currents at the shore so be very careful of that over the weekend. mid 80s in philadelphia. mid to low 80s north and west. low 80s through much of south jersey and delaware. as we go through the evening, mostly dry, though we can't rule out another shower closer to the 6:00 hour. i will have the labor day weekend forecast coming up. in the meantime, nbc 10's drew smith probably got the best job of us all today. he's live in sea isle city. you checked in with some businesses just finishing their first summer season at the shore. >> reporter: a lot of them can't complain about the weather. it is a little windy right now. we just caught up with someone getting out of the ocean who says the undercurrent is really strong right now. a lot of people still out enjoying the beach today and they just can't complain about the conditions out here right now. it's been a summer full of pizza pies for christopher jenner who took a chance on a new venture and opened this pizzeria just before memorial day. >> my initial feeling was excitement and anxiety. >> reporter: he says it's hard to stay nervous when delivering pizza along the serene atlantic ocean. >> best decision ever. >> reporter: steadily his customer base grew, including visitors and locals. >> this year was very positive. very positive. especially for being a new business right in the heart of wildwood. >> a very good summer. the weather was good. >> reporter: other shop owners say when the weather cooperates, everyone wins. >> beautiful weather. you can't complain. it's gorgeous. >> reporter: eddie's surf and supply is one of the only new stores on the wildwood boardwalk this year. >> a lot of people like the store. >> reporter: these businesses understand it's these four summer months, they are make or break for the whole year. they are happy with how it went this time and are already thinking about 2016. >> i'm looking forward to next summer already. i don't even want this year to end. i can't believe we are coming down to the last little bit of time. >> reporter: a lot of people plan to make the most of that last little bit of time. some stores told us they will be closing a week after labor day. others plan to be open a little bit longer in september, long as the nice weather holds out. it is pretty windy here right now. we'll send it back to you guys. a popular lehigh county park is closed for the labor day holiday. instead, bethlehem's mayor has chosen to close sawkin park for crowd control. it's known for picnic pavilions and is used by people from new york, new jersey and pennsylvania. beginning tomorrow at dawn, police officers will be stationed at each entrance to the park to keep people from getting inside. the aclu told nbc 10 that it's a shame the mayor couldn't find an alternative solution to the overcrowding. on tuesday, the park will resume normal operations. now to decision 2016. presidential candidate hillary clinton said today she's sorry about her decision to use a private e-mail server. it's being investigated by the fbi now. nbc 10 national correspondent steve handelsman has more. >> i'm going to answer these questions. >> reporter: hillary clinton did not apologize for the e-mail controversy that's crippling her campaign. in her one-on-one with andrea mitchell on msnbc. >> certainly doesn't make me feel clinton but among all voters, that's down to 41%. i'm steve handelsman, nbc news, washington. back here at home, seven rutgers university football players accused in a series of assaults and home invasions in april and may have been placed on interim suspension from the school. the students can appeal that decision but right now, school officials are the ones speaking out. the chancellor of rutgers university released a statement. quote, we have a speedy but fair review process that looks at the nature of actions taken by students that are illegal or that otherwise violate our code of student conduct. our initial review indicates that in these cases, the alleged behavior warrants an interim suspension until additional information becomes available, end quote. a new jersey father murdered his girlfriend and their two young children before setting their house on fire and killing himself. rescuers originally were called to the long branch house for a fire tuesday night. that's when they discovered the four dead bodies including two boys ages 7 and 4. police say the 35-year-old shot them in a second floor bedroom before killing himself. police want help to find the man suspected of shooting several people sunday night in the 5900 block of north 2nd street. victims say a man in a gray dodge charger pulled up and began shooting. in the end three people were struck by gunshots and taken to the hospital. all are expected to be okay. talk about deserving a good tip. a car catches fire outside a local diner. a look at what one waitress was able to go that goes above surprise in the stands stopped action at the u.s. open. a drone crashed down into louis armstrong stadium. police say a new york city school teacher was at the controls. police arrested 26-year-old daniel veerley for allegedly operating that drone which interrupted the match. >> seemed as if that fell from somewhere. >> reporter: no one was hurt but police stopped the match to inspect the device. today at the stadium, tennis fans were torn on the use of drones. >> i don't think they should be allowed to be used. i think they get in the way of the airplanes, too. >> they do need to be surprise. the rotary club was putting out its flags for heroes of september 11th memorial. there are about 120 flags at the corner of 202 and mt. lebanon road. companies and individuals paid $50 to sponsor a flag in honor of someone special, a veteran, first responder or family member in the military. the rotary club is donating that money to the delaware center for homeless veterans. >> they just have an amazing organization. there are folks out there that really need some help. they provide housing. so it seemed like the right thing to do. >> this is the first year this rotary club held this fund-raiser. the flags will stay along route 202 through their 9/11 memorial service next friday. from the nbc 10 south jersey news bureau, frightening moments for a restaurant customer all caught on camera. the engine of a man's car exploded into flames moments after he was able to escape. 85-year-old charlie flowers told nbc 10 he -- hit waitress angela to thank. she ran outside after seeing smoke from his engine. he's a regular at the restaurant. he got to safety with angela's insistence. customers took this video of the car fire on their cell phones. >> it was really dangerous. i thought that the car might explode. >> they said get out. angela helped me out. thank goodness. i appreciate it. >> flowers is a retired army veteran and vineland school teacher. he called angela to thank her today for her heroism. meantime, his insurance will take care of getting him a new car. well, labor day weekend finally here for many of you. the good news is we will start to see welcome changes. meantime, we have maybe a couple isolated thunderstorms around. i don't think it will be an issue for the rest of the evening. we can't rule out the possibility of one or two popping up. otherwise, once all that's done with, humidity will break as we go into your weekend. so a nice break from the humidity that we have seen all week. that's going to lead us into nice weather for your labor day weekend. live look at cape may right now. beautiful conditions. we do have cloud cover but along the shore it's a little windy. that will give us a moderate risk of rip currents through the weekend. winds are sustained closer to 15 miles an hour. temperature in cape may, 79 degrees. the clouds have moved in and with the humidity still in place, feels more like the low 80s. certainly one spot you can go to get relief this weekend, 82 degrees right now in allentown, 84 pottstown, 81 in west chester. philadelphia still coming in in the mid 80s. 78 in glassboro. 83, dover. 78 degrees at the atlantic city airport.8ó( even though temperatures have dropped it's still humid outside and you will notice it will be less humid tomorrow. temperatures won't be as hot as today and yesterday and really, the entire week. most of the area is nice and dry. we are still looking at a couple thunderstorms in lancaster county across 76 near ephrata. this is one heavy thunderstorm. the radar is trying to indicate small hail but this is really the only one we have. that one's not moving much. it should eventually make its way off to the south. future weather showing the rain pretty much coming to an end, or any chance of rain coming to an end by about 9:00, 10:00 tonight. overnight, we start to clear up into your saturday so this leads us to a sunny and less humid start to the weekend. even as we go into sunday, this is going to be the overall weather pattern for your weekend. high pressure moves in from the north and the models have been trying to pick up sunday on some cloud cover moving in to some of the beaches around cape may and points south, but we will be watching that for you. either way, we expect to stay mostly dry. if you are heading to made in america, saturday and sunday mostly sunny, temperatures in about the mid to upper 80s across the area. for beyonce it will be mostly clear with temperatures by then in about the mid 70s. if you are heading to the shore or delaware beaches, temperatures should be around 80 degrees. a lot of sunshine and dry air, especially labor day monday. it will be the warmer day but keep in mind, we will keep the moderate risk for rip currents in the forecast the rest of today and even tomorrow, possibly sunday. water temperatures in the mid 70s but just be aware of that if you are heading there. tonight, early isolated shower possible. otherwise mostly cloudy, 68 for the low in philadelphia, low 60s north and west. tomorrow, a nice day. mid to low 80s, not as hot or nearly as humid. it will be really comfortable, especially as we go into tomorrow night. sunday morning, if you are in the philadelphia area, about the mid 60s for the morning low temperatures. in the suburbs north and west or parts of new jersey, you will be in the 50s sunday morning. for labor day monday, sunny with temperatures around 90 degrees. so still going to feel like summer. even though we are still feeling summer-like temps there is one sure sign summer is winding down. football season's already under way. >> that's right. we are about to take you to one special game that's already in the books. what makes this they're just having a really great time. >> this is our 17th year. we have raised $475,000. we hope to go over to $500,000 this year. we are their number one fund-raiser for the year. >> how you doing tonight? >> usually a kid will be partnered with one of the players. they will meet in the end zone and walk together hand in hand to the 45 yard line. when their names are called. >> special olympians get really amped up. they are very excited. >> anthony was 4 1/2 months old and contracted bacterial meningitis. from that he had lost his hearing and suffered some brain damage and has a seizure sto disorder. he wakes up every morning happy as can be. he's in his glory right now. it's great for him because we go to all the friday night coatesville games. for him to be on the field and see what it's like versus sitting up there, it's been tremendous. i feel so excited for him. i love it. did you have fun? yeah, all right! >> they just have fun. it gives them a really big smile on their face. you let them have that one day where they had a lot of fun. they look forward to it every year. great event. it's a lot of fun. it seems the players get as much out of it as the special is still moving. take a look at the traffic on 76 in university city. this is better than many rush hours we have seen but there's still a lot of cars trying to get to the weekend destinations. nbc 10 county right near 76. we still have the one heavy thunderstorm so heavy rain and quite a bit of lightning. this should be drifting out of lancaster county. it's a pretty slow mover but most of the rest of the area seeing dry conditions. humid conditions, too. some cloud cover in south jersey extending to the shore now. atlantic city down to sea isle city down to cape may, we have that layer of
