Zachary is now being held on 1 million bail for the death of his girlfriends 2yearold son. Prosecutors say he got into an argument with his girlfriend over a Grocery Shopping trip. And dozens of his loved ones and relatives showed up in court today, having to hold back their tears and emotions as they learned that little jamil lost his life defending his mother. Zachary stood with his head down as prosecutor Christine Shaw detailed the final moments of 2yearold Jamil Baskerville jr. s life. The little boy cried after witnessing his mother get hurt. It happened saturday night inside their apartment. The mother was shoved by zachary, who was upset because she didnt buy food she liked. The defendant punched him in the chest. So hard that he went back against the wall and struck the back of his head. Reporter shaw went on to say zachary egged the toddler on to put his hands up to fight. He suffered a crushed liver. A medical examiner ruled it homicide by blunt force. He should be put to sleep because he killed my grandson. Reporter baskervilles family sickened by what they heard. They spoke out, saying they wish new jersey still utilized the death penalty. He shouldnt be sitting in no cell for the rest of his life, eating, getting phone calls and writing letters. Deanna durante is live on the campus of Temple University in north philadelphia. And deanna, you spoke with both students and their parents about concerns of Campus Safety. Reporter yes, school is getting back into session. Some students are starting to move in here. And the senator is the sponsor of a new law that went into effect last year. Now, School Officials say the challenge for them is keeping up with technology, as well as providing the resources that that law asks for. With their bags and blankets, the dorm room essentials didnt begin to move into colleges and universities all around the area. I think when they leave, ill be like, you know, freak out. Reporter freshmen got to know temples campus. This is a cheerleader moving in early. I feel like im getting used to it. Its just knowing your surroundings.
