freelance nbc news photographer who contracted ebola in liberia while covering the outbreak will be flown to nebraska for treatment. meantime, thomas duncan, the liberian who's being treated for ebola in texas, has gotten worse. he is now in critical condition. the head of the centers for disease control and prevention says about 50 people who had contact can duncan have been located and tested. so far, no one is showing symptoms. >> so we are contact that none of those with definite contact had any symptoms related to ebola. none of them had fever. we'll be watching that very closely. >> meantime, bed sheets and mattresses have been taken out. eventually all items will be taken out and destroyed. the ebola risk will be the topic on this morning's "meet the press." chuck todd and his guests will talk about how the u.s. is handling the response, plus an update on the camera man who will be on his way to the u.s. today. it's right here at 10:30 on nbc 10. happening today, controversy over a college speech. the convicted cop killer abu jamal will deliver the address. at the same time, philadelphia police will hold a silent protest at the site of officer daniel faulkner's murder. a recorded speech will be played today for 20 students at goddard college in vermont. abu jamal received a bachelor's degree from that school in 1996 while behind bars. abu jamal is serving life in prison for killing officer faulkner in center city in 1981. nbc 10 spoke with faulkner's widow. she says the graduate's could have chosen anyone to give them inspiration and they made the wrong choice. >> sometime in the future of their life, they are going to come across either a loved one or maybe a friend that will lose their life brutally, and when they do, they can think of me. >> goddard college says it does not condone the violence of which abu jamal was convicted. it does encourage students to take on controversial subjects. tonight, family, friends, and members of law enforcement will remember a pennsylvania state trooper who was killed at a montgomery county shooting range. a life celebration for david kendra will be held at 6:00 this evening at givnish funeral home in northeast florida. a funeral mass for the trooper will be held tomorrow morning at 11:00 at christ the king church at morrow avenue and chesterfield road, also in northeast philadelphia. officials say kendra was accidentally shot by another trooper on tuesday. they say it happened during a training exercise. kendra was 26 years old. he had been a member of the state police since june of 2012. he was a graduate of temple university and was engaged to be married. it is now day 23 in the search for suspected trooper killer eric frein, and new details are emerging about text messages he was sending the day of the attack. the "times tribune" of scranton reports a friend received a text from frein less than five hours before he alelegedly opened fir on september 12th, saying "all is good." frein also said he was heading back to delaware. according to police, he lied to relatives and others about working in delaware so he could prepare for the ambush. one trooper was killed and a second was wounded in that attack. in the city of chester, the family of a men killed in a fire bombing wants answers, especially since he was targeted twice before. anthony gorman died yesterday morning in his home on baldwin street in chester. there was a fire there. fire investigators are calling it suspicious. officials told nbc 10 gorman's home was fire bombed twice in the past. police told us they're investigating the fire bombing as a possible retaliation involving an outlaw motorcycle gang. gorman's family told us he was a member of a motorcycle club, but has been disabled since an accident in 2009. the head of the cooper health system and his wife will be remembered this week. the couple died under mysterious circumstances in their home in new jersey. a memorial service for john and joyce sheridan will start at 11:00 on tuesday morning in the patriot tlooe patriots theatre. the consumer was found in a burning bedroom of their home in somerset county. investigators say the fire was deliberately set but there's still no cause of death for either of them. happening today, the eagles will try to regain their winning form when they host the st. louis playground in the town of watertown. this is the last of 26 playgrounds dedicated to the victims of that mass shooting. a pennsylvania judge is refusing to throw out a lawsuit involving the $60 million fine against penn state university in the jerry sandusky case. penn state accepted the penalty as part of a deal with the ncaa. state treasurer rob mccord and a state senator sued to have the take a look at millville. temperatures are 30 degrees cooler right now than this time yesterday. we're 24 degrees cooler in allentown. 23 in the poconos. 25 in philadelphia. so if you remember, we saw a mild start to the morning yesterday with rain coming through. and now the cold air has taken over. not just for philadelphia, but this stretches all the way back to parts of chicago, minneapolis, and as far down as the carolinas in nashville. nashville temperatures starting off at 38 degrees. so here is the cool air. it is in place. it will continue to retreat to the north as we head into the rest of today. we'll see high pressure building in from the southeast, and that's going to give us mild conditions as you head back to work tomorrow. so not to worry, your temperatures are going to recover. even as we head into the afternoon, we will push into the 60s, but as you can see, that is ten degrees, more than ten degrees below our average, which is 72 for this time of year. we warm back to average heading into monday, and our satellite radar shot still shows that rotation of that area of low pressure that brought us the rainfall, so no rain in store for us. we are going to see plenty of sunshine. you're already starting to notice some of the clouds clearing up. if you plan on heading out to the eagles game today, it is going to be cold, especially for tailgating before the mattresses have already been removed from the apartment where duncan was staying. eventually all items will be taken out and destroyed. dozens of penn state students are being monitored for the ebola virus. university officials told nbc affiliate wjac in johnstown that 80 students traveled to areas near the outbreak and are now spread out all across penn state campuses. experts say the likelihood that these students have the virus, though, is very slim. a massachusetts doctor who was successfully treated for ebola after returning from west africa is now back in the hospital. doctors say it appears he has a respiratory infection and they do not believe it is a recurrence of the virus. he was released from the hospital about a week and a half ago. he will remain in isolation until doctors have confirmed he is not infected with ebola. ebola has been ruled out as the cause of illness for a man who got sick on a flight to new jersey. this is a photo taken onboard the plane. the man began throwing up during the flight from brussels to newark. health officials say he had traveled to west africa, but he showed no evidence of ebola. new from overnight, philadelphia police are investigating a triple shooting in cobb's creek. we're told three people were wounded outside cousin danny's exotic haven. the victims were taken to the hospital at the university of pennsylvania. all three are in critical condition. philadelphia police are also investigating a double shooting in feltonville. two men were shot just after midnight. both of them are in the hospital. they are in stable condition. police tell nbc 10 they found a gun at the scene that was registered to one of the victims. so far, no arrests. happening today, convicted philadelphia cop killer mumia abu-jamal traveled from north jersey to monroe county for the first day of archery deer season. he was nervous to go into the woods. >> they're looking for somebody in camo. we're wearing camo because it's hunting season. that's a scary thing to be mistaken. and everybody's looking at you and everybody's on edge. and rightfully so. >> monroe and pike counties have been on high alert for weeks as the hunt for frein continues. 6:34. we continue to follow breaking news in dover. a big barn fire there and some firefighters were involved in an accident while responding to that blaze. nbc 10's matt delucia is live at the scene. matt, what are you finding out there? >> reporter: well, ted, this is still an active fire scene. we moved back about 100 feet since our last live shot. you can see the reason why. because they're trying to remove one of the fire trucks, one of the engines out here that had an accident while responding to this fire. right now, just to give you a point, if you were on east dennys road, this is about ten minutes north of downtown dover and the firefighters that you see out there, they're part of the fire department, a volunteer fire department, only two engines as part of its apparatus. you can see those firefighters out there with the reflective coats as they're trying to get that truck on to a tow truck to be moved out of here. just to give you an idea of what happened out here, we saw some tire tracks leading up to where that truck is, and i'll just walk down here briefly. you can see how far down this went. this is about three feet down off the road. so a pretty big embankment that this truck fell into early this morning. this happened about 4:30. real quickly, though, this is largely farmland. out there that is what they were responding to. that is a large barn that was on fire early this morning. we have seen the smoke dissipate quite rapidly in the past 15 to 20 minutes. when we rolled up about 20 minutes ago, there was a large amount of white smoke still rising from that barn, but now we can see that the fire departments out there have been putting water on there and now that smoke has pretty much dissipated. in fact, we've seen some fire department activity from the neighboring volunteer fire departments. we've seen some of them leaving the scene. so right now, a lot of the attention is focused on getting those hot spots out and also trying to get this truck out here, this engine from the lipsick volunteer fire department out of this embankment and right now that is proving to be a pretty difficult task because they've been out here for the better part of two hours. we're going to try to gather more information. no injuries reported as of right now. we'll stay on top of this. in delaware county, the family of a man an outlaw motorcycle gang. gorman's family told us he was a member of a motorcycle club but has been disabled since an accident in 2009. philadelphia police are searching for a gunman who shot a man. police say the 24-year-old victim was shot several times and is now in stable condition. the call for an end to the violence in north philadelphia. city leaders, religious groups and community members held this peace walk yesterday near the playground where a teen was shot and killed over the summer. the organizers say it will bring healing, hope, and health to the area. up next this morning, a weekend, but what happened after a friday night game one year ago changed some players' lives forever. an exchange of words on the street led to a promising player wondering if he'd ever play football again. nbc 10's jillian mealy has his story. >> reporter: 6'4", 320-pound offensive lineman rayquan thomas is a standout on his football team. a junior and captain, he has already been contacted by several colleges. >> he's a big-time football player, but he's going to be successful. >> reporter: his success hasn't come easy, though. he had to learn a new school and a new team after transferring to simon gratz before his sophomore year. >> like blocking, you don't know exactly when to leave a block or when to stay. so once you build that chemistry, it's good. >> it only took a few games to build that chemistry, and on october 4th of 2013, it all clicked on the football field. >> my brother told me all the time that, like, that was one of our best games. >> it was fun. we've dominated up how far-reaching this cold air is, but it is going to push to the north as we head into really the rest of today, so that cold air will retreat. we'll see high pressure rebuild from the southeast. that's going to give us mild conditions as you head back to work tomorrow. our satellite radar shot shows the rotation cell of that area of low pressure that brought us the rainfall. the rain is far off to the northeast, and we are going to see clearing skies, plenty of sunshine for today. it's just going to be on the cold side. we are also going to see by 11:00 a.m. temperatures still in the mid 50s. so it's going to be slow. it will warm up. slow to push to 60 degrees. 50 degrees in allentown by 11:00 a.m. by 3:00 p.m., here we start to get to our highs. only 57 in allentown. we're only going to make it into the low 50s for the poconos and the high 50s closer to the shore. as we head into this evening, right back down into the 50s. so it's pretty much going to be a cold day. temperatures staying mainly in the 50s throughout today before pushing into the low 60s, heading into your afternoon and early evening hours. if you're heading out to the links today, make sure you bring your jacket. maybe even a scarf or a bene because we are going to see p t -- temperatures by 1:00 p.m. at 60 degrees. plenty of sunshine, just on the chilly side. we'll range between 59 and 61. nbc 10 news today, breaking news out of kent county where firefighters are working to put out a barn fire in an accident involving a fire truck heading to that blaze. matt delucia arrived on the scene in the last 30 minutes. matt is live there now. what have you been able to find out? >> reporter: a lot of activity within the past 30 minutes. we've seen that fire truck be removed from the scene. that happened just about two or three minutes ago before we went on the air. we'll show you what the scene looks like right now. this is very different than it was about 30 to 45 minutes ago when you saw all these fire crews out here trying to remove an engine from a volunteer fire department, the fire department that had pretty much rolled down this embankment here. it's about three feet off the road here. this is east dennys road. just to give you some perspective if you're not from this area, this is about ten minutes north of downtown dover. and you see right there that embankment. that is where that truck ended up earlier this morning about 4:30, so there was a lot of activity trying to remove that truck from this area. we'll just show you every here, about a quarter of a mile down the road, this is what they were responding to. this is a barn fire that happened early this morning. in fact, we do have some video from a little bit earlier showing you what this whole scene looked like
