today skyforce 10 was in delaware county over havertown where two workers were shocked by power lines, one of them was killed. nbc 10's deanna durante has been on the ground gathering new information since we first brought you this story live as breaking news this morning on nbc 10 news at 11:00. what have you found out since then? >> reporter: we do know those two men worked for a philadelphia-based roofing kpp. if you take a look behind me at the scene, peco crews are still here. we can see the ladder that those two men were using when trying to get on to the roof of this home. it's still on the ground here. crews from peco tell me they will be removing the rest of this, this as investigators are talking to a 24-year-old mp the only survivor of this construction accident. >> sitting on my front porch, i saw the policemen going down this way. >> at first susan callahan said she had no idea what was happening until she looked over to her neighbor's house. >> i saw the men in the street. >> reporter: they were in front of this hastings avenue home. they were setting up to begin work on the roof. the men were moving the metal ladder up against the house when they hit the power lines above. one man is dead, the other flown to the hospital, of the university of pennsylvania where he's in intensive care. power was cut to the neighborhood after the accident and peco says that crews spent the day restoring service to about 80 homes that have been in the dark. and, again, peco crews still on scene several hours after this construction accident. the lights are back on for those 80 customers. we can tell you that not only are haverford township police investigating this incident but also workers with osha have been here as well. reporting live in delaware county, deanna durante, nbc 10 news. and skyforce 10 was over the scene of a shooting that sent a 16-year-old boy to the hospital. it happened earlier on van pelt street in north philadelphia. so far, there are no arrests or motive for the shooting. teen is in stable condition. a woman badly burned when a gas pump caught fire late last night is in critical condition this afternoon. the drier of another car lost control, crashing into the pump at the sunoco station in the port richmond section of philadelphia. the woman was pumping gas when the crash happened. her baby was inside of her car at the time but was not hurt. nbc 10 went back to the scene at somerset and aramingo hours after the fire. we found several investigators getting a better look at the damage. a witness told nbc 10 that he heard the explosion from inside his house. >> i look out my door and i see the pump on fire, everybody screaming. she was yelling, my kid, help me, i'm on fire, this and that. >> the person driving the car was not seriously hurt. it's not clear at this point what caused him to lose control but police say he will not be charged. >> today a judge threw out nearly five dozen cases handled by that officer. a total of 59 cases were dismissed today involving former narcotics officer jeffrey walker. 43 cases were upheld. prosecutors say a total of 160 involving walker have been dismissed since he was indicted back in may of 2013. walker pleaded guilty in february to stealing $15,000 from a drug dealer. the plot involved planting drugs in the dealer's car. walker has been cooperating in a broader investigation to the drug trafficking unit. six officers were charged in july with robbing, beating and kidnapping drug suspects. prosecutors in philadelphia plan to charge this 15-year-old boy as an adult for his alleged role in the shooting death of a teenage girl. gibson is the second suspect arrested for the death of aisha abdurahim. the 15-year-old girl died at the scene which was outside of einstein medical center. a 19-year-old boy was also critically injured in the shooting which happened on monday. person surrendered to police earlier this week. we have reached the two-week mark in the mountain manhunt for the fugitive wanted for gunning down two pennsylvania state troopers in the poconos. 14 days, the search continues now for eric frein. it was two weeks ago tonight when the troopers were shot during a shift change outside their barracks. one of them died. the other is recovering. >> today the search for frein took investigators to an old abandoned hotel. nbc 10's randy gyllenhall is live with investigators in blooming grove township. >> police just gave an update in the last hours. what are they telling you about the search efforts? >> reporter: police are telling us eric frein did internet searches ahead of this manhunt, learning how to evade police tactics. they say it's clear he's been planning this for years and that they firmly believe he's out here somewhere deep in the woods of the poconos. this morning, federal agents and localç cops zeroed into an abandoned hotel, an intense ground search took place in barrett township, that's deep in the pocono mountains. police thought eric frein could be hiding inside the shuttered buck hill inn. some locals think it's haunted. armed agents and okcanine units searched this hotel. >> we mentioned before places we think he may be using for shelter, specifically caves. all of these potential hiding places need to be cleared as well. we do know he had an interest in that location. yes, i do believe he has spent some time there and so the information that we generated caused us to believe it was worthwhile to conduct a search at that location. >> reporter: additionally, state police are on rumor patrol today, batting down press reports that the injured trooper and eric frein's wife had some sort of relationship. they also say that eric frein's family is developing story. it led to flight cancellations for travelers across the country today. a fire at an air traffic control facility near chicago grounded flights at both of the city's major airports, we're talking o'hare and midway. investigators say the fire was intentionally set by a contract employee of the faa. they don't believe there are any ties to terrorism. >> the scene is being work as any investigation would, trying to gather all the evidence, interview all the people, collect all the information so we know what's going on. >> police on the arson suspect in the basement of the faa facility. they say he stabbed himself several times and was taken to the hospital but his injuries are not life threatening. let's take a live look at philadelphia international airport. airport officials tweeted earlier today for passengers to expect delays because of that fire. and check the status of their flight with their airline. more than 850 flights in and out of the windy city were canceled. >> now to the latest on the fight against isis. take a look, this amateur video posted online allegedly shows an air strike in eastern syria today. you can see an aircraft flying over the city. plumes of dark smoke were rising in the distance. the u.s. military says there were three air strikes in that part of syria but the authenticity of the video has not been confirmed. now, this video released by the u.s. military shows strikes on two isis targets today. the fighter jets targeting a refinery controlled by the terrorists in eastern syria. the u.s. hit two other oil refineries to stop isis from making $1 million to $3.1 million a day selling oil and gas on the black market. here in the u.s., some congress questioned why lawmakers are not at work during this critical time. >> jennifer johnson has the story from washington. >> reporter: keith and rosemary, congress is off until after the nowumber elections. some are wondering if that gives the president too much freedom when it comes to the war against isis. for a second day, u.s. warplanes bombed oil installations in eastern syria, those controlled by isis militants and used to fund their war of terror. secretary chuck hagel says the u.s. will not let up. >> this will not be an easy or brief effort. we are at the beginning, not the end. >> reporter: again, military officials won't commit to u.s. combat troops on the ground but will provide support for other countries soldiers. >> there's no air power alone solution to isil, either in iraq or syria. the answer is, yes, there has to be a ground component to the campaign against isil in syria and we believe that the path to develop that is the syrian moderate opposition. >> reporter: as the u.s.-led coalition grows, denmark and belgium are the latest to sign on. british politicians finally decided to commit their own warplanes for strikes in iraq. >> this is about psychopathic terrorists that are trying to kill us and we do have to realize whether we like it or not, they have already declared war on us. >> reporter: action in london as congress is away. lawmakers are off until after the november elections, unable to vote on further military action. >> many of us are demanding we go back into session. in fact, many of us opposed going out of session for the elections at a time when another war is beginning. >> reporter: security is tighter at new york's penn station. one day after iraq's new prime minister suggested that capital tured isis soldiers said the group planned to attack somewhere in the u.s., a claim u.s. intelligence has not confirmed. again today, the white house said the iraqi prime minister was not referring to any specific threat against an american target. in washington, jennifer johnson, nbc 10 news. here closer to home, leaders want people to take all potential terrorism threats seriously. that was the message from pennsylvania senator bob casey who was in delaware county earlier today. >> we have credible information that the threat is in operation or that at the point of carrying it out. we have to act in a very determined fashion to stop it but also to try to stop it even when it's inç the wrong place at the wrong time. today was the second day of testimony in the double murder trial. police say raghunandan yandamuri confessed to the crime but the defendant alleges that two men forced him to lead them to the victim's apartment. yandamuri is charged with kidnapping the baby and killing the grandmother at the family's king of prussia apartment. the baby was later found dead. yandamuri is acting as his own attorney in the trial. now to news from trenton where a sand witch shop owner has been sentenced to six years in federal prison for his role in a drug dealing network and bribery scheme that brought down former mayor tony mack. joseph "jo-jo" georgeni did not testify earlier this year on extortion own brabry char bribe. but his voice could be heard during recordings played during the trial. both mack brothers have been sentenced to federal prison. a change of plans after a small fire on board a vessel this morning. skyforce 10 flaw over the mv delaware. no passengers were on board at the time and no one was hurt. from our delaware bureau, this man is under arrest, police say john grimes is an arsonist who started fires in two homes in one case, the people were in their bedroom. investigators say grimes was captured on numerous surveillance camera systems in the city of newark. he's charged with two counts each of arson, burglary and reckless endangerment. good news for septa riders. the transit authority is getting an $86 million grant to boost its ability to çwithstand bad weather. the aid is from the federal transit administration emergency relief program. officials say hurricane sandy showed how important it is to shore up the system, especially at this station in sharon hill, delaware county when one line is affected it can have a domino effect. >> transportation is a life blood of our region's economy. then this track here represents one of its arteries. and when this gets flooded, down on the bottom and time if you're headed in that direction. atlantic city has a new campaign to attract tourists in the midst of the casino crisis. toll-free tuesdays begin next month. the toll-free trips are one way of showcasing atlantic city for midweek getaways. here's a close look at the ac expressway by the numbers. it's 47 miles long with two toll plazas. there were five toll entrances and exits and two service plazas along the route. staying in atlantic city, despite the recent rash of casino closings, something new will be going up in ac, a 250 apartment complex will be built on a plot of land between revel boulevard and new jersey avenue, near the now closed revel casino hotel. the project will cost about $60 million. work will begin by the end of the year and take about 14 months to complete. the auction of revel casino will resume next tuesday. florida developer glenn straub is offering $90 million but his lawyer says that revel wouldn't reveal how many other bids were being considered, who made them or for how much. he calls the process tainted and is accusing revel's attorney of conducting closed-door deals. revel is not commenting about the matter. today, a 4-year-old boy is dead. >> and health experts do not know why. that's our top story on nbc 10 news at 4:00. health officials believe the boy died of a respiratory illness. they're conducting tests right now to bridgeton. >> you've been looking into what motivated those crimes. what did you find çout. >> reporter: keith and rosemary, police tell me this organization was not afraid to use violence that targeted competitors or its own. >> i just thought -- >> reporter: investigators believe a porosirostitution tur prompted a deadly stabbing across the street from the bridgeton tire shop where raymond rodriguez works. >> it's like a movie. >> reporter: today police revealed these four men from central and north jersey are among five charged in connection with a pair of homicides in bridgeton last month. among them, 36-year-old juan fredi hernandez josiah. >> the homicides were arranged and ordered by mr. hernandez and the other four individuals charged carried out those orders. >> reporter: could you tell what was going on? >> ray charles could tell you what was going on. >> reporter: nbc 10 first told you last week how this bridgeton home previously served as one of the brothels. today we learned one of the murdered men likely ran the operation here and was probably killed because of a business problem. police believe the other victim worked at a different brothel in the city. >> that was probably a competitor. >> no one wants crime in their neighborhood. no one wants crime in their city but we have to do the best we can to eradicate the crime. >> reporter: four other murders, including cases in mercer and middlesex counties may also be linked and they are being investigated as well. >> definitely seems to be an organized criminal enterprise that was being run and the majority of organized criminal enterprises go hand in hand with extreme violence. >> reporter: now, the suspects were all charged over the course of the past week. they're now in jail in cumberland, middlesex and essex counties. we are live in bridgeton, ted greenberg, nbc 10 news. here's a check of some of the stories that are making headlines on nbc 10 news at 4:00. respiratory illness is suspected in the death of a preschool student in mercer county, new jersey.ç the 4-year-old child attended yardville elementary school in hamilton township. health officials are trying to determine if the boy died of the flu or if the enterovirus is to blame. children in pennsylvania, new jersey and several other states have been hit by the illness. a roofer is dead today and another seriously hurt after an electrical shock. it happened along hastings avenue in havertown, delaware coun county. the two men were moving a metal ladder. one man in his 50s was killed. the other victim who was 24 years old is in intensive care. it's been two weeks of tips, leads and sightings but still no arrest as suspected trooper killer eric frein. this afternoon, state police said frein researched online how to avoid police manhunts. investigators focused their search on an abandoned hotel. they believe frein had an interest in hiding out at the location. new jersey is cracking down on illegal dumb pers and has leveed hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines. the department of environmental protection is going after people trashing state parks or recreational lands. it's already taken action against 20 people resulting in $480,000 in fines. it's all part of the new don't waste our open state initiative and includes charges for the first illegal dumping act caught on hidden camera. all reported earller this month. police have charged a man in the murder of a cab driver in delaware. joshua dutton is already behind bars for violating his probation. police say he strangled william toomey inside of his cab. investigators tell nbc 10 that dutton drove the car all over sussex county before leaving it abandoned in millsboro. he's now facing a murder charge. we have new video of the teen accused of stabbing dozens of classmates at his pennsylvania high school. in court today, a judge agreed to move alex to a hospital. he stabbed 20 students and a security guard with kitchen knives at franklin regional high school. his lawyer says his clean is the mentally ill. saddam hussein's legacy lives on. its reach stretches to our area. we'll explain why. and also the clock is away in the stolen vehicle. it happened outside the marriott in downtown miami. the surveillance video shows patrons trying to get him out of the car but he hit the car and then four people. they were treated for their injuries. the car was later recovered and albert luis was arrest eed wednesday night. a truck driver died in an accident. the freeway was closed in both directions for the morning rush. no one was on the bridge when it came down. the driver has not been identified yet but officials say he worked for a waste hauling business. let's take you now to a story out of oklahoma. we want to warn you, you may find it disturbing. >> a man allegedly beheaded after woman after he was fired from his job. it happened yesterday afternoon at a food distribution warehouse in moore. police say alton nolen severed the head of colleen çhuford. he also allegedly tried to kill a second woman as well. that's when an off-duty sheriff's deputy who also works at the plant stepped in. >> the chief operating officer of vaughn foods and is also an oklahoma county reserve deputy confront eed nolen and at that time shot him. >> nolen and his second alleged victim are in the hospital. the fbi is investigating. a montana teacher who spent a month in prison for raping a 14-year-old student goes back to court for resentencing. they're asking for two years in prison and another two years suspended. the case got international attention after the original sentencing judge placed some of the blame on the young victim. she committed suicide. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with into the mid-70s. now to health news, a new report from the centers for disease control reveals that nearly 2 million young women in the united states have chlamydia. tests of more than 8,000 women found nearly 5% of those who are sexually active are infected with the std. rates were higher for african-americans, topping 13%. chlamydia can cause infertility and pelvic pain but it's easily treated with antibiotics. saddam hussein's name surfaces in our area. a local town puts its foot down, telling residents what they're not allowed to do in their own yards anymore. all new tonight on "nbc nightly news" with brian williams will broadcast live from on board the "uss new jersey" as part of the ongoing progress in the city of camden. that's tonight at 6:30 right after nbc 10 news at 6:00. this is nbc 10 news. two students at rowan university in glassboro are suspended while the school investigates a sex tape that was posted online. the video made by one of the male students showed the other man having consensual sex with a female student at a rental house off-campus. the university reserves the right to file administrative charges epr' the two students. union nurses at a delaware county hospital are back on the job today. the nurses at crozer-chester medical center went on strike on sunday morning. it ended on tuesday but the hospital brought in temporary nurses who were guaranteed five days of work. the union and hospital management are working to come to an disagreement over pay, pensions and staff levels. two men are accused of trying to sell firearms believed to have been owned by the family of the late iraqi president saddam hussein. one of them is from new jersey. the two men were indicted in federal court in north jersey. they were among four men originally charged in 2011. the pair is charged with conspireing to sell seven guns believed to have been stolen or smuggled out of the iraq. a bamboo ban is in effect in one jersey shore town. council voted unanimously to keep residents from planting bamboo in their yards. the new ordinance also requires property owners with existing bamboo to pay to get rid of it if it spreads to a neighbor's yard. the plant grows easily and is difficult to remove. it can cause damage to buildings and to landscapes. next all new tonight on nbc 10 news at 5:00, subway safety. >> a delaware company actually has built a fake subway tunnel and the experiments they're doing in here could save lives during a terrorist attack. that story coming up. an a beautiful end to the first week of fall. now the first weekend of fall will feel more like summer. i'll show you how warm it'll get, coming up. and preschool tragedy. respiratory illness kills a 4-year-old mercer county student. what officials are telling parents, next on nbc 10 news at 5:00. nbc 10 news starts now. tragedy on the job for workers in delaware county. an electrical accident kills one man and injures another. the men were roofers working at a house in haverford township. >> the accident happened this morning. we sent deanna durante as soon as we heard about it. she's live in the neighborhood tonight. what have you found out, deanna. >> reporter: you can see the ladder on the lawn ever the home at the corner ever wint on and hastings avenues here. they have been able to speak to the surviving victim, that he is at the hospital of the university of pennsylvania. he's alert and being able to shed light on what happened here. >> got rest his soul. i hope everything is okay. >> reporter: bob strickland said it wasn't until the lights went out he knew something was wrong. >> i was kind of shocked to see him lying on the ground. i thought everyone would be crowding around. >> the homeowner was home at the time, the two subjects on the ground were roofers that were doing work at that residence. >> reporter: the men were moving the ladder according to police and putting it into place when it came into contact with power lines. a worker in his 50s was killed, a 24-year-old man remains in intensive care tonight. the men work for a philadelphia-based roofer and crews arrived on scene after the accident but didn't want to talk publicly. peco says it cut power to about 80 customers as a precaution and spent the day checking lines and restoring service. we can tell you the electricity in the neighborhood was turned back on about an hour ago. peco tells us the accident didn't cause the power outage. instead it was turned off as a precaution while emergency responders were here and investigators tried to figure out what happened. that 23-year-old man, he is hospitalized but investigators say he is talking and alert. that is the latest, reporting live in haverford township, deanna durante, nbc 10 news.ç new at 5:00, a major drug ring in the city of chester has been crippled today after federal agents say they arrested more than 30 people involved in the lucrative scheme.

today skyforce 10 was in delaware county over havertown where two workers were shocked by power lines, one of them was killed. nbc 10's deanna durante has been on the ground gathering new information since we first brought you this story live as breaking news this morning on nbc 10 news at 11:00. what have you found out since then? >> reporter: we do know those two men worked for a philadelphia-based roofing kpp. if you take a look behind me at the scene, peco crews are still here. we can see the ladder that those two men were using when trying to get on to the roof of this home. it's still on the ground here. crews from peco tell me they will be removing the rest of this, this as investigators are talking to a 24-year-old mp the only survivor of this construction accident. >> sitting on my front porch, i saw the policemen going down this way. >> at first susan callahan said she had no idea what was happening until she looked over to her neighbor's house. >> i saw the men in the street. >> reporter: they were in front of this hastings avenue home. they were setting up to begin work on the roof. the men were moving the metal ladder up against the house when they hit the power lines above. one man is dead, the other flown to the hospital, of the university of pennsylvania where he's in intensive care. power was cut to the neighborhood after the accident and peco says that crews spent the day restoring service to about 80 homes that have been in the dark. and, again, peco crews still on scene several hours after this construction accident. the lights are back on for those 80 customers. we can tell you that not only are haverford township police investigating this incident but also workers with osha have been here as well. reporting live in delaware county, deanna durante, nbc 10 news. and skyforce 10 was over the scene of a shooting that sent a 16-year-old boy to the hospital. it happened earlier on van pelt street in north philadelphia. so far, there are no arrests or motive for the shooting. teen is in stable condition. a woman badly burned when a gas pump caught fire late last night is in critical condition this afternoon. the drier of another car lost control, crashing into the pump at the sunoco station in the port richmond section of philadelphia. the woman was pumping gas when the crash happened. her baby was inside of her car at the time but was not hurt. nbc 10 went back to the scene at somerset and aramingo hours after the fire. we found several investigators getting a better look at the damage. a witness told nbc 10 that he heard the explosion from inside his house. >> i look out my door and i see the pump on fire, everybody screaming. she was yelling, my kid, help me, i'm on fire, this and that. >> the person driving the car was not seriously hurt. it's not clear at this point what caused him to lose control but police say he will not be charged. >> today a judge threw out nearly five dozen cases handled by that officer. a total of 59 cases were dismissed today involving former narcotics officer jeffrey walker. 43 cases were upheld. prosecutors say a total of 160 involving walker have been dismissed since he was indicted back in may of 2013. walker pleaded guilty in february to stealing $15,000 from a drug dealer. the plot involved planting drugs in the dealer's car. walker has been cooperating in a broader investigation to the drug trafficking unit. six officers were charged in july with robbing, beating and kidnapping drug suspects. prosecutors in philadelphia plan to charge this 15-year-old boy as an adult for his alleged role in the shooting death of a teenage girl. gibson is the second suspect arrested for the death of aisha abdurahim. the 15-year-old girl died at the scene which was outside of einstein medical center. a 19-year-old boy was also critically injured in the shooting which happened on monday. person surrendered to police earlier this week. we have reached the two-week mark in the mountain manhunt for the fugitive wanted for gunning down two pennsylvania state troopers in the poconos. 14 days, the search continues now for eric frein. it was two weeks ago tonight when the troopers were shot during a shift change outside their barracks. one of them died. the other is recovering. >> today the search for frein took investigators to an old abandoned hotel. nbc 10's randy gyllenhall is live with investigators in blooming grove township. >> police just gave an update in the last hours. what are they telling you about the search efforts? >> reporter: police are telling us eric frein did internet searches ahead of this manhunt, learning how to evade police tactics. they say it's clear he's been planning this for years and that they firmly believe he's out here somewhere deep in the woods of the poconos. this morning, federal agents and localç cops zeroed into an abandoned hotel, an intense ground search took place in barrett township, that's deep in the pocono mountains. police thought eric frein could be hiding inside the shuttered buck hill inn. some locals think it's haunted. armed agents and okcanine units searched this hotel. >> we mentioned before places we think he may be using for shelter, specifically caves. all of these potential hiding places need to be cleared as well. we do know he had an interest in that location. yes, i do believe he has spent some time there and so the information that we generated caused us to believe it was worthwhile to conduct a search at that location. >> reporter: additionally, state police are on rumor patrol today, batting down press reports that the injured trooper and eric frein's wife had some sort of relationship. they also say that eric frein's family is developing story. it led to flight cancellations for travelers across the country today. a fire at an air traffic control facility near chicago grounded flights at both of the city's major airports, we're talking o'hare and midway. investigators say the fire was intentionally set by a contract employee of the faa. they don't believe there are any ties to terrorism. >> the scene is being work as any investigation would, trying to gather all the evidence, interview all the people, collect all the information so we know what's going on. >> police on the arson suspect in the basement of the faa facility. they say he stabbed himself several times and was taken to the hospital but his injuries are not life threatening. let's take a live look at philadelphia international airport. airport officials tweeted earlier today for passengers to expect delays because of that fire. and check the status of their flight with their airline. more than 850 flights in and out of the windy city were canceled. >> now to the latest on the fight against isis. take a look, this amateur video posted online allegedly shows an air strike in eastern syria today. you can see an aircraft flying over the city. plumes of dark smoke were rising in the distance. the u.s. military says there were three air strikes in that part of syria but the authenticity of the video has not been confirmed. now, this video released by the u.s. military shows strikes on two isis targets today. the fighter jets targeting a refinery controlled by the terrorists in eastern syria. the u.s. hit two other oil refineries to stop isis from making $1 million to $3.1 million a day selling oil and gas on the black market. here in the u.s., some congress questioned why lawmakers are not at work during this critical time. >> jennifer johnson has the story from washington. >> reporter: keith and rosemary, congress is off until after the nowumber elections. some are wondering if that gives the president too much freedom when it comes to the war against isis. for a second day, u.s. warplanes bombed oil installations in eastern syria, those controlled by isis militants and used to fund their war of terror. secretary chuck hagel says the u.s. will not let up. >> this will not be an easy or brief effort. we are at the beginning, not the end. >> reporter: again, military officials won't commit to u.s. combat troops on the ground but will provide support for other countries soldiers. >> there's no air power alone solution to isil, either in iraq or syria. the answer is, yes, there has to be a ground component to the campaign against isil in syria and we believe that the path to develop that is the syrian moderate opposition. >> reporter: as the u.s.-led coalition grows, denmark and belgium are the latest to sign on. british politicians finally decided to commit their own warplanes for strikes in iraq. >> this is about psychopathic terrorists that are trying to kill us and we do have to realize whether we like it or not, they have already declared war on us. >> reporter: action in london as congress is away. lawmakers are off until after the november elections, unable to vote on further military action. >> many of us are demanding we go back into session. in fact, many of us opposed going out of session for the elections at a time when another war is beginning. >> reporter: security is tighter at new york's penn station. one day after iraq's new prime minister suggested that capital tured isis soldiers said the group planned to attack somewhere in the u.s., a claim u.s. intelligence has not confirmed. again today, the white house said the iraqi prime minister was not referring to any specific threat against an american target. in washington, jennifer johnson, nbc 10 news. here closer to home, leaders want people to take all potential terrorism threats seriously. that was the message from pennsylvania senator bob casey who was in delaware county earlier today. >> we have credible information that the threat is in operation or that at the point of carrying it out. we have to act in a very determined fashion to stop it but also to try to stop it even when it's inç the wrong place at the wrong time. today was the second day of testimony in the double murder trial. police say raghunandan yandamuri confessed to the crime but the defendant alleges that two men forced him to lead them to the victim's apartment. yandamuri is charged with kidnapping the baby and killing the grandmother at the family's king of prussia apartment. the baby was later found dead. yandamuri is acting as his own attorney in the trial. now to news from trenton where a sand witch shop owner has been sentenced to six years in federal prison for his role in a drug dealing network and bribery scheme that brought down former mayor tony mack. joseph "jo-jo" georgeni did not testify earlier this year on extortion own brabry char bribe. but his voice could be heard during recordings played during the trial. both mack brothers have been sentenced to federal prison. a change of plans after a small fire on board a vessel this morning. skyforce 10 flaw over the mv delaware. no passengers were on board at the time and no one was hurt. from our delaware bureau, this man is under arrest, police say john grimes is an arsonist who started fires in two homes in one case, the people were in their bedroom. investigators say grimes was captured on numerous surveillance camera systems in the city of newark. he's charged with two counts each of arson, burglary and reckless endangerment. good news for septa riders. the transit authority is getting an $86 million grant to boost its ability to çwithstand bad weather. the aid is from the federal transit administration emergency relief program. officials say hurricane sandy showed how important it is to shore up the system, especially at this station in sharon hill, delaware county when one line is affected it can have a domino effect. >> transportation is a life blood of our region's economy. then this track here represents one of its arteries. and when this gets flooded, down on the bottom and shuts the sti system down, patiethe patient g sick. this will create a cure. >> it's estimated 1 million people rely on septa system every day. if you drive a ford you may want to listen to this next one. the automaker is recalling 850,000 vehicles over short circuit concerns. the potential problem could prevent the air bags from working during a crash. it could also affect the car's stability update to its operating system will fix the frustration for some iphone users. a bug caused by ios 8 led to no cell phone service for thousands of people with the new iphone 6 and 6 plus. the touch time if you're headed in that direction. atlantic city has a new campaign to attract tourists in the midst of the casino crisis. toll-free tuesdays begin next month. the toll-free trips are one way of showcasing atlantic city for midweek getaways. here's a close look at the ac expressway by the numbers. it's 47 miles long with two toll plazas. there were five toll entrances and exits and two service plazas along the route. staying in atlantic city, despite the recent rash of casino closings, something new will be going up in ac, a 250 apartment complex will be built on a plot of land between revel boulevard and new jersey avenue, near the now closed revel casino hotel. the project will cost about $60 million. work will begin by the end of the year and take about 14 months to complete. the auction of revel casino will resume next tuesday. florida developer glenn straub is offering $90 million but his lawyer says that revel wouldn't reveal how many other bids were being considered, who made them or for how much. he calls the process tainted and is accusing revel's attorney of conducting closed-door deals. revel is not commenting about the matter. today, a 4-year-old boy is dead. >> and health experts do not know why. that's our top story on nbc 10 news at 4:00. health officials believe the boy died of a respiratory illness. they're conducting tests right now to prostitution and deadly crimes now linked to it. as we first reported last week, federal authorities busted broth ls els. >> nbc 10 jersey shore bureau reporter ted greenberg is live this afternoon in bridgeton. >> you've been looking into what motivated those crimes. what did you find çout. >> reporter: keith and rosemary, police tell me this organization was not afraid to use violence that targeted competitors or its own. >> i just thought -- >> reporter: investigators believe a porosirostitution tur prompted a deadly stabbing across the street from the bridgeton tire shop where raymond rodriguez works. >> it's like a movie. >> reporter: today police revealed these four men from central and north jersey are among five charged in connection with a pair of homicides in bridgeton last month. among them, 36-year-old juan fredi hernandez josiah. >> the homicides were arranged and ordered by mr. hernandez and the other four individuals charged carried out those orders. >> reporter: could you tell what was going on? >> ray charles could tell you what was going on. >> reporter: nbc 10 first told you last week how this bridgeton home previously served as one of the brothels. today we learned one of the murdered men likely ran the operation here and was probably killed because of a business problem. police believe the other victim worked at a different brothel in the city. >> that was probably a competitor. >> no one wants crime in their neighborhood. no one wants crime in their city but we have to do the best we can to eradicate the crime. >> reporter: four other murders, including cases in mercer and middlesex counties may also be linked and they are being investigated as well. >> definitely seems to be an organized criminal enterprise that was being run and the majority of organized criminal enterprises go hand in hand with extreme violence. >> reporter: now, the suspects were all charged over the course of the past week. they're now in jail in cumberland, middlesex and essex counties. we are live in bridgeton, ted greenberg, nbc 10 news. here's a check of some of the stories that are making headlines on nbc 10 news at 4:00. respiratory illness is suspected in the death of a preschool student in mercer county, new jersey.ç the 4-year-old child attended yardville elementary school in hamilton township. health officials are trying to determine if the boy died of the flu or if the enterovirus is to blame. children in pennsylvania, new jersey and several other states have been hit by the illness. a roofer is dead today and another seriously hurt after an electrical shock. it happened along hastings avenue in havertown, delaware coun county. the two men were moving a metal ladder. one man in his 50s was killed. the other victim who was 24 years old is in intensive care. it's been two weeks of tips, leads and sightings but still no arrest as suspected trooper killer eric frein. this afternoon, state police said frein researched online how to avoid police manhunts. investigators focused their search on an abandoned hotel. they believe frein had an interest in hiding out at the location. new jersey is cracking down on illegal dumb pers and has leveed hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines. the department of environmental protection is going after people trashing state parks or recreational lands. it's already taken action against 20 people resulting in $480,000 in fines. it's all part of the new don't waste our open state initiative and includes charges for the first illegal dumping act caught on hidden camera. all viewers voted for, roman catholic high school at episcopal academy. the showdown will happen on episcopal's turf. kickoff, the game is scheduled for 7:00. nbc 10 will be there to capture the the week. just in time, roman catholic high school at episcopal academy, 7:00 p.m. tonight. this is in newtown square. it will be a perfect night for some high school football. by 7:00 p.m., 73 degrees, clear skies, nice conditions. by 9:00 tonight, temperatures already in the upper 60s. so cool and also very nice for the end of the high school football game. for the rest of the area, it will feel like this across much of our viewing area. clear skies and warmer temperatures. i'll show you that forecast for the weekend, coming up. we have new information now on a story that we reported earller this month. police have charged a man in the murder of a cab driver in delaware. joshua dutton is already behind bars for violating his probation. police say he strangled william toomey inside of his cab. investigators tell nbc 10 that dutton drove the car all over sussex county before leaving it abandoned in millsboro. he's now facing a murder charge. we have new video of the teen accused of stabbing dozens of classmates at his pennsylvania high school. in court today, a judge agreed to move alex to a hospital. he stabbed 20 students and a security guard with kitchen knives at franklin regional high school. his lawyer says his clean is the mentally ill. saddam hussein's legacy lives on. its reach stretches to our area. we'll explain why. and also the clock is away in the stolen vehicle. it happened outside the marriott in downtown miami. the surveillance video shows patrons trying to get him out of the car but he hit the car and then four people. they were treated for their injuries. the car was later recovered and albert luis was arrest eed wednesday night. a truck driver died in an accident. the freeway was closed in both directions for the morning rush. no one was on the bridge when it came down. the driver has not been identified yet but officials say he worked for a waste hauling business. let's take you now to a story out of oklahoma. we want to warn you, you may find it disturbing. >> a man allegedly beheaded after woman after he was fired from his job. it happened yesterday afternoon at a food distribution warehouse in moore. police say alton nolen severed the head of colleen çhuford. he also allegedly tried to kill a second woman as well. that's when an off-duty sheriff's deputy who also works at the plant stepped in. >> the chief operating officer of vaughn foods and is also an oklahoma county reserve deputy confront eed nolen and at that time shot him. >> nolen and his second alleged victim are in the hospital. the fbi is investigating. a montana teacher who spent a month in prison for raping a 14-year-old student goes back to court for resentencing. they're asking for two years in prison and another two years suspended. the case got international attention after the original sentencing judge placed some of the blame on the young victim. she committed suicide. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with drizzle. now high pressure is moved in. this is keeping us nice and sunny. this, the area of high pressure will be in control both tomorrow and sunday. it will give us really pleasant conditions. much of the northeast at about the mid-70s. boston coming in still in the mid-60s. take a look at the air down to our south and west, though. we have 80 degree temperatures here. this will be moving up just in time for your weekend. this is the summertime warmup i mentioned. high temperatures tomorrow afternoon, 80 degrees for allentown, in reading, 81 for the high in quakertown. sunny skies, 81 for trenton and doylestown, norristown, 83 northeast philly tomorrow and mt. holly. closer to the shore, temperatures around 80 degrees tomorrow. plenty of sunshine. 82 vineland, 83 in dover and around philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs for tomorrow afternoon, highs will be topping out in just about the low 80s with plenty of dry air for both saturday and sunday. for tonight, though, we stay clear and cool, mid-50s philadelphia. mid to upper 40s areas north and west. tomorrow, 80 to 83 degrees. very nice start to your weekend. the average high 74 degrees. we'll be quite a bit above that both saturday and sunday. it will feel more like summer. sunday 83, very nice going into next week, though, more clouds start to move in for your monday. a chance of showers with temperatures dropping into the mid-70s. now to health news, a new report from the centers for disease control reveals that nearly 2 million young women in the united states have chlamydia. tests of more than 8,000 women found nearly 5% of those who are sexually active are infected with the std. rates were higher for african-americans, topping 13%. chlamydia can cause infertility and pelvic pain but it's easily treated with antibiotics. saddam hussein's name surfaces in our area. a local town puts its foot down, telling residents what they're not allowed to do in their own yards anymore. all new tonight on "nbc nightly news" with brian williams will broadcast live from on board the "uss new jersey" as part of the ongoing progress in the city of camden. that's tonight at 6:30 right after nbc 10 news at 6:00. this is nbc 10 news. two students at rowan university in glassboro are suspended while the school investigates a sex tape that was posted online. the video made by one of the male students showed the other man having consensual sex with a female student at a rental house off-campus. the university reserves the right to file administrative charges epr' the two students. union nurses at a delaware county hospital are back on the job today. the nurses at crozer-chester medical center went on strike on sunday morning. it ended on tuesday but the hospital brought in temporary nurses who were guaranteed five days of work. the union and hospital management are working to come to an disagreement over pay, pensions and staff levels. two men are accused of trying to sell firearms believed to have been owned by the family of the late iraqi president saddam hussein. one of them is from new jersey. the two men were indicted in federal court in north jersey. they were among four men originally charged in 2011. the pair is charged with conspireing to sell seven guns believed to have been stolen or smuggled out of the iraq. a bamboo ban is in effect in one jersey shore town. council voted unanimously to keep residents from planting bamboo in their yards. the new ordinance also requires property owners with existing bamboo to pay to get rid of it if it spreads to a neighbor's yard. the plant grows easily and is difficult to remove. it can cause damage to buildings and to landscapes. next all new tonight on nbc 10 news at 5:00, subway safety. >> a delaware company actually has built a fake subway tunnel and the experiments they're doing in here could save lives during a terrorist attack. that story coming up. an a beautiful end to the first week of fall. now the first weekend of fall will feel more like summer. i'll show you how warm it'll get, coming up. and preschool tragedy. respiratory illness kills a 4-year-old mercer county student. what officials are telling parents, next on nbc 10 news at 5:00. nbc 10 news starts now. tragedy on the job for workers in delaware county. an electrical accident kills one man and injures another. the men were roofers working at a house in haverford township. >> the accident happened this morning. we sent deanna durante as soon as we heard about it. she's live in the neighborhood tonight. what have you found out, deanna. >> reporter: you can see the ladder on the lawn ever the home at the corner ever wint on and hastings avenues here. they have been able to speak to the surviving victim, that he is at the hospital of the university of pennsylvania. he's alert and being able to shed light on what happened here. >> got rest his soul. i hope everything is okay. >> reporter: bob strickland said it wasn't until the lights went out he knew something was wrong. >> i was kind of shocked to see him lying on the ground. i thought everyone would be crowding around. >> the homeowner was home at the time, the two subjects on the ground were roofers that were doing work at that residence. >> reporter: the men were moving the ladder according to police and putting it into place when it came into contact with power lines. a worker in his 50s was killed, a 24-year-old man remains in intensive care tonight. the men work for a philadelphia-based roofer and crews arrived on scene after the accident but didn't want to talk publicly. peco says it cut power to about 80 customers as a precaution and spent the day checking lines and restoring service. we can tell you the electricity in the neighborhood was turned back on about an hour ago. peco tells us the accident didn't cause the power outage. instead it was turned off as a precaution while emergency responders were here and investigators tried to figure out what happened. that 23-year-old man, he is hospitalized but investigators say he is talking and alert. that is the latest, reporting live in haverford township, deanna durante, nbc 10 news.ç new at 5:00, a major drug ring in the city of chester has been crippled today after federal agents say they arrested more than 30 people involved in the lucrative scheme.
