Heres future visibility so as we go into the Early Morning hours 8 00 we expect areas at least north and west of philadelphia to have a mild visibility or lower around the philadelphia area a couple of miles and closer to the shore it should not be as bad but the areas inland will be watching for the morning commute. Back to the west a big line of storms moving into parts of the eastern half of the country from the southeast strechg tching up the great lakes. Coming up ill show you the timing of that and warmer temperatures. Now to a developing story, the owner of a northeast philadelphia barbershop is in Critical Condition after a shooting. Nbc 10 on the scene shortly after 9 00. The victim was found inside the shop on caster avenue between princeton avenue and friendship street. He has been shot four times. Expected to survive. The gunshot wound to the head might be a graze. Hes expected to survive however he is in Critical Condition. We dont know the motive for the shooting but we do know police are looking for two suspects. Theyre hoping Surveillance Video from cameras will help track them down. Putting the nation on high alert. Health officials are calling on u. S. Hospital workers to keep an eye out for patients with ebola symptoms tonight. This comes just one day after a nurse who treated an ebola patient tested positive for the deadly virus. Just a short time ago nbc news confirmed the nurse infected with the virus received a blood transfusion from a former ebola patient. The nurse has been identified as a 26yearold graduate of texas christian universities nursing school. She was on the team that cared for Thomas Eric Duncan that died from ebola last week in dallas. Right now she is isolated in stable condition. Hers is the first known case of person to person ebola transmission in the united states. This prompted questions about Hospital Safety here at home. The pennsylvania nurses union says its not confident that our local Health Care Workers could treat an ebola patient without serious risk to their own health and tonight that union issued a call to hospitals across the rion to Work Together before a crisis arrives. Dora spencer joins us live with a look at their preparations. George. That Union President told me tonight that nurses around the region have raised safety concerns in light of the news out of, nsz dallas and as of to they are not convinced that all hospitals here would be ready if an ebola patient walked into the er. We got our closest look yet at all the detailed protections and procedures that hospital workers there would use if they need to treat an ebola patient. But tonight the president of the pennsylvania nurses union told us thorough preparations have not been consistent across the board. Im not convinced were there and im certainly not convinced that all hospitals are there. So now theyre calling on all area hospitals and Health Officials to develop a single regionwide Treatment Center for acute ebola patients well trained and well staffed. It comes as governor corbet acknowledged that individual states are limited in some prevention tactics. We dont have monitoring to stop people from coming into pennsylvania. Thats the federal government. The nurses union is demanding preparedness basics at all hospitals. Immediate preliminary assessments by well protected nurses and infect Public Education materials as well. The Union President believes the single site ebola Treatment Facility would best pool our regions medical resources and would get everyone on the same page. Some hospitals i think are ahead of others but its a very uneven process. Mainline Health Hospital systems tells us they have been doing their ebola planning for a full four months now. Airports designated by the department of Homeland Security for additional ebola screenings. To help address growing ebola fears Delaware County leaders are set to unveil their ebola and Infectious Disease task force tomorrow. Tonight fire marshals are trying to determine if a fire that destroyed one home and damaged two others in Clifton Heights, Delaware County was set intentionally. Three people were hurt in that blaze this afternoon include a firefighter. Nbc 10s denise joins us live with the latest on the investigation. What have you learned about this . Reporter witnesses tell me it only took seconds for the home to go up in flames but it was actually a firefighter passing through the area that first noticed smoke that called 911. The fire was so intense. It was unbelievable. Reporter witnesses and neighbors look on as investigators go through a home destroyed by fire and two others that were damaged. The window blew open and all the flames started going up and it started to spread. Reporter some of the witnesses captured smoke and flames shooting from the home on south springville road in Clifton Heights belonging to joe that stepped out about 40 minutes earlier to run an errand. He returned to a ball of flames. The whole upstairs. Reporter he tells nbc 10 he believes a couple he allowed to stay in the home started the fire. Fire investigators say its too soon to tell how the fire started or whether it was an accident or set on purpose. All my clothes are gone. All my paperwork. Reporter a firefighter from upper darby fire along with the house guests started minor injuries. There was a couple on the second floor that couldnt get down the steps to the first floor so they escaped on the roof in the back and jumped down from there. Reporter his uncle escaped with the family dog but lost most of his belongings to smoke and heat damage. Very heart broken. They put a lot of work in that house. Reporter the red cross is helping out three people tonight. Two people and a firefighter were treated for sprains. We spoke to the stores owner and explain why things didnt completely pan out for the suspect. Reporter theres irony here. The store is called car sound and Security Incorporated but it only took a screwdriver for the suspect to walk up to the window and use the instrument to break a hole in the glass and break through. Luckily theres a Security Camera inside and that caught the entire thing. Surprised. Reporter desperate. Thats how he describes this suspect swinging a screwdriver. The same he used to bust the small hole in a window to get in. The man dressed in black aims a few misguided kix to the camera. In Mercer County Authorities Say a Rider University student was driving under the influence when her car slammed into the schools Fine Arts Building today.
