at the officers. police have not released results of the investigation, although he has returned to active duty. the north carolina legislature has convened for a rare special session to vote on proposed map of redrawn districts in north carolina. the map unveiled yesterday after a federal panel of judges ruled two of the districts are unconstitutional. we are at the legislative building in raleigh today with the latest tonight. looking ahead, tomorrow is the deadline to register to vote in the march 15 north carolina primary. if you plan to register, you need to make sure your charges in york county. 24-year-old and 23-year-old were arrested yesterday after a short chase in rock hill, among charges they are facing, possession of heroin and methamphetamine. a former school nurse and mother in charlotte has been sentenced to 10 years in prison in court this morning. davis was convicted last june of trying to hire hit to kill her exhusband. davis claims he was protesting their daughter. we will have the latest tonight. next, one school says its students can begin carrying guns on campus, and that is sparking and are those who fight for you a new study says no. >> keeping us cool, 39 cincinnati, 50 in charlotte. this ridge of high pressure is going to shift, it is going to southerly flow. that will allow us to warm into the mid 60's saturday, upper 60's sunday. unlike today, though, we will see more clouds in the forecast as we head into the weekend, saturday and sunday. 42 sunshine boone this afternoon. in the foothills, mainly sunny taylorsville and 5 foux wilkesboro. generally mid 50's across the piedmont, 54 concord, mooresville and monroe. in the sand hills, low to mid 50's, 52 in pageland, thursday afternoon. future cast for this evening, clear skies in charlotte, clear mountains tonight. as we head overnight we still have a lot of ice ahead of us for friday afternoon -- a lot of sunshine friday afternoon. partly cloudy skies for sat afternoon. mild temperatures and scattered rain shower possible up in the high country. we have more rain, though, in the forecast, early next week. 31 gastonia tomorrow morning, hickory. 27 in boone. would you characterize this show? >> this is a great show for the east coast, we have people from all over the east coast, carvers new york, even some from oklahoma coming out for this show, so you will see some of the best in the country at this event. it is free. open to the public. it is a competition. people bring in the best carvings they have done the past two years to compete against other world class, we have novice and intermediateet competing as well, so it is for all levels, it is great to see. planned, so people interested or think they might be interested can come in and see some of the seminars, everything is free. we have vendors selling knives and books. >> wow. >> this is the largest wood carving show in the southeast. i want to get involved with the charlotte wood carvers, do i have to know how, or can i come in as a beginner? >> you can come in as a beginner. at the show, we have a table where people can get to know us. we have eight weeks of classes in our club that are completely free. we set you up with a kit that kind of gives you the gloves and knives, what you need to protect your hands. you start off with a block of wood, we create wonderful
