so mark, tell us how the young man helped get everyone out. >> reporter: christine, he was the only person inside the house that heard the fire crackling, he immediately got everyone's attention in the home and got them out the back door before the flames took over the rest of the place. i want to show you video of what that house looks like this morning. it was completely torched by the fire overnight. six-year-old carter lost most of favorite things. his family members. the boy heard the fire before he saw it and when he saw it, he acted fast, got his mom out of the bathroom, woke up woke up grandma. hero. everywhere. i couldn't even see whether we was scary. >> it was like a crashing window. >> 30 seconds after we came out the roof started collapsing, i'm glad we got out when we did. >> reporter: sounds like a narrow escape. three people in the house, mom, grandma and carter, all got to safety. fire. they are staying at a hotel until they find another place to live permanently. mark davenport, wbtv on your side. >> john: new information one of two teens accused of shooting at police in east charlotte is out of jail this morning. investigators say two plain closed police officer were chasing after a 13 and 14-year-old at milton near barrington road. one of the teens opened fire. no one was hurt, police chased custody. officers haven't released the names of the teens because they are minors, the 14-year-old who police say pulled the trigger has been released to his parents. >> christine: a man shot by we're learning he may have been a suspect in a kidnapping and police chase in south carolina a few years ago. investigators till us dennis matthew penny, jr., shot by deputies wednesday night in anson county. we told you about the story as breaking news yesterday morning. deputies called to a home for a welfare check when penny exchanged gunfire. he was taken to the hospital where he died yesterday afternoon, deputies with the chesterfield county sheriff's office believe he may have abducted his children in 2012. the sbi is assisting in the investigation. >> john: the trial of a man accused of ordering the killings of this lake wylie couple was deplayed. deplayed -- delayed. jamell cureton is a high ranking member of the bloods gang, he had doug and debbie london murder soded so doug london could not testify in a robbery case. >> christine: a lincoln county employee faces charges after investigators say he stole thousands of gallons of gas on the taxpayer's dime. joseph gibson used his government-issued fuel card at various gas stations loading up on more than than 9,000 gallons of gas. he was caught on video in a truck with a large fuel tank. he is facing felony embezzlement and fraud charges. more than 100 gambling machines were confiscated from 48 businesses in gaston county, as you can see, wbtv was there as some of the machines were hauled back to the gaston county police department. the business owners who operated the machines will face misdemeanor charges. more than 44 officers from police say the money will go to the local school system. >> john: opponents of the non-discrimination ordinance will speak. the news conference will be held pushing for governor pat mccrory and north carolina general assembly to hold a special session to stop the ordinance before it takes effect april 1st. the ordinance has been at the center of controversy since it was passed by charlotte city council. supporter fos outside the generals spoke out yesterday.they said it gives people in the lgbt community protections from discrimination. opponents say a safety issue to allow transgender people to use the bathroom with which they identify. >> i, for one, am tired of being denied rest room use. i, for one, am tired of being i, for one, am sick of getting my food spit in. it is time for a change. >> allowing men in womens bathrooms or locker rooms or changing rooms puts women and children in developments to tell you about. world health organization is saying that sierra leone's ministry of health and sanitation announced the end of a recent flare-up of ebola in the west african country. that is good news there. that the world health organization confirmed two people tested positive for ebola in guinea and they are sending as of today, i believe, epidemiologists and vaccination team you can see on the tweet to support the response. while one country is sort of celebrating the end of ebola for now, another one is dealing with another flare up. we'll keep an eye on the situation in west africa and let you know if we hear anything more about the team of epidemiologists and what they are doing. >> christine: as many as 100 people will be losing jobs in pineville soon, the kohl's in carolina pavilion is one of 18 stores nationwide closing. the department store announced it would be shutting down under-performing stores in february. it released a full list yesterday. so that pineville location will be closed on june 19th. >> john: residents of a community in hickory worried they have a nest in a tree they have been swooping down and attacking anyone who gets too close. >> reporter: john, a long list. we talk to people last night at the meeting. they told us a bunch of things. all the problems they are having with the students that should be in school that aren't in school. some of the things they've seen, cars broken into, stuff stolen from their homes, seen kids out in the streets getting in fights during school hours. a lot of different things going on and they need those problems addressed. that is why the emergency meeting was held overnight. get you inside the meeting last night. video that we got there. neighbors had a chance to voice concerns with cms and cmpd. residents, older neighbors say they are worried things will get worse where they are. cms says they addressed the problems of kids skipping school but been a challenge. they are working on solutions. has nine buildings, 2100 students. they need more staff to control all the children on that campus. neighbors left that meeting last night wondering if anything will ever change. >> we feel like that there's no one in charge. they're not accountable. no one is held accountable for these children. >> reporter: last night at the meeting cmpd says west meck has an sro but they will be addressing these concerns head-on, partnering with the school. we'll follow the story for you right here on wbtv. reporting live, mark davenport, wbtv on your side. >> christine: thanks, mark. all new, lawmakers in south carolina introduced a bill aimed at fighting internet predators. alicia's law, an internet safety initiative to help fund the internet crimes against children task force. the bill was named after a pittsburgh woman, kidnapped and tortured at the age of 13 by someone she met on the internet. she talked yesterday about the enforcement agencies with more tools to combat internet predators. >> the law enforcement officers are my angels. they gave me a second chance at life. but there are so many children, i'm not the only one. you can't say okay we saved this kid now we're done it is over, all the kids are saved. that is not the case at all. there are so many children. >> christine: alan wilson says since 2005 there have been 603 arrests in the stays, 417 convictions for internet-related crimes against children. alicia's law in effect in ten states. >> john: a box found in south carolina with the label "human remains" was full of rotten vegetables. found in horry county with what and to be blood on the outside. when they opened it, they found a deteriorating tomato, onion and unidentified liquid. unclear how the box wound up there. >> christine: another story all airlines flight from north carolina to new york was forced to make an emergency landing. flight wa from raleigh-durham to laguardia, hit turbulence and struck by lightning. the plane landed safely at new york's jfk airport last night. passengers described the terrifying experience. >> it was bad. i thought we got hit by a missile. >> no. >> it was a flash of light and big explosion. the plane dipped about 100 feet, i don't know, felt like i was on a roller coaster and i smelled smoke. >> no one was hurt, the federal aviation administration is investigating. >> john: it is national child passenger safety week and we're on your side helping parents make sure their child's car seat is properly installed. there are two car seat safety check in our area today, charlotte-mecklenburg police holding a check this morning from 9:30 until 11:30 at freedom division office on wilkinson boulevard. from 8:00 until 11:30 at the headquarters on pleasant road in fort mill. seat. now 6:35, get over to kristen miranda. >> christine: she has more brand new details right, kristen, of this crash involving a deputy in north carolina?
