[ no aweo ] spring valley this morning. mallory. >>reporter: michelle, good morning. seen here at her bus stop at 8:15 yesterday morning. but we're told she never made it onto that bus, and then she never made it to school. i do want you to take a good look at this photo now. this is the 10-year-old girl, 10-year-old kelly riveira pillco. she was last seen wearing a black jacket, a blue overall type skirt and brown ugg boots. she's 5'2", 118 pounds. police believe she may be in danger. spring valley police along with has beenerrine volunteer group searched until late last night. they focused on the area near the bus stop at the corner of bethune boulevard and ben wild road. that's where they set up their command post. back out here live this morning, a search will continue today, but it's important for us to point out that those initial hours right after a child goes missing are extremely important to the investigation. if you did see anything out of the ordinary yesterday in this area, you are asked to report it meal. live in spring valley, mallory hoff, channel 7 eyewitness news. it is 4:35. on to a developing story out of california where rescue officials say it is a miracle that nobody is dead after a train derailment that threw a car into a creek. passengers who were partially submerged in that car say it was a scene of total panic and confusion. an evening train from san jose to stockton hit a big tree on the tracks, triggering that derailment. 14 people got hurt, four of them have serious injuries. that train line will remain closed at least through today. 4:35. police in brooklyn are trying to track down a dangerous armed robbery. check out -- robber. check out the clear surveillance video of the robbery. he pulled a gun in a brownsville bodega and put a customer in a choke headline. watch what he does. right there. he fires his weapon once. the robber stole more than $400. the good news in all that chaos, nobody got hurt. we are learning more details this morning in the search for a nurse who's been missing for months after getting off of work at bellevue from the bronx has not been seen since december 8th. last night police removed eferred from her home on 198th street in bedford park, including a computer. her husband told them she went back to bangladesh to care for her parents. now he is missing as well. >> he said watch my house because i got to go to my country in bangladesh. i never seen him after this. >> yesterday investigators dug up concrete in front of rockman's home. officers have been posted ouz of that same home. at this point the matter is being called a missing persons case. 4:36. police in brooklyn trying to figure out who brought weapons to a public school campus. a pellet gun and cork screw were found at p.s.198 yesterday. police were called an both weapons in confiscated. funeral services for former first lady nancy reagan have been set now. mrs. reagan will lie in repose at the ronald reagan presidential library tomorrow closed to the public, will be held friday morning. the former first lady died sunday in los angeles of congestive heart failure. first lady michelle obama will attend the funeral. 4:37. less than a week to go before a possible new jersey transit strike. there's no deal with the unions and no governor christie. labor transit officials will reportedly meet again today, but governor chris christie will not be joining the talks. he's taking a post-presidential vacation for his 30th wedding anniversary. the governor says that he'll stay in touch by phone because in his up the south, so it's coming off the shore right into the camera. so we have a little bit of a south to southwest wind today. we're going to be looking at a temperature of 52, maybe drops off to 51 to 50 this morning around the five boroughs. it's going to be cooler here north and west because the winds are light, the sky is clear, the temperature drops off. there's a couple of sprinkles to our west. that's the warm front, the surge of air coming at us, so we can't rule out running into a sprinkle today burks we will have a lot of sunshine throughout this day. could be a sprinkle around this morning, but that's the warm air surging up and over us. by lunchtime it's 64, and this afternoon we're going to be at 68 degrees, 21 degrees warmer than normal and it only gets warmer. weather and the bqe right near 45th street. you can see we have delays in both directions. check out that southbound delay. we'll head over to our maps and tell you what it is going on. bqe southwest brooklyn bridge down to atlantic avenue you have construction. so that's south of that delay that we were just looking at. bd, f, m trains fast track so we have service suspended between 14th street and 57th street. g trains sus pended between court square and bedford no, sirtrand avenue. and q trains track work has been completed. new jersey transit, long island railroad, metro north doing just fine, no major problems there. and in manhattan 42nd street is close between lexington and madison avenue this. is ongoing police activity, so this is a big deal with a closure in both directions right through midtown. and the george washington bridge has a great ride as you come across the span. getting inbound it's a minor delay. lincoln and holland, you do have some construction there. and then here is a that car was going moments before the deadly wreck. bizarre video this morning of a 15-foot tree that stuck in a car's front grill. the driver, he was just driving along the wrong side of the road until the cops pulled him over for a little chat. >> yeah. and rescue crews rush into frigid waters to save a driver trapped in a car in connecticut, an cam alright guys. i want to show you some kid does not deserve, and a mother does not deserve to go through this. >> 23-year-old suspect eric patterson is charged with two counts of death by auto. exclusive surveillance video shows a sedan running a red light just seconds before the crash. investigators believe patterson was driving 50 miles per hour over the 25 mile per hour speed limit. well, some people believe half of what they see, so they were a bit skeptical of these pictures on a suburban chicago police department's facebook page. see, take a look at what you're looking at right there. that is a tree caught in the to prove the pictures were true, roselle pd released what was a january dui traffic stop. not only had the driver uprooted the tree, they were nailed for driving on the wrong side of the row, yeah, with the east side here, bowling green, wall street, up toors the brooklyn bridge, all the way down to the battery here, it's glass right here on the east river with just a little light west wind, so the river right there is protected by the buildings. the wind doesn't really put a ripple on the water. this morning, back and forth, as you make the commute. it's going to be a great day. a great start to the day where the temperature is 52 degrees. i think normal overnight low is 53, 54. the humidity is dry, the winds are west at three, the pressure rising. yesterday's high was right around 60 degrees. normal is 47, normal low 33. so we're just off-the-chart warm here. sun is up officially at 6:19, that will be gorgeous. and the sunset right at 6:00, a little bit before, and that too is going to be really nice. so today upper 60s. first march 70-degree weather since 2012. records are within reach, record highs tomorrow and thursday. temperatures will step back a little bit, but they'll be above normal still as we go into the weekend, and, of course, we're going to set our clocks ahead one hour this weekend. spring ahead. northport and massapequa at 42, hauppauge 39, 33 east hampton. it's going to be a little cooler on south-facing shores. the reason being the wind is mostly out of the south and the park meters are showing a west wind. but they're generally out to lunch when it comes to winds as far as that because they're covered up by the trees and things in central park. so today we are going to be looking at that, a south to a southwest wind to at times a southeast wind. there are some showers back here in this line. right there is a warm front. they're kind of dying out as they come over the mountains. they'll probably die out even more as they get to jersey. so the futurecast this morning shows just clouds and even by 9:00 not even a sprinkle. but the temperatures warm up fast. we're going to be in the low 60s, mid-60s, upper 60s as we get to the afternoon, and then tomorrow morning we once again start out around 50, 51 degrees. it will be quite warm again. your accuweather forecast, sunny and warmer. 50s eastern long island. that's because of the southerly wind coming up off the water which is 40 degrees. but central jersey warms to 70. 68 around the park. partly cloudy, very mild tonight, 51. tomorrow it's even warmer. around the five boroughs tomorrow and toors new jersey in the inland areas. -- towards new jersey in the inland areas. 75 on thursday. both those days set new record highs. and we do cool down this wean, but normal high is 47. and as 15 down to only 5 years of age. a michigan woman says she is the luckiest mother in the world. she lost her daughter in a mass shooting and then got her back in her hometown of kalamazoo. they showed support last night killings of six people and the wounding of two. for a time doctors believed 14- year-old abby kumpf was brain dead. they were arranging to donate her organs when she suddenly responded to her mother's touch and squeezed her hand. since then abby has made an unexpected comeback and today being transferred to a rehab center for the next stage of her amazing recovery. >> she's just improving. she's amazing. she went from not being able to move or talk to walking and she's smiling and she's laughing. >> abby arehab is -- abby's rehab is expected to last approximately six months >> amazing. a jury has awarded "dancing with the stars" cohost erin andrews $55 million in her lawsuit against a hotel for putting a stalker in the room next to her. andrews claimed the for his sex tape lawsuit against a website gawker. he is suing gawker for $100 million. he says his privacy was video for having sex with a girlfriend's wife. hogan testify at first he did not know his friend had recorded the encounter. frightening moments for a driver in connecticut who police rescue from rushing water after a scare -- rescued from rushing water after a scary crash. police say the car ended upside down in the norwalk river. police bravely pulled that driver to safety. eyewitness news reporter lucy yanag has what happened next. >>reporter: it was a dramatic rescue in norwalk, connecticut early sunday morning. police say a driver lost control near the intersection of main and wall streets, tore through a small park, plowed over the embankment, crash landing 15 feet below, upside down in the norwalk river. first responders wasted no time. they braved the freezing, fast- moving waters. >> you got a rope? >>reporter: and found the driver still alive. >> it was excellent teamwork by both the fire department and the norwalk police department, selflessly entered that water. you'll see it on the video. the water is rushing out, all the windows in the vehicle are broken out so water was rushing into the vehicle. >>reporter: this video is from one of the officer's body cam. it shows how quickly they and firefighters got to the driver and how they saved his life. >> basically no lighting over there. they had to scale down a 15- foot wall to get down to the stream level and then enter the water there. so, again, it was really great work by all involved. police are now investigating this accident to determine if drugs or alcohol were involve. the driver has not yet been charged. we're told he was rushed to the in norwalk, connecticut, lucy yang, at 5:02 now, a woman is in critical condition this morning after she was hit by a car right in the middle of a bronx street. >> it happened on williams bridge road late last night. the driver never stopped. eyewitness news reporter darla miles is live at the scene with the video police want you to take a look at. dala. >>reporter: good morning, michelle, ken. the police, the nypd, they're looking for a late 1980s model white cadillac. they say it should have major front end damage from the hit who spots it should be able to see it. in fact, you can see it in this surveillance video. you can see the 47-year-old woman trying to cross williams bridge road. she is standing on the double yellow line and is passed by cars in both directions. then here comes that white cadillac. it hits her and it keeps going. police say it kept going north on williams bridge road and did not stop. all of this happened last night around 10:30 across from pelham parkway houses here in the alerton section of the bronx. now, that 47-year-old woman is in critical condition. she did survive, but she is now at jacoby medical center. if you know anything about this incident, please call crime vanished on her way to school. kelly riveira pillco has not been seen since 8:15 yesterday morning when she was at her bus stop in spring valley. she did not get on her bus or and investigators believe she may be in danger. stay with eyewitness news for a live report on this search in the next half hour. and new this morning, a new jersey state trooper is in the hospital after being hit by a car during a traffic stop. it happened in glowster county in south jersey. the unidentified trooper was hit on southbound 295 in west stepford township last night. that driver stayed at the scene. officials say he did get out of his car during a traffic stop when a car hit him. the car that had been pulled over as well, and the trooper was taken by helicopter to the hospital. no word on his condition. developing overnight in california, first responders who jumped into a fast-moving creek to rescue passengers from a derailed train car cannot fathom that no one was killed. 14 people were hurt, four of them seriously, but the commuter train hit a large tree on the tracks during a run from san jose to stockton and several cars derailed. one was thrown into the creek and partially submerged with an engineer and passengers inside that water. panic inside that rail car was overwhelming. now to the very latest on the presidential race. it is now a week after super tuesday and another round of voting in key states is set for today. it raise the the ante for presidential frontrunners trying to pull away from the pack. abc's stephanie ramos joins us live from washington this and catch the crosstown bus. a great morning for the commutes, a great day tomorrow, really mild numbers. in the five boroughs, a little warm, in the suburbs you neat jackets and things. a dry humanity, a calm wind. that allows the temperature particularly in the suburbs to really drop off. the pressure has been rising, 30.13, that's a good sign. yesterday's high 60 degrees. normal is 47 and it's only going to get warmer. you know, our normal overnight low is 33, and we're starting out right now at 50. so spring fever this week as temperatures go to the 60s and 70s. records within reach tomorrow and thursday. cooler on the south-facing shores of lyle. that's because mostly we're going to have a south/southeast wind today. 50 in the park to 40 in white plains, 35 poughkeepsie. this is how we see it cooling off. you get to higher elevations, clear skies and you have a light to a calm wind. so when you have that calm wind, the temperature really drops off. the wind is kind of all over the place this morning. it's showing a light north to northwest wind on the profiles. that will switch around to the southeast today, warm things up nicely. front, and that's the warm air that's going to surge up and over us today, and that's to our south and west. and that might bring a sprinkle to parts of the area this morning. but on our futurecast, our computer model, it's just showing these clouds coming from the west and there's not a sprinkle on there. there's one way over there in syracuse and rochester. but as this warm air surges up, we get to the afternoon and we're in the mid- to upper 60s. tomorrow morning we start off around 50 once again. and then by the afternoon we're into the 70s, low, mid-70s around, particularly west. but you see the south-facing shores are going to be cooler with the southerly wind that is coming up. so we've got the jet stream way to the north, the warm air surges right up the atlantic coast here and we're going to be seeing temperatures 15 to 30 degrees warmer than normal. but we'll have 50s eastern long island, particularly on these south shore with that wind coming up over the 40-degree water in the atlantic. 70 in central jersey. partly cloudy, mild tonight, low 51. tomorrow we got sunshine, a warmer day, 65 on the south- facing shores and 74 around the so you'll see that we're at 70 for tomorrow, 75 on thursday. looking at some beautiful weather. you know, there might be a sprinkle or two or a shower around. and that means a stray shower. but, still, we're going to beat the old record of 74 set back in 2006. an then we'll cool down as we get -- and then we'll cool down as we get into the weekend. there's a shot at a couple of showers on sunday, maybe one on monday. but, still, those temperatures are going to be about 10 degrees warmer than normal for this time of the year. so some very nice weather. and as i mentioned earlier, don't forget, set your clocks this weekend an hour forward street. that victim remains in critical condition this morning. eyewitness news reporter darla miles live at the scene with the video of the car that police want to find. darla, good morning. >>reporter: good morning again, ken. you're right, that 47-year-old woman is in critical condition. at jacoby medical center and police are trying to find the driver who hit her here on williams bridge road and then just sped off. take a look at that surveillance video. you can see the 47-year-old woman who was trying to cross the street and she is standing on the double yellow line in the middle of traffic. and then it appears as if she gets caught between two cars going in the opposite direction by that white cadillac. this happened around 10:30 last night on williams bridge road right across the street from pelham parkway houses here in the alerton section of the bronx. police say that white cadillac just kept going north on williams bridge road and kept going and did not stop. now, they say this is a late 1980s model white cadillac and it should be spotted pretty easily because of significant front end damage. if you know anything about this incident, please call 10-year-old girl police say vanished on her way to school. eyewitness news reporter mallory hoff is live in spring valley in rockland county. mallory, good morning to you. >>reporter: michelle, good morning. we actually put the alert out initially on our abc7ny news app. what we've learned about this little girl, she was actually yesterday morning at her bus stop in spring valley. after that we're told she never got on that bus and she never made it to school. i do want you to take a good look now at this 72. this is the 10-year-old girl, kelly riveira pillco. she was last seen wearing a black jacket, blue overtype skirt and brown ugg boots. we're told she's 5'2", 118 pounds. investigators believe she may in fact be in danger. spring valley police with the help of has beenerrine volunteer organization searched until late last night. they focus on the area near the bus stop at the corner of bethune boulevard and ben wiel row. that's where they had a command post set up. last night we're told this investigation will now continue as well as search efforts. it is important to point out that the hours after a child disappears, those hours can be pistol in the -- pivotal in morning surrounding a nurse missing for months after getting off work at bellevue hospital. 30-year-old methuzarahman from the bronx has not been seen since december 8th. last night police removeed a computer from her home. her husband told coworkers she went back to bang bangladesh to care for her parents. now he's missing as well. >> he said watch my house because i gotta go to my country, bangladesh. i never seen him before after this. >> investigators dug up the concrete in front of rahman's home. officers have been posted outside the same residence. at this point the matter is being called a missing persons case. if you have any information, you are asked to call police. 5:34. and this morning a man with nearly two dozen license suspensions is charged with hitting and killing two new jersey teenagers. 23-year-old eric patterson made his first court appearance yesterday. attended a vigil for 17-year- old bryan rodriguez and 16-year- old noel herrara. both died and a third teen was injured when a car slammed into them on saturday night. >> i knew him since sixth grade. he was a great kid. everybody loved him. >> this is horrible to see them passed away like that. a kid does not deserve and a mother does not deserve to go through this. >> patterson is charged with two counts of death by auto. exclusive surveillance video shows a sedan running a red crash. investigators believe patterson was driving more than 50 miles an hour over the 25 mile per hour speed limit. a dangerous armed robber is on the run in brooklyn, but police have an important clue in their search. the robbery was caught on clear surveillance video on saturday. the robber pulled a gun at a brooklyn bodega, demanded cash, grabbed a panicking customer, put him in a chokehold and fire the robber got away with more than $400. fortunately no one was hurt. also in brooklyn, police are trying to figure out who brought some what could be called weapons to a public school campus. a pellet gun and a cork screw were discovered at p.s.95 in brooklyn. police officers were called, both potential weapons were confiscated. it is 5:36. there's less than a week to go before a possible new jersey transit strike. no deal with the unions and no governor christie. labor and transit officials met yesterday in newark, but governor christie won't be joining the talks. he's taking a post-presidential body cam video from one of the officers at the scene though shows the tough conditions the first responders faced. getting the man out of that car alive. police say the man had torn through a small parks, then he plowed right through a metal guard rail and zoomed over the embankment, crash landing 15 feet below in that cold, fast- moving river. >> it was excellent teamwork by both the fire department and the norwalk police department. again, selflessly entered that water. you'll see in the video the water is rushing out, all the windows in the vehicle were broken out, so water was rushing into the vehicle. >> the driver was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. police are still investigating whether drugs or alcohol may have played any part in the crash. 5:42. chicago serving as the poster child for one police department's anti-drunk driving campaign. take a look. these pictures were taken during a dui stom in roselle, illinois in january. that is a 15-foot long tree in the car's grill. the department also released video of the stop because many people thought the picture was photoshopped. by the way, the driver also was ticketed for being on the wrong side by her desperate attempts to escape the elevator. prosecutors say it was a case of gross negligence. it's being treated as involuntary manslaughter. a new study shows the amount of fat that you are
