Is the scene right now of a twoalarm fire seemingly under control at this point, although firefighters have an active scene with a ladder extended up to the 6th and 7th floors. Im not sure if you can see on the sidewalk passed these firefighters in front of me, all the glass thats on the street here on 71st street from when firefighters clearly knocked out windows in an effort to vent the smoke. Were told it was a heavy smoke condition in a stair well in this building. Were told one injury, but its not clear how severe it is and how this fire started or were a large apartment that started. Were following breaking news out of connecticut. A Science Teacher in new town is under arrests this afternoon for allegedly carrying a gun to school. An Armed Security officer in new Ton Middle School stopped the teacher this morning. Eyewitness News Reporter marcus solace has the detail its. Reporter if theres a place in the United States thats sensitive to this, its newton connecticut where administers are dealing with a gun at a school and allegedly brought onto the school by a teacher. Jason adams, 46yearold, a science custody. He was detained by security personnel in place. Newton schools have Armed Security after the massacre at sandy hook. They have the guards in place. They noticed that carrying a concealed firearm, detained him. They responded to the location, and they did an investigation where they found that mr. Adams does have a valid pistol permit in the state of connecticut, however, it is against the law to bring a gun onto a school and so he was brought to the Police Station where he was processed and charged with the possession of a weapon on School Grounds and he was released on his own recog nan sense. Police say the 12yearold was walking home from dormant high school when a man in a white van approached her, and told her her mother had been in a car accident and needed to give her a ride. Two firefighters being treated for minor injuries after flames ripped through an apartment on park avenue on the upper eat side. The fire started in an Apartment Building in the 6th floor. Its part of what her family calls her visual bucket list. Her parents made the list to show lizzy some of the wonders of the world before she loses her sight. Shirleen allicot with that story. A teacher at Newtown Middle School arrested for carrying a gun on campus and a fire on the high rise known as the tower of power on the upper east side. People have gathered to see whats happened to this prestigious building. Well take you to the 7th floor where you can see windows are open and have been knocked out. We understand from the fdny the fire started in the 6th floor on stairwell and the smoky conditions traveled up to the 7th floor. This was on the backside of the building. Flames are out right now. The building is known as the tower of power since its been the home to david koch, ron pearlman to name a few. It was the former residence of john d. Rockefeller. It was built in 1930.
