a little with that maybe a shower or two, especially over parts of the hudson valley. and then tomorrow afternoon we try to break out into a little more sunshine, and that propels temperatures into presidential candidate refusing to back away from his plan to ban muslims from coming to america. he appeared on live with kelly and michael and then spoke one on one with political reporter dave evans. meanwhile there was a rally on the steps of city hall a short time ago. new york city leaders and members of different religious communities spoke out. >> a teenager walking home from a funeral in queens killed by a hit and run driver. in corona when he was struck. police are trying to find that driver. i'm david novarro. >> i'm shirleen allicot. we begin this half hour with new details about the suffolk county police chief arrested by fbi. >> jamesburg is facing federal assault charges, long island reporter kristin thorne live outside the federal courthouse in central islip with more on this story. >> reporter: dave and shirleen, this is the federal indictment just unsealed against former suffolk county police chief james burke. it sames burke assaulted a suspect in his custody who was handcuffed at the time. it also says burke pressured his officers to lie to authorities who were assault. the fbi arrested 51-year-old james burke at had his mother's home this morning and brought mehlville for processing. burke had been with the suffolk county police department for he resigned in october he said to be with his family and for personal reasons. prosecutors say in 2012 burke assaulted 28-year-old christopher lobe. lobe had stolen burke's gun belt and other items from burke's department issued vehicle which was parked in his driveway. lobe was arrested and brought to the fourth precinct. >> at that point the defendant burke entered the interrogation room and is alleged to have repeatedly slapped and punched lobe about the face, head and body. while lobe was in custody and handcuffed. >> prosecutors say burke pressured detectives to lie to federal agents who were investigating lobe's claim about being assaulted. when defendant burke met with members of the suffolk county police department who had witnessed burke's assault of lobe to agree on ways to get their stories straight. >> lobe's attorney issued this statement to eyewitness news. we are grat foyeed that this long overdue prosecution has seeing that justice is done. we will continue to cooperate with federal prosecution as needed. >> he has vigorously defended himself to date, and will continue to do so. we believe the charges are unwarranted and will not guilty stand up later in court. >> reporter: burke's attorney says burke will plead not guilty at his arraignment here in federal court later on this afternoon. if he is found guilty of these charges he faces five to five and a half years in prison. we're live in central islip, i'm kristin thorne channel 7 eyewitness news. thank you. a 15-year-old boy is under arrest in florida accused of shooting and killing a brooklyn rabbi. rabbi joseph raxon was kilned while walking it miami-dade last august. police believe the suspect deandre edwin charms was on a sabbath. new at noon, a wasn't a ferrari but a former university of connecticut basketball star reportedly charged with taking a car on a joyride ferris buehler style. jeff adrien was outside a hotel when he spotted a valet with a mercedes. he got the keys and drove off returning six hours later. he was reportedly arrested for grand theft auto. he was on the husky's team that made the final four in 2009. now to the new information about the mass shooting in san bernardino. fbi revealing this morning that they now discovered that the couple responsible for the attack were radicalized before they met online and started dating each marci gonzalez has the new developments. >> david and shirleen, the fbi now revealing new findings about the killer couple saying their discussions about terrorism started long before the massacre they carried out >> new insight into the couple who carried out last week's terror attack in san bernardino. the fbi director vealing today syed farook and tashfeen malik were radicalized even before they started dating. >> as early as the end of 2013 they were talking about jihad and martyrdom. >> investigators say they may bring gun charges against farook's former neighbor. the 24-year-old accused of boying the two assault style rifles used in the massacre. marquez who posted on facebook the night of the attack said i'm very sorry guys. it was a pleasure. he may have known about the terror plot in advance. >> he said something along the lines of like there's a lot of muslims in our own backyard just ready to go haywire and attack. we didn't think nothing of it. >> today both of farook's parents are now on the terror watch list. >> i don't think maybe the fbi know contactually what their role, if there is any role. if you add them to the no fly list they can't return home and it makes them at least available to be interviewed. >> investigators also looking into a deposit of more than $28,000 into farook's bank account in the weeks before the attack saying they believe he took out a loan with an online lending company to help care for the baby daughter they were leaving behind. >> and law enforcement officials tell abc news on cell phones and computers the couple tried to destroy, investigators recovered images of other targets they may have been marci gonzalez channel 7 eyewitness news. back in our area, a letter of hate targeting muslims and defending donald trump was sent to a mosque in new jersey. the islamic center in jersey city received a letter yesterday calling muslims "evil and telling them to" go back to it's one of several hate-filled letters recently sent to the mosque. >> a person running to be the president of all americans is abusing millions of americans because muslims in america are millions right. so he should not say what he said and to fabricate lies. >> leaders at the mosque also say they have received several threatening phone calls, one in violent home invasion robbery. police say jason thompson and clemente carlos entered an apartment in paterson wearing shifts with sheriff logos and replica sheriff's badges. they tied the up the residents and threatened them with guns. helped lead to those arrests. the men are charged with robbery, aggravated assault, and impersonating law enforcement officers. a warning for bruce springsteen for the afternoon. still getting into the 50s. 49 right now. cloudy skies, that wind coming in from the south around 6 that light wind lasting into tonight. that can allow fog to develop. don't have much wind to scour out the atmosphere. 46 in somerville, 50 at belmar. check out tops river all the way up to 54, eventually i expect these 50s to populate areas of northern new jersey as well. 43 in monticello. middle and upper 40s there during the day. low 50s on the island. 50 in southwestern connecticut at bridgeport. a lot of cloud cover on the radar, satellite picture. a couple of breaks moving into parts of ocean county. that's probably why toms river was up to 54. if we see a break or two of sunshine this afternoon, these temperatures can outperform what our computer models are showing which is in the lower 50s. mid-50s this afternoon. we get down to about 48 overnight tonight. could be some fog developing after midnight. kind of a slow start tomorrow where you have low clouds and fog during the morning. then you get sunshine developing during the afternoon that will propel our temperatures into the upper 50s. then it's unusual warmth as we records are going to be challenged. north. opening the floodgates for a lot of mild air to move in. warmest air. 10 to 20 degrees above normal for this time of the year. normal's in the mid-40s. we could be talking about temperatures in the middle 60s by sunday. in the meantime accuweather forecast for the afternoon, breaks. the high getting up to 54. fog and low clouds in the morning giving way to some sun in the afternoon, upper 50s, quite mild despite quite a few clouds on friday. 60 on saturday and that 64 sunday could be tieing the record which was set back in 1923. maybe some rain coming in by late monday. behind that 50 degrees on tuesday. usually behind cold fronts this time of the year it's in like the low 20s. >> anybody worried about this warm temperature. i'm starting to get a little little hope. instead her christmas spirit redefining what the season really means. the fire killed sofia terry's parents and three siblings. she only survived because her dad cradled her in his arms to protect her. she was still badly burned, lost a foot and hand. she didn't lose her spirit. when her aunt bought her a christmas card stand she wished for it to be filled up with cards. after her aunt posted it on facebook social media responded in a big way with thousands of cards and more on the way. if you would like to send her a card we put the address on our facebook page as well as she tweeted. a stranger paying more than half of what was left of the balance. airs who lives in new hampshire is so grateful she shared the note and what the person paid for. she says her boys are
