Director sherren is present. Thank you i have a motion to approve the august thirds 2016 agenda. So moved. Second there is a motion and a second that we approve the august 3, all in favor, say i. I. Opposed . The is have it. So the that item passes next well have the approval of the june 22, 2016, Commission Meeting minutes if no corrections. Move to approve. It has been there is a motion that has been seconded that we approve the june 22, 2016, Commission Minutes i. Opposed . The is have it. So the that item passes we changed this around so we have the report from the director directors report director sherren. Thank you commissioner president james i want to note i actually asked bridget to change this because staff come from the employee of the month award id like them to hear the directors report as well thats the only change i wanted to say that we spent a fruitful 4 or 5 days in san Diego San Francisco took 10 people mostly manager and one nonprofits providers to the conference with the National Association of area aging on the conference we go to and commissioner president james has been before and as usual good information about policy updates at the federal level also a good chance to exchange the best practices with the colleagues countrys the country and San Francisco stands out in many ways this year, the winners of 3 awards at the conference that was exciting to achievement and one innovation and your Innovation Award was the top award another literally big check only one thousand dollars. laughter . So, anyway to the first one we won the award called a creative way to outreach to the diverse aging population in San Francisco thats a partnership with the bayview Hunters Point really bayview Hunters PointSenior Citizens program as conceived by alicia that works added bayview and really reenvisioned the was the community does outreach and presented last year at the conference and a lot of people fouled with her asking her to share hair model that was excited and the second thing growing old knowledge young how the social subcontractors with the seniors youre well aware of the program and you anguish what it does for older adults and adult disabilities it is nice to know youll talk about the other award in a minute the third one the one we won innovations was for chance with the senior in 0 San Francisco the Restaurant Meals Program two sites where we partner with selfhelp at the restaurant to provide restaurant millions for older adults so it was really excited that that is a contribute to the staff and Community Partners we won the 3 awards and considered to be at the first and foremost of innovation and achievement with the aging Disability Services in addition while we were there we heard about another award i dont know if aaron is here but because ill get to wrong we got another ward for the sf Connective Program for that the Psychological Association that is really exists as well to two awards for that program two National Awards for the program in one week is pretty great. Yep. The other thing is were partnering with the Alzheimers Association and the adding we put in a new proposal to the administration for Community Living to do work with on around alzheimers and dementia and really the Alzheimers Association approached us to partner with them we we asked the adding to partner 3 goals one is to reach out to People Living in isolation in terms of part of the vision of the department and the second to implement evidence based programs and Alzheimers Association has a program called savvy caregiver and so theyll be reaching out to more people that and the third is to partner with an well to reach out to people intellectual and others disabilities as they age people are experiencing alzheimers and dementia and Different Levels for people that are living with disabilities so we pandered with the adrc and got that that in and well hear in a month if we receive that grant i think that is, i guess the third thing cindy will talk about this i forgot they didnt meet in 0 july the board of supervisors passed the dignity fund that basically means the ballot measure that will go on the ballot in november and sandy will talk about the process but basically with the process the mayor and the board the Funding Coalition and anyone else that is interested in helping to make sure that passes will be working together to try to get as much support as possible and educate the voters about the dignity fund and the importance of it so sandy think will speak on the agenda and will be talking about it that concludes my report. Commissioners. Well. Commissioner ow. Commissioner sherren the grant that you working with alzheimers who are you asking the money and how much for. From the administration for Community Living i believe is marlth here i believe that is between 8 hundred thousand and one Million Dollars it do so to dos but well have a lot of it to the alzheimers and the arc dos will be the administrator of the fund. Commissioner. Yes. Congratulations to all of these awards who is the select person or the select our. The who selects the winners. Yes. So the board of the National Association of area agrees on aging reviews the applications and makes the awards. Thats good. Any other questions. I just had one i guess maybe she might have answered in the report how is the dignity fund the difference in the campaign the living fund how when they both are supposed to help the patients Older Americans stay in their homes how are were going to what will be the difference in terms of the two candidates and a dignity fund. So in the Community Living fund versus the dignity the communicating u Community Living fund is something that dos administers and the institute on aging has no of the fund in the doesnt even Case Management and people need to stay at home the dignity fund can be a lot more than that and sandy will talk about that to fill gaps or used to address waiting lists this is not limited to the thing that the Community Living fund is it is confusing theyre both called fund. Each year i think it will be kind of you need to be clear as to how the two differ and how they shall i say that how the clients will benefit from it and. Absolutely i think that is Part Campaign so how the money will benefit people. Any other questions. Thank you next well have the employee recognitions the department of aging Adult Services honor is that linda tang if dos and all the support office services. clapping. so linda i want you to know that commissioner president james does not decrees pat risking for everyone this is a special day. Lindas has been with inhome Care Support Services and now a member of dos; right . I want to take the opportunity talk about this because it is inhome care Supportive Services that moved there but not inhome care Supportive Services but part of our Service Center that is means theyre providing Medicaid Services like some of the other programs in the Human Services agency i was wondering if other people from that agency are here if they could stand up clapping. so we call it internally it is the dos resource hub what they do at the dos Resource Center hub do the eligibility for adult disabilities around medicaid and inhome care Supportive Services and calfresh and really trying to help people aging out of the medical help them understand the services they might be able to get insurance helping them on medicare all of the things what are the option and in addition there are also doing information and referral theyre doing referrals to department of aging Adult Services to our meals programs to Case Management and all of those things we do so it is one of the places to come for any service that dos has any that the American Services has and in addition it is part of a greater hub the hub of a greater system the aging and disabled Resource Centers it is important work and t golf an important site with the services we have so linda is an information person shes someone that everyone comes to with help more information shes an expert be database and so thats why shes getting the award people realize would you say her expertise well be worse off but not just about her knowledge but willingness to pitch in and do all kinds of things helping with the alzheimers or helping someone with information all of those i think i want to say one thing in particular linda the planning unit has asked me to is a Say Something about our knowledge and willingness is stand up and they wanted to say thank you so im going to read what clapping. what the person or the people that wrote that was not a good sentence and congratulated with a degree in Computer Service and joined inhome care in march of 2007 and compassionate person towards the clients also contributing her computer skills to make that prerequisite efficiently and assaults the staff in making our jobs more efficient and maintenance the Case Management payroll system data 2k0er8d to have accurate data reports california work opportunity and responsibility kits Network Operators report and lastly volunteers for the projects like inhome care Supportive Services and Home Delivery groceries and calfresh lipid is a great asset and welcomes any challenges and very dependable and she demonstrates they are attributes with human illicit and follows directions and more importantly a great positive attitude and resolves challenges were grateful to have her. clapping. on behalf of the dos congratulations. clapping. laughter just thank you.
