Reporter John Mcdevitt of our sister station kyw news radio explains the concern surrounding this sculpture. Reporter billy goat statue was cast this bronze in 1914. It was given to the city as a gift and placed at Rittenhouse Square in 1919. Over the years the sculpture has been climb, touched and exposed to the elements. According to the public art director the metal is warn and integrity is a concern. It is very sharp parts to it the but kid managed to be fine. There were little holes in the horn and my kid at one point made a little necklace and put little flowers inside of it. Reporter some people call it billy, others just goat. This statue has been a meeting place, for decade, for philadelphians. For play dates or just to catch up. That is the coast of florida especially georgia, carolinas that really to have prep for some very, very catastrophic impacts, from this major hurricane heading that way. Our region though has gotten lucky. It looks like the track will keep it away. Today has been just a beautiful fall day. Perfect weather to be outside. Just stunning, not too hot, not too cold, those are goldie locks day. Just right, no too cold you need a coat in the afternoon but once sun goes down temperatures will drop quickly. They are dropping. Our high was 71. We are seeing temperatures drop in the mid 60s. Storm scan three is clear, for right now, it should stay clear through the end of the week. It will warm up here over the next couple of days as well as we await arrival of the front. When a front approaches we see wind shift from the southwest and that will bring warmer air for your thursday and friday. In the meantime it is 65 in philadelphia, 63 in millville. Sixtynine in allentown. 67 degrees in reading. The future weather shows High Pressure overhead as we head through the day tomorrow with sunny, Beautiful Day and friday more of the same with that high still in place, front still moving in from the west and that will get here on saturday and there is matthew still off to our south as we head into friday. Lets look at what happens once this front moves closer on saturday. It will have possibly some indirect impacts for matthew. This model is one of the further north mod wells matthew. You can see how that moisture could come along the front. Matthew itself will stay to the the south of us, dont think we will feel any direct impact. As front moves through it could intensify just a bit as far as rainfall rates thanks to the presence of tropical moisture in the atmosphere. Possibly heavier shower saturday into saturday night. It is not, you know, we are not calling off rain for weekend. Rain was always a combination of matthew and this advancing front. We have gotten rid of the matthew threat but front is still moving through. Speaking of matthew here are impacts, especially off to the south. This may get stuck along south east u. S. Coast sitting and spinning, eastern florida and bohamas. Storm surge three to 6 feet along the florida coastline but it will have minimal impacts north of cape happen race, which is great news for us. We are down to 51. Youll need that jacket, kid will at the bus stop as well but in the afternoon mostly sunny, nice and warm, 76 degrees. Friday looks great as well, partly to mostly sunny, 76degree again. And saturday again just because matthew is not heading our way doesnt mean it is a dry weekend. We have showers, heavier rain here. Good news is sunday looks great, we will clear it the out.
