man was found murdered inside his southwest philadelphia home. >> "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch is live at police headquarters why they think these young people are responsible, justin. >> reporter: good morning. police say three young men were seen leaving that victim's southwest philadelphia home. authorities believe that the victim here knew those three assailant whose may now believe broke into that man's home at least twice over the holiday weekend. >> a crime scene investigation unfolding a at this home on the 6300 block of theodore street where police say that a 77 year-old man was found dead. >> it looks like it was abrupt force trauma to the head that caused his death. >> reporter: no random act say police, based on initial evidence there may have been an earlier confrontation between victim and some young men from the neighborhood and retribution. investigation points to signs of the the two break ins in the home over weekend. this next door neighbor recounts hearing a loud boom 1:30 monday morning but thought nothing of it. >> i thought he slipped and fell down the steps. >> i heard the fire department come, they are banging on the door, looking through the window. >> reporter: welfare check requested by victim's son turned up nothing, in one came to the door but inside the victim was dead, discovered tuesday, his family now mourning the sudden violent death. >> it is shock. i can't imagine your father being 78 years of life, expect a parent to die eventually but not to die lake this. >> reporter: police are looking for one young men in this case, it is believed that these three men may have attacked and beat this man, twice, over the holiday weekend. anyone with any information is asked to call police. we are live outside police off-duty officer ended in gunfire. he was on his own motorcycle at broad and tioga when he got in the accident with the car. officer opened fire at the striking vehicle. one of the bullets shattered outpatient facility at temple university hospital. the officer suffered minor injuries. police are still looking for the driver of that car. time is 5:36. in business news, star bucks is getting ready news chester county investigators are trying to identify the body of the woman found in the pond tied to a cinder block. someone discovered the body floating on a surface of the pond in east coventry township monday morning. prosecutors say would the man was dead when she was placed in the upon. authorities are hoping that the jewelry and tattoos will help them determine the victim's identity. >> this young woman's body was thrown in the pond like someone was throwing away trash. >> reporter: police described victim as an african-american women between 25 and 35 years of age, about 5-foot six, weighing 130-pound. if you have any information, please give chester county detectives a call. here's an update to a story "eyewitness news" covered yesterday morning. philadelphia police continued their search for a man they say attack a woman and a teenage girl. this happened early yesterday on pratt street in frankford. police say 39 year-old malik bailey attacked his 38 year-old wife before sexually assaulting a relative. investigators say there is no known history of domestic abuse at the home and they say bailey has minor previous criminal arrests. bailey's wife is in critical resources available before, during and after a storm, and national ocean and atmospheric administration predicts ten to 16 named storms including four to eight hurricanes. emergency preparedness conference is this morning from 10:00 until noon, at the avalon community center and opened to the public. well, katie, hurricanes are last thing on my mind with weather like this. >> as it is understood and what is so interesting is we have very significant drought status when it comes to hurricane season. what i mean by that is we have not seen a major category three or greater hurricane strike the u.s. in a decade. it is hard to believe that, isn't it? we will take you out to the statistics, and start there and get to the eyewitness weather watchers but take a look at this, guys, no major hurricane has struck the u.s. in the last ten years. odds of having a string of lucky years like this in that kind of a stretch of time is about one in 270 years so this is a big deal. we have had weaker storms strike united states, in other words under a category three like sandy but you don't need a major hurricane to have major damage. meantime 40 percent chance a cat three strikes a u.s. this year, that is what we are predicting. as we look back here, bringing it out to the touch screen if we can. we will look at tropical satellite. what we are finding over atlantic basin is quiet weather. we do still have post tropical cyclone bonnie sitting and spinning off carolina coastline. that said it is not expected to have any additional impact, eventually moving out to sea and where we don't have fog is outside, in cape may courthouse where we overlook from middletown ship high school. 65 degrees there. more sun then anything. it looks hazy looking off in the distance but no major visibility problems but let meisha mentioned i was looking at visibility around our area north and west of the city, you may find some of that very patchy fog. sunnies up and been up for
