this? >> a lot of ups and downs. i'm totally exhausted. what a group of winners, a group of resilient winners. these guys never quit. they have answered every challenge all year long. when you want to crumble when the ball goes over the fence, these guys fight back and continue to have good at-bats. we used every guy on our team position player-wise. that says a lot about this team. it's been that way all year. we have guys who didn't make the roster who are great players. it's a great organization. i'm so happy for these guys. i'm happy they took me on this journey. >> ken: when you hit the home run, you looked stunned. >> you would be stunned too if you had my swing. it was. floating around the bases. i was trying to focus on the win. came into the game, gave up two runs. so proud of this group. >> ken: how much was your family on your mind? how are you surviving this heart attack game? >> one of the best games of all time. it's unbelievable. what a testament to our players. we gave up the lead and then during the rain delay, i walked by the strength and conditioning room. they were gathered around saying this is only going to make it sweeter. let's grind. they went out and had an unbelievable inning. got to congratulate the cleveland indians, chris antonetti, mike chernoff, terry francona. great organization. phenomenal year. what a battle. our fans to serve this. our players deserve this. chicago cubs are world champions. >> kevin: what do you think chicago is like? >> i can't wait to go back. our fans deserve it so much, all the former cubs. this is typical for so many people. ernie banks, ron santo. bringing the trophy home to you guys. it's been a century in the making. nobody deserves it more than the cubs players, cubs player, cubs organization. coaches, staff, unbelievable. >> kevin: congratulations. enjoy it. joe, come on in here. joe maddon, the manager. that looks good. how does it feel? >> it's your baby. it's your first baby. it's pretty incredible standing here among our guys. this is why this has all happened. a tough game, obviously. we regrouped during the rain delay and this group never quits. give our guys all the credit in the world. phenomenal bunch of professionals. >> kevin: as you look at these guys, staring at you ready to party, what are you most proud about? >> we never quits. i'm proud of the attitude, the culture we've created. it's something that carries for many years to come. not having won a world series trophy in 108 years. this is a breakthrough year. >> emotionally, how do you hang in the game? >> you've got to try. everything was going perfectly until davis hit the home run and then all of a sudden, you have to go to plan b, c, d. our guys were there all the time. conversation was great. incredible to be part of the moment. >> kevin: when do you think it will settle in? >> it's unbelievable. i can't put it into words. what the team has battled through all year long. leading we are the best team. the ups and downs, having to fight through things. it's an unbelievable team to be a part of. every guy roots for each other, takes care of each other, picks each other up. that's what we did during the rain delay. >> kevin: you have the game-winning hit, you had two strikes, a defensive swing trying to stay alive. how do you calm yourself in that moment? >> you know, i don't think it really -- bryan shaw was out there. of all our guys, he can bounce back probably as good as anybody. i really don't think so. they are a good team and they keep coming at you. that was tough. we tied. a lot of teams might fold. they didn't. but we didn't either. we just ran out of time. you know, it hurts. it hurts because we care so much. but i still want our guys to carry their heads high because they deserve to do that. >> tom: what did you say to your team, either individually or collectively? bridging the divide between police and the community. the 10 pm news is back in 90 seconds. man: in cities big and small, newspapers all over say it's time. woman: time to legalize and regulate marijuana in california. man: time to "vote yes on prop 64." woman: it's "better for public health, for law and order and for society." man: "it makes sense to regulate and tax" marijuana. woman: "prop 64 would bring discipline and oversight." man: "prop 64 is the first step toward a rational drug policy." woman: "it's time for a new approach." man: vote yes on 64. we are now six days before the general election, tonight, the presidential candidates are working overtime to flip the swing states. we will start with our election coverage, the presidential race, the clear politics national average hillary clinton politte over donald trump of less than two point -- hillary clinton over donald trump of less than 2 points. >> taking a look at key battleground states, north carolina, that's crucial to the electoral amount. florida is a must win for donald trump he leads by one percentage point there. and hillary clinton has a four- point lead in pennsylvania. as we head west, donald trump has the advantage in arizona and nevada. that is where hillary clinton campaign today. >> are we going to build a better america or will we fear the future and each other?>> she has had instincts, and that judgment. that is not going to be your prisoner. >> donald trump focused his -- she is not going to be your president. >> donald trump was in nevada and arizona. >> if hillary wins north carolina she winds. that means that when i say that the fate of the republic rests on you i was not joking. >> the president is hoping to boost support by the african american voters. this election has exposed a deep political divide across the nation. >> with the nation at the crossroads, many people will be disappointed with the outcome of the race. we were at city hall today, and here is amber. >> reporter: here in san francisco, people can come here to vote or drop off their ballots on tuesday. we headed out to ocean beach and many were expressing anxiety with the upcoming election. >> a beautiful sunset enhanced by the wind, water, and waves. >> every day. >> it offers a coming affect for the visitors. >> it gets stressful. >> reporter: it's an escape for beachgoers. regarding the two major party candidates running to be the next president of the united states. a background, that cannot be ignored. this mother of two says that the country is at a crossroad. >> generally, i am concerned, you know, it is a crazy election. i am just hoping, you know, things turn out okay for the country.>> reporter: voters from other part of the country, they say that they have confidence, and its checks and balances, it's a great country with even greater potential. >> there is decisiveness, and hopefully, whatever happens, we can come together and realize that we need to work together to fix our problems. >> i hope that the next one, we will keep going. >> reporter: no matter tuesday's outcome, some voters see a need for optimism beyond the horizon. >> you have to have hope. i hope raising young children, and i would like to set a good example turning in my vote and having my voice heard. hopefully that matters. >> reporter: everyone we spoke to his anxious to see who the next president will be. those who have not voted say that they will be excited to head out on tuesday. >> tonight, hillary clinton is looking at hillary clinton, the san francisco mayor. hillary clinton could top or as the top educational secretary or for housing and urban of element. she is under pressure to have a diverse cabinet, so far, no comment from the mayor's office. >> joining us now is the political analyst. ted cruz says that he is joining the campaign trail for donald trump. at this point, could this help donald trump? >> a little bit, i think, it's more about ted cruz setting himself up for 2020. frankly, and being a good soldier for the republican party. that's what it comes down to. how many veloz can he bring in?>> it feels like is -- how many votes he can bring in? >> it feels like with donald trump, -- >> we are seeing movement in the battleground states, mathematically, hillary clinton has the chance of winning this thing. we have six days to go, you never know. >> there is a drop in voter enthusiasm for hillary clinton. >> to the extent, that people decide, i have to vote for donald trump as an example, because i have lost all confidence in hillary clinton. that would be a problem for her. there are not a lot of undecided. 30 million votes have been cast. it makes it a tough proposition, i think, for donald trump to get the number of votes he needs to win this. >> but people talking about decisiveness will that carry over the matter who wins? >> it's your baby. it's your first baby. it's pretty incredible standing here among our guys. this is why this has all happened. a tough game, obviously. we regrouped during the rain delay and this group never quits. give our guys all the credit in the world. phenomenal bunch of professionals. >> kevin: as you look at these guys, staring at you ready to party, what are you most proud about? >> you know, i don't think it really -- bryan shaw was out there. of all our guys, he can bounce back probably as good as anybody. i really don't think so. they are a good team and they keep coming at you. that was tough. we tied. a lot of teams might fold. they didn't. but we didn't either. we just ran out of time. you know, it hurts. it hurts because we care so much. but i still want our guys to carry their heads high because they deserve to do that. >> tom: what did you say to your team, either individually or collectively? >> a little bit, i think, it's more about ted cruz setting himself up for 2020. frankly, and being a good soldier for the republican party. that's what it comes down to. how many veloz can he bring in?>> it feels like is -- how many votes he can bring in? >> it feels like with donald trump, -- >> we are seeing movement in the battleground states, mathematically, hillary clinton has the chance of winning this thing. we have six days to go, you never know. >> there is a drop in voter enthusiasm for hillary clinton. >> to the extent, that people decide, i have to vote for donald trump as an example, because i have lost all confidence in hillary clinton. that would be a problem for her. there are not a lot of undecided. 30 million votes have been cast. it makes it a tough proposition, i think, for donald trump to get the number of votes he needs to win this. >> but people talking about decisiveness will that carry over the matter who wins?
