expected, two days that plunged the vineyards into drizzle if not out-right rain. >> if they were really raining hard over the last few days then we would have a problem. the sonoma county chp alone reported more than 30 accidents before noon. including this big rig that lost their trailer, which flipped, spilled gravel all over river road. the driver going too fast on a curb, a familiar story. >> we are just asking people to slow down. the roads are pretty slick right now, so just understand that. be ready to brake. >> reporter: totals didn't amount to much, but the first rain was a chilly reminder of what's to come and what to check. tire treads, windshield wipers, most of those 30-odd crashes were spinouts down embankments or into trees, but some commuters also crashed into each other. following too close for conditions, chp said. >> first of all if we really had a problem we would strip the leaves. >> reporter: back in the field it wasn't nearly enough rain to incubate mold. with large populations in its path. the latest on hurricane matthew as it bares down on several caribbean countries. and also ahead chief meteorologist bill martin is tracking our forecast. he'll show us how the rest of the week is shaping up. the governor of florida and north carolina had to declare a state of emergency for hurricane matthew trekking close to their state over the weekend. matthew is being blamed for at least three deaths in the caribbean already. the latest was in haiti where the storm is expected to hit with full force at dawn tomorrow. heavy rain is already falling and forecasters call for at least 40 inches of rainfall in haiti. experts expect the storm to move past cuba where preparations are underway. 225,000 people are already being evacuated from low-lying areas on cuba's east coast. hurricane matthew is currently packing winds of up to 165 miles an hour. that is the big weather story in the country and around the world. i mean this hurricane is now a category 4. it is heading for haiti, it is going to hit full force. there's the potential for a lot of mud slide as you heard julie mention over two feet of rain possible with this major storm. that's just as it moves through haiti. now as it moves up the west coast or the east coast it is going to bump very close to florida and the carolinas. if this track was set to move 200 miles to the west then you will get a direct hit on florida. that's what they are concerned about, talking today about being ready and not messing around with this because it won't take too much for them to move. right now most of the models will keep it offshore. haiti is right in the path of this thing. these are the highs from today. it was cool out there with most temperatures in the 60s. i don't see any 70s on this map, but i do see a couple of 70s downtown. but for the most part we were 60s. now tomorrow, it warms up a little bit. there goes that system that brought the rain. and that it brought the snow to the mountains and brought severe thunderstorms to parts of the central valley yesterday. now, that system, it's gone, things are going to start to warm up now. and we've got those temperatures outside mostly in the 50s right now. the winds, well they are relatively light with the calm winds in oakland, relatively calm winds. let's see what else they are doing. yeah, variable wind direction, very light winds. tomorrow morning when you wake up it's mostly cloudy. by lunchtime for all of us it is partly sunny. and then the highs tomorrow, they'll be up to a good 5 to 8 degrees with more 70s -- 70s tomorrow. today is about the mostly cloudy systems tailing out of here. high pressure will build in and move offshore a little bit. then we will begin to warm up as we mentioned the earlier broadcast as they would go through at least the vacuum with a whole. that is why it is the lower pressure. high pressure wants to jump right in at this time of the year where the pattern will repeat itself. but this particular instance, they shouldn't cause us too much trouble as temperatures will come up over the weekend by late week, but we will be talking 80s and the low 90s. finally at this point nothing to be concerned about, but just that pattern that will show up. that's when you'll get the high fire danger. 72 in san jose. here is your five-day forecast as you'll see those temperatures trending up for your bay area weekend. this rain has been great up to half an inch of rain for the north bay and .1 inches or less. we're dressed for fire danger, couldn't be any better. job. back after this short break. mark is here with sports. kind of interesting here, barry bonds only lasting one year as a hitting instructor. >> yes, such a huge name, unceremoniously fired by the miami marlins. kind of a slow sports day, but barry bonds was .362 in the major leagues knows a whole lot about hitting. but maybe something lost in the translation when trying to get it over to his teammates. the guys that he is suppose to be coaching is the way the miami marlins saw it after just one year he is fired. as the batting coach for this team that finished 27th out of 30 teams in runs scored and they were basically thought of as being inconsistent throughout the year. now whether or not that he lasted in miami, not the point. maybe he's got a tip or two for the giants as they have had a teal with the mets where they are facing noah syndergaard and a guy who they have had big problems trying to hit particularly this year. there he is, thor as he is otherwise known. giants will have a .176 team batting average against him throwing harder than anyone in the big leagues averaging 98, 99 miles an hour on his fastball. however on the giant's side, madison bumgarner is not exactly a slouch verses the mets. 5-0 and a 1.80 e.r.a. career wise he gave up four runs though to the season in one game. justin ruggiano on one swing as a matter of fact. tagged him for a grand slam. how did the mets do that? terry collins their own manager didn't know. >> i don't know. you know, i don't really have an answer for you. you know there are nights when you are on, he's great. a great pitcher. that we might have gone -- we have gotten him on it. you can't let him get on top of you as you need to get those balls to hit and hit them. >> all right at 5:00 on wednesday back in new york fun and games for the teams to go onto the playoffs as they get to play a little bit more. but for the teams on the outside looking in, clean up time and not a good day for the former a's in any way, shape, or form for dave stewart who fired his general manager of the arizona diamondbacks after that team finished 22 games out. when many people thought that they would contend with the very least in the nl west that they would spend a lot of money with the former a's bench coach. and also out after the third straight losing season with the diamondbacks and a fourth place finish. he is gone in colorado, yet another former oakland a. the shortstop, remember way back when, walt weiss, he lead his team to a third place finish. their best record since 2010. not good enough to return as he too is let go today by the rockies. turning to some football we'll play to the san francisco 49ers organization right now. they had a home game yesterday that basically turned into a home game for the dallas cowboys. seemed like there were more people there waving a star than for the 49ers. today they confirmed that devastating news that their unquestionable defense player bowman has a ruptured achilles against dallas yesterday in the second half. he will definitely be out the rest of the season and you have to say it at this stage quite possibly a career-threatening injury to novarro bowman. certainly everyone is pulling for him after he came back from that severe knee injury sustained in the nfc championship game against seattle a couple of years ago. monday night football back in minnesota they are pumped up. about the vikings that is. and who better than randy moss who had so many great games on monday nights with the vikings blowing that big play to get the fans all pumped up. how about their project? sam bradford just blistering it up to kyle rudolph the tight end and they will be off to a 14-0 lead against the giants. tonight, however, odell beckham jr. is just losing his cool. time after time, frustrated by the vikings xavier rhodes who was all over him. now those two went at it continuously. and in fact that it was beckham getting an unsportsman-like conduct, unnecessary roughness penalty against him. and later, bobby hart one of his teammates would let him have it as they are now 4-0. let's talk about some basketball, we're going to get a little sneak preview of the circus that will be in town tomorrow. today the golden state warriors are getting ready for their exhibition game at oracle. chris paul and the clippers come in. the fans will get their first look at k. d. and of course steph curry is back working out today getting ready for the game tomorrow night. by the way tickets are available. after that saturday night setback they had in canada against the raptors, the guys did stick out though. patrick mccaw with 11 points, five steals. he likes being the underdog as he talked about that today. >> i'm one of those kids that you really don't know about. and i feel that way. it is always going to be that way until people start to realize that i know how to defend a game. you know, that has just always been a part of my life, always the underdog, always been under the radar. you know, i've always had to prove myself. that is the role that i'm going to continue to take. >> now the warriors lost their first exhibition. they lose tomorrow and people wonder what's wrong with this team. >> he is so right. >> we'll see you later everyone. have a good night. >> have a good night. >> good night. they're bringing crime, when mexthey're rapists.ople... are you going to have a massive deportation force? you're going to have a deportation force. we're rounding 'em up in a very humane way, in a very nice way. we're going to
