>> i was wondering if police were commenting on whether coarse -- he might've been driving under the influence.>> reporter: it would be good to know how quickly they picked him up, whether there were details on the changing pattern in a few minutes. investigators searching for a san mateo man after he allegedly knifed his girlfriend to death. neighbors are speaking out. police are looking for anthony karen check after they found his girlfriend at her home. colleen strahl was able to call for help before she died. neighbors say they heard the couple fighting over and over again. >> i saw her screaming at him and chased him out. i have never seen her running or anything like that. my husband called eminem. he had that gangster attitude. >> record show the man had been arrested before on drug and assault charges. a deadly and to a police chase involving a teenage driver and the stolen car. the chase speeds up to 90 on interstate 680. then it went on to side streets in san ramon where the chase ended with a crash. noelle walker spoke with the police chief who defended his officer's actions. >> the driver may have been ejected. >> reporter: pursuits rarely and well for the pursuit that ended with a driver, hannah meecham of livermore, dead. or two passengers, a 19-year- old woman and 37-year-old man from livermore, critically injured. please take a small amount of illegal drug was found in the car, but that wasn't the reason for the chase. >> at the time of the pursuit, they were trying to stop the vehicle for reckless driving. they found out later that the car had been stolen recently.>> reporter: police officers noticed a honda driving erratically and the pursuit was on. it reached speeds up to 90 miles an hour.>> south bm -- southbound at that exit.>> reporter: the chase continued from danville till it's deadly and in san ramon. there is steady traffic near the crash site even on a holiday sunday.>> i had to spend the afternoon in pursuit. it normally would of been called off by the supervisor. >> reporter: the investigation into the crash will take much longer. in san ramon, noelle walker, ktvu fox 2news. a deadly crash near orinda. a 48-year-old man crashed his pick up into an embankment, and peeling at archery. the chp is trying to figure out how it happened on san pablo dam road. his identified -- identity has not been released. new allegation that the cal fire cheating scandal did not just include trainees but instructors. the sacramento bee reports that the instructors tossed out test results for questions and some cadets cannot answer and that instructors were told to add points to compensate. a test writer told chp investigators that as many as half of the task force may have been manipulated. a new warning for those fire in berkeley sparked a grass fire nearby. the car caught fire at 2:00 this morning on bancroft way between fourth street and boulevard. the flames eventually spread to the nearby grass. even after monday. retailers are expecting an overall growth in holiday sales as more and more people shop online. some sad news to tell you about. our second weekend in a row, paramedics responded the 911 calls about people overdosing on synthetic marijuana, called spice. 16 young people needed help this weekend. last sunday, they treated eight. one was 13 years old. they were all downtown where a bad batch the drug is apparently circulating. symptoms include nausea, problems breathing, and eventually unconsciousness.>> it doesn't take a lot of spice to get someone to fall. i have seen people take one hit and hit the floor.>> police are still working to check on the source of the drug. coming up, the government finally stops collecting your data. >> what the nsa will have to do to look up a specific phone number in a terrorism case. at midnight, the nsa ended its bulk collection of americans phone records.>> the government is now finally replacing the program. >> reporter: president obama said in january 2014 he wanted this nsa program to and and in june this year, congress agreed but gave the intelligence community six months ending saturday night to close down the program. it was edward snowden who leaked details about the program which allow the nsa to track information about american on calls such as phone numbers and frequency and length of calls.'s -- now the law requires the nsa to get a court order and go to the phone companies to get those details. the office of the dir. of national intelligence put out a statement friday saying this change in the law will help make the nsa's efforts, appropriately focused and targeted. the statement went on to say the collection of data, is limited to enter information -- information that phone companies use for their internal billing. furthermore, the government will report to congress and the public the total number of orders issues -- issued and the targets -- number of targets of such orders. some are arguing that the us need's bulk collection to prevent terrorist attacks.>> what is troubling is you will have to go to multiple companies and at their pace search their records, which means it could take details on the changing pattern in a few minutes. investigators searching for a san mateo man after he allegedly knifed his girlfriend to death. neighbors are speaking out. police are looking for anthony karen check after they found his girlfriend at her home. colleen strahl was able to call for help before she died. neighbors say they heard the couple fighting over and over again. >> i saw her screaming at him and chased him out. i have never seen her running or anything like that. my husband called eminem. he had that gangster attitude. >> record show the man had been arrested before on drug and assault charges. a deadly and to a police chase involving a teenage driver and the stolen car. the chase speeds up to 90 on interstate 680. then it went on to side streets in san ramon where the chase ended with a crash. noelle walker spoke with the police chief who defended his officer's actions. >> the driver may have been ejected. >> reporter: pursuits rarely and well for the ones being chased. best case, the driver is caught and arrested. worst case, they and like this. atc, traffic collision, in san ramon before 1:30 in the morning. the play-by-play captured and police scanner traffic.>> we need code 3 medical. it was a bad crash. >> on behalf of danville police, our thoughts are with the family of this woman.>> reporter: today, the police chief talked about the pursuit that ended with a driver, hannah meecham of livermore, dead. or two passengers, a 19-year- old woman and 37-year-old man from livermore, critically injured. please take a small amount of illegal drug was found in the car, but that wasn't the reason for the chase. >> at the time of the pursuit, they were trying to stop the vehicle for reckless driving. they found out later that the car had been stolen recently.>> reporter: police officers noticed a honda driving erratically and the pursuit was on. it reached speeds up to 90 miles an hour.>> south bm -- southbound at that exit.>> reporter: the chase continued from danville till it's deadly and in san ramon. there is steady traffic near the crash site even on a holiday sunday.>> i had to spend the afternoon in pursuit. it normally would of been called off by the supervisor. >> reporter: the investigation into the crash will take much longer. in san ramon, noelle walker, ktvu fox 2news. a deadly crash near orinda. a 48-year-old man crashed his pick up into an embankment, and peeling at archery. the chp is trying to figure out how it happened on san pablo dam road. his identified -- identity has not been released. new allegation that the cal fire cheating scandal did not just include trainees but instructors. the sacramento bee reports that the instructors tossed out test results for questions and some cadets cannot answer and that instructors were told to add points to compensate. a test writer told chp investigators that as many as half of the task force may have been manipulated. a new warning for those of you visiting golden gate recreational areas. lock up your vehicles. officials say there has been a rash of car burglaries recently, especially in the marine headlands. we have reported on it recently, too. the thieves are targeting tourists with luggage but they asked everyone to lock their cars and leave valuables at home the park service says it will increase patrols through the holidays. the water is back on in lafayette after a pipe flooded streets and homes. water poured down the streets friday afternoon after a 16 inch pipe broke there. it left about 35 homes without water. once crews's -- got a better look at they found that damage was more extensive than they thought. service was returned after 10:30 last night. crews were there today repairing the road. a car fire in berkeley sparked a grass fire nearby. the car caught fire at 2:00 this morning on bancroft way between fourth street and boulevard. the flames eventually spread to the nearby grass. even after still missing. authorities presume that she was swept away in drown. another 33-year-old woman called for help, but by the time it arrived, it was too late to save her. >> she was panicked and wanting pile. -- paypal.>> some of these sites look legit. it looks like amazon.com, then it takes you to a different account. >> email spoofing is prolific. pay close attention to the content of the emails. if you get an email that you think is suspicious from one of the big-name advisors like paypal or amazon, you can pick up the phone and call and ask whether or not that email was directed to you. >> about people overdosing on synthetic marijuana, called spice. 16 young people needed help this weekend. last sunday, they treated eight. one was 13 years old. they were all downtown where a bad batch the drug is apparently circulating. symptoms include nausea, problems breathing, and eventually unconsciousness.>> it doesn't take a lot of spice to get someone to fall. i have seen people take one specific phone number in a terrorism case. at midnight, the nsa ended its bulk collection of americans phone records.>> the government is now finally replacing the program. >> reporter: president obama said in january 2014 he wanted this nsa program to and and in june this year, congress agreed but gave the intelligence community six months ending saturday night to close down the program. it was edward snowden who leaked details about the program which allow the nsa to track information about american on calls such as phone numbers and frequency and length of calls.'s -- now the law requires the nsa to get a court order and go to the phone companies to get those details. the office of the dir. of national intelligence put out a statement friday saying this change in the law will help make the nsa's efforts, appropriately focused and targeted. the statement went on to say the collection of data, is limited to enter information -- information that phone companies use for their internal billing. furthermore, the government will report to congress and the public the total number of orders issues -- issued and the targets -- number of targets of such orders. some are arguing that the us need's bulk collection to prevent terrorist attacks.>> what is troubling is you will have to go to multiple companies and at their pace search their records, which means it could take
