is oakland's latest homicide victim , the 1/100 person killed in the city so far this year, and we've learned he had connections to oakland city staff members and even the police chief killing happened alongside wade johnson park. ktvu is jana katsuyama live tonight in oakland, she met a family member at the scene. who, jenna shared his heartache with you. mike and julie. this was really difficult to be there and see the family members come up. they were part of the violence interrupters who are supposed to respond to scenes and help the families, and then they found out that they were part of the victim's family themselves. oakland police say they found the man near the corner of 12th street and kurgan street. he was just one block away from his home and as police officer arrived, so did oakland's department of violence prevention staff who came to comfort victims families and when i get here, i see his bike only in this case control killings rolled up to the fatal shooting to find the victim was his own uncle tom trying to muster up the strength. to comfort his children. are finding out today that their father has been murdered. so, ud it together and be here for somebody, but you hurting yourself, killen, says his uncle lewis. true hill, known as joey had been struggling for years. he was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago. but he says true, he'll finally had gotten a home of his own in west oakland and had just celebrated his 60th birthday. he was proud to be able to finally get off the streets. and get him a place to live. to have a place of his own. where he can have his grandchildren and children over neighbors say true hill was always trying to help others. i'm just devastated. i can't believe that this happened. when i found out that it was him. i was like wow. hill is oakland's 100 homicide victim this year, the violence touching even police chief laurent armstrong, who says he knows true hell, son , a city employee, this idea of no snitching, not giving information to the police, but that allows people to continue in his violence to realize that, you know, you see things going on in the movies. you see actors getting killed. they come back. start another pictures. but when you get killed out here is forever. you're not coming back and you're destroying families were ready for this to stop, you know, and it's not just my uncle. we're ready for this city to wake up and realize that we don't have to solve things with violence that this is not the answer. and there was so much heartache out there today. a lot of the people they're saying that this just has to stop. the police chief tells me that they do have some evidence. they have some witness statements and they have video from surveillance cameras. they are tracking down all of those leads. but he says they really need partnership from community members to try and bring some closure to these cases. mike. yeah. you get the sense that heartache and you rob bonta hopes visiting oakland tomorrow will help jump start efforts to ease gun violence. he plans to join oakland mayor libby, chef and other members of the community to discuss challenges fighting crime and what can be done to help the victims. at 11 tonight . we expect to see a man accused of a south bahia crime and robbery spree to show up in court tomorrow, investigators say lathan johnson or the necklaces off at least 14 women in sunnyvale, santa clara milpitas in san jose. those attacks started back in june. johnson initially faced robbery charges. now he's facing hate crime charges because the victims were almost always wearing a sari, bendy or other type of ethnic attire. he is expected to enter a plea in connect in with the heat crime charges tomorrow in oakland 10th of last year. in each case, the victims were caught by surprise in the dark and shot to death. people in stockton say right now they are terrified. another lifeguard man was on his way to work also knew at 11. police in san mateo say a traffic stop led to two arrests for weapons, narcotics and child endangerment . it happened shortly before midnight last night on la salva street, the officer stopped a car for a vehicle code violation and found that the driver and the passenger were both on probation. the officer then searched the car and turned up narcotics. a loaded gun and cash . a five year old girl was also in the car. police say they arrested behavior and james williams and booked them into the cemetery. oh county jail. the child was released to her grandparents. speed pursuit through multiple cities did not lead to an arrest today. sky foxx did capture images of today's chase. that went from lafayette to san francisco to richmond. chp officers say the driver being chased exhibited extremely erratic and dangerous behavior during the pursuit. as you can see here, at one point, the vehicle actually appeared to clip a cyclist right there. on surface streets in the city of oakland. that cyclist did appear to be okay as the driver, as you can see, just kept going. enforcement eventually ended the pursuit in richmond because they thought the conditions were just too dangerous to continue. they have not said why they were chasing the vehicle and no one again has been taken into custody. there are nose founder elizabeth holmes will not be sentenced for at least another three months. that's right today , the judge delayed her sentencing hearing that was scheduled for october. 17th that date has now been set aside for a hearing on the defense's motion ian. so far, we've had more than 1900 rescues in the use our teams nearly a week after the storm hit, rescue crews are still working around the clock to reach people stranded and some of the hardest hit areas of florida's gulf coast. washed out bridges and roadways, making the task difficult, especially in coastal communities still dealing with flooding. but in a small sign of progress, lee county officials say the florida department of transportation is already helping to rebuild a temporary bridge to pine island, carly only accessible by boat and air . we still expect for that bridge professional teams all the way down to youth leagues. ktvu s and ruben has reaction now from local sports leaders. emotional and sexual abuse. they are systemic in women's professional soccer, according to a scathing report. u s soccer commissioned the investigation following player allegations last year. this is a problem larger than just one or two individuals. this is a problem that pervades an organization within the national women's soccer league. there were coaches accused of sexual relationships with players of showing pornography instead of game film and of coaches fired for inappropriate behavior that were then. hired by other teams. it shouldn't be the price of women has to pay to have to tolerate tolerate this type of behavior and these types of environments. we have to remember that these cultures to ride women out of the sport as the investigation unfolded. five of the 10 coaches in the league last season were either fired or step down. but sean fletcher with san jose state university, says there needs to be big picture reform yet another, uh, cutting example of sport reflecting society many of the different accusations many of the different issues that
