Santa clara Police Officers say they were called to a disturbance at mcdonalds residence. They say mcdonald had physically assaulted a woman there while she was holding an inpant. They say he had already fled the scene by the time they arrived and he was later picked up on tara November Nova l. A. Va in san jose. 3 48 this morning our dispatch received a call of a disturbance at the residents of ray mcdonald in santa clara. Officers responded to the residents and learned that ray mcdonald was the suspect in an assault case. Additionally, he was also a suspect in a child endangerment case. Subsequent to that officers tried to locate mr. Mcdonald, but he wasnt there. He had fled after the incident. So we were able to locate him in san jose in the 2200 block of tara nova lane. He was arrested and transported back to Santa Clara Police department for protecting sing. Reporter this is not mcdonalds first brush with the law. He was arrested for Domestic Violence in august. The charges were ultimately not filed. He was involved in another incident in december where a woman alleged sexual assault. That case is still under investigation. Also in dees. 49ers diseased to re diseased to release him citing a pattern of poor decision make. He has been picked up by the chicago bears. No word on their response to the latest allegations. Reporter good afternoon. Just moments from now we are expecting to see and hear a 21gun salute. Take a look around. Hundreds people in San Franciscos presidio. We have been here since early this morning. Some say its been a somber and humbling experience for many who paid their respects to keep our country free. The sounds and sights of a somber and humble tradition at San Franciscos presidio. Paying respects to the fallen. I know people who have lost their lives. I get choked up, too. Yeah, its a deep, deep feeling. But they are in a better place. Reporter the tears in their eyes are real. Veterans, young and old. Military or not. They came to presidio to remember those who gave their lives that defense for our country. One woman comes to this Hallowed Ground every year and drops off flowers at the gravesites of heroes she doesnt even know. I go up the hill and randomly leave flowers on the grave and i touch the headstone and say you are remembered today. I do that each year. Its a privilege. Reporter with hundreds here for the ceremony before it started a quiet moment of reflection for some. One a son can give to a mom whose dad died more than 40 years ago. My dad gave me a lot. My mom gave me more. I am the only one to comes to visit her. She is still with me all the time. And i thats all i can say. Anthonys dining hall serve 2,500 meals. Today the Organization Says it expects to serve more than 4,000 meals. One in five of those meals will go to a veteran. Today the dining room is serving a picnic style lunch of hot dogs and beans to reflect the flavors of a memorial day celebration. A search underway in oakland after a Police Standoff ended without the arrest of a homicide suspect. Reporter Oakland Police say they found a marijuana grow inside this home on 100th avenue in dante. Police wouldnt tell us how many plants were inside, but investigators believe a dispute over the marijuana they describe as, quote, contraband, may have been the motive for a deadly shooting that happened a block away. Yesterday evening before 82 men were shot near 99th and dante. One man died. Nor was hospitalized. Within minutes witnesses and neighbors led police to this house near the shooting scene. There was a lot of help from the residents. People here really cared. They notified us. They completely cooperated with us. Reporter investigators believe the homicide suspect was holed up inside. A s. W. A. T team was called in. About nine hours later they entered the home and found the suspect wasnt there. Nobody in the house. It wasnt totally empty. There was contraband we found. It was marijuana grows. That may be the motive of why this entire incident occurred. Reporter the second shooting victim is in the hospital in stable condition. Investigators have been able to talk to him. But the information he is provided has not been very helpful, according to the lieutenant. The search for the suspect continues. We are learning more about the oakland man accused of killing his own father and two other men in a triple shooting over the weekend. 31yearold Damien Robinson surrendered saturday night after a twohour standoff. Once he was arrested police discovered the bodies inside. Neighbors tell the chronicle that robinson does not live at that home. Police have not released a motive in the shooting. There is a Health Warning at a popular east bay swimming spot this memorial day. Swimming is off limits at quarry lakes regional Recreational Area in fremont due to a dangerous blue algae bloom. Its the eighth to wash up on a Northern California shoreline in the last five weeks. A young 28foot grey whale washed up on Portuguese Beach on saturday. Officials say the fact that we are seeing so many whale mortalities is setting off some alarms. Last week an adult female grey whale 40 feet long was found decaying and rolling in the surf of half moon bay. Two others washed ashore in a pacifica. This is the end of the grey whale migration in which the stragglers are making their way back to arctic waters and their health can be diminished by hunger. They have not fed appreciably since they left arctic waters last fall. So they are working on an empty tank of gas when they are underweight and malnourished. That can open up a suite of altrition related diseases. Warming waters are a big concern because ocean nutrients thrive in colder temperatures. Thats something scientists are looking at. A couple missing for more than two weeks has been found in a remote wilderness area of san diego county. 79yearold Cecil Knudsen and 68yearold diana bed well were discovered on the indian reservation. Knudsen did not survive. His body was found near a white car. Bedwell was inside the vehicle. She is dehydrated and in serious condition. Authorities say the couple got lost leaving the valley view casino on may 10. They were trying to take a shortcut to their sons house in palm springs.
