Reporter well, witnesses including two Police Officers say that an elderly woman who was driving at speeds up to 80 miles an hour before she crashed into a white catering van and the gold colored minivan that you see, killing a teenager. The major accident Investigators Team is still reconstructing how all of this unfolded so tragically. Two twisted heaps of metal live in gough and pine streets. The witnesses say it sounded like an explosion. The van was airborne. Reporter tanya smith says it was scary. When i looked up, the car was landing. Reporter just before 7 00, officers spotted a silver mercedes speeding westbound on pine. The car was going so fast, they didnt have time to activate lights an sirens to get within a block of it. Reporter after three blocks the independent witnesses say they couldnt believe how fast that car was going. Some estimates as high as 80 miles an hour. Reporter the van held a mother and her two children on the way to school. A 16yearold boy identified as a junior at Lincoln High School was killed instantly. The mother and daughter were taken to San Francisco general. The daughter suffered critical injuries. Three people from the van were taken to the hospital. The driver of the mercedes got out of her car and walked away. When she came out, she felled. She grabbed her head. She looked really distraught. Reporter why was the elderly woman speelding . The Contra Costa County Sheriffs Office says deputies were fur suing a suspected stolen vehicle on marsh lane when a vehicle lost control. One person was killed. Two others were taken by lifeflight medical atdown medical center. Its not clear where the chase started. Marsh is closed between Morgan Territory and deer valley. A family of four attempts to escape an earlymorning fire. Two of them make it out alive. A father and daughter do not. To get inside they had to use a metal saw to cut through it a mother, father, grandfather and 1yearold lived inside the home. According to firefighters, the mother escaped out the back. In an interview with a lodi newspaper, montgomerys father claims the stabbing was self defense and denver hit his son over the head with a chair. An 18yearold detained has been released without charges. Police are still searching for two men scene running from the scene. Friends are speaking out about his death. They say they warned denver in the past about wearing his teams colors. But they said he was easygoing and never wanted to stop fights. Pg e shut off the gas to the oak Crest Estates on north first street after several leaks were found. Residents say theyve been without heat, hot water or the use of their stoves.
