kelseyville holding on to 30s and 20s all week long. warmer for many locations. napa at 33 degrees. northeast and looks like a beautiful day on the coast for everybody as well. maybe near 70 for santa cruz. timing low, giving high clouds to central california. tomorrow dealing with low clouds. ne need help and they will get it from a system coming in. our system is changing rapidly. sunshine and south bay this time, northbound 280 getting slow as you drive through the valley. a live picture, we can she you here on the maps as we go to them here that traffic is going to be busy on 280 northbound getting up to highway 17. 101 is filling in and so is 85. earlier problems on 237 near first street that's been cleared. if you're at 237, that has also affected 880 southbound coming down to 237 when that freeway is very closely tied together. let's move along and take a look at the commute here on 880 southbound between hayward and union city. you see traffic beginning to fill in there as well. san mateo and dunbar bridges are not bad. on the peninsula it looks okay. let's take a look at the bridge now that i mention it. the traffic is going to be moderate heading out to the peninsula. if you're drive to go the bay bridge toll plaza, you see the traffic here is backed up as you drive into san francisco. 7:03, back to the desk. we're beginning with breaking news we're following on the peninsula. a live picture of the scene on harbor boulevard. you see it's clear right now but this is where a u-hall truck tipped a fire hydrant in belmont earlier this morning. crews turned the water off a short time ago. the scene is quiet now. but before this is what it looked like. a guiser touching high enough to the power lines ahead. the crash happened at 3:15 this morning. water was gushing like this for more than three hours. the hydrant is dloes to a storage facility. no word on injuries. you see water polling there in the street. this is a difficult picture to watch. even though california is out of the drought here in the bay area, it's a lot of water wasted. it's been turned off and the water is no longer gushing. now comes the glean up. lee martinez will bring us a live report in minutes. meantime in washington a number of democrats now want attorney general jeff sessions to resign because of revelations that he met with a russian enjoy that's year. doug luzader has the story from washington. >> at the very least, this is a di stras for the white house as republicans agree to move forward on an allegation in russia's role in presidential campaigns. >> as the campaigns were heating up on at least two occasions, now u.s. attorney general jeff sessions spoke with russia's ambassador to the u.s. there's no evidence of any campaign collusion but during his confirmation hearing when he was asked about possible contacts, sessions said this, "i have been called a surrogate at a time or two in that campaign and i did not have communications with the russians.". >> democratic house minority leader nancy pelosi pounced in a statement saying now after lying under oath to congress the attorney general must resign. sessions was an early trump students say they have felt threatened since the election of president trump and they also say this became a much more politically charged environment here on campus last month after the conservative milo yiannopoulos was invited to speak at the union building. the planned speech ended with violent protests. some of the recent harassment of conservative students have been captured on video. >> you know, i believe it here. >> the students you see in this video destroyed one of the groups' wooden signs after taking it from a table that was set up on the plaza. the group says the young man walked up to the table to talk about issues like abortion and gay rights and snatched the sign. this happened on tuesday. the very next day the conservative student group says someone ripped apart one of their trump signs. on top of that the names and faces of many club members have been appearing on posters put up around campus with the heading "know your baby fashs" the hah harassment is trub ling, especially for parents. >> accusations that are fascist, they wanted me to come home and drop out of berkeley and come home. i convinced them i'm not going to. >> reporter: the flip side to all of this, the berkeley college republicans say their membership is now growing as the lone conservative voice here on a largely liberal campus. university officials have weighed in condemning what they describe as a new round of disturbing incidents and they also say they have been reaching out to any students who are feeling threatened here on the cal campus. >> alex savage, at uc berkeley, thank you. in the meantime, could oprah possibly run for president? during an interview with bloomberg magazine she eluded to possibly running for president saying president trump's win made her warm up to the idea. oprah said she thought she didn't have the government experience needed to run the country but now she thinks differently. oprah was a strong supporter of hillary clinton during the presidential campaign. new from overnight, three gunmen shot at an off duty oakland police officer. the shooting happened at 11:30 p.m. on interstate 880. we're told three men in a gray ford explorer cut off the police officer who was going southbound on 880. someone in the explorer opened fire. there was a pursuit and the suspects got away. the vehicle was later found empty at 55th and brooke dale avenue near mills college. police brought in a canine unit to look for the suspect but have not yet been found. during the original chase there were two separate crashes involving innocent bystanders. the river side county coroner officially released the name of the three people from san jose who were killed in monday's small plane crash. the three victims were the 83- year old, his 67-year old wife dana and their 22-year old grand daughter. two other relatives who were on the plane were ejected on impact but survived. before the plane took off on monday they told family members back in san jose they had run into bad weather. >> just wanted to let everybody know the conditions they were going through and pray to them before the flight because the weather was bad she kept mentioning. >> really? >> very rainy and windy. >> five people were flying back to the bay area from disneyland after they watched the teenager grand daughter compete in a cheerleading competition. the national transportation safety board said it may take up to a year before they release the results of the investigation. new this morning, in marin county transportation officials considering a plan that would allow commute buses to get around traffic jams. live pictures of 101 in san rafael with so many people using 101 to make their way to work and school. cal tran is launching a pilot program to test the idea. the marin transportation authority submitted a later asked marin be part of the program. buses would use the shoulder on highway 101. for safety reasons, bus speeds will be limited to 35 miles per hour and other traffic of course would not be allowed on the shoulder. the time line for the project has yet to be announced. time is 7:11 it's been nine months since a venice, california was priced last night at $17 a share above the expected target range of 14 to $16 a share. snap is one of the most anticipated technology ipo's since facebook in 2012 and twitter's debut in 2013. this is an amazing part of the story. saint francis high school in mountain view invested in snap according to the tech blog the information a fund link took part in an early investment hydrant was gushing water for hours this morning after it was clipped by a u-haul truck in belmont. how intad the damage? >> reporter: well, the good news is they turned the water off. as for the damage, we're getting blocked here in our view because the water department showed up. that's one of their trucks in front of the fire hydrant there. crews out here doing work. we'll show you pictures from earlier to show you how bad it was. a u-haul truck hit the fire hydrant. a water giser shot up sending water 30 feet into the air hitting power lines so pg&e had to come out and shut off the power to the area. this section was temporarily shut down for crews to work. water was brought down and coming back out here live, you see that it's all clear right now. we're seeing people show up for work now. someone just arrived with the storage unit facility. we heard reports there was water damage to some of the storage units possibly. it seems likely since there was a lot of water out some slowing in the area but it's getting slow anyway. this is the time when we see slow traffic as you drive through the area. no major problems however on 880 on 580 getting into oakland. westbound highway four, an accident at summersville road. now a crash in the eastbound direction where two people are standing there in the lanes. no injuries but they are refusing to exchange info. chp is required to come out there and hopefully cooler heads will prevail. that's eastbound in the same general area. westbound traffic is slow into concord and 680 walnut creek traffic is slow. we talked about the nemitz freeway slow. the peninsula traffic not bad. southbound 280 slows down to westboro, that's all. san mateo bridge traffic doesn't look bad as you drive through the area. at the bay bridge toll plaza we have a decent commute for this time of the morning in a 20- minute wait at the toll plaza. 7:19. this is a look at highway 101 in san rafael. a bus is picking people up. southbound 101 traffic here near the civic center, you see traffic is busy but nothing out of the ordinary. a nice shot of marin county traffic. at 7:19, just trying to ease into this -- look over sheriff's office still searching for missing teenager pearl pinson who disappeared ten months ago from vallejo. here in the newsroom with the latest on this, allie rasmus. >> reporter: yes, 16-year old pearl pinson disappeared back in may. witnesses reported seeing the teen on a bridge in va hey screaming for help -- -- vallejo as she was dragged off by a man into a car. recently released tapes reveal what the witnesses described. >> i heard the shot. she said call the police and he's trying to shoot me. >> this guy was trying to rape this girl and he shot her. >> the witness reports prompted an amber alert and police named castro who died a day after the shoot out. he barricaded himself inside a home after fleeing police. they found his blood in her car but her body was never found. with a recent interview, investigators believe it's possible other people may have been involved in the kidnapping and that she may still be alive. >> it wasn't a significant amount of blood that would indicate it wasn't survivable. we still very much hold on to hope that we are going to bring pearl home and she's being held somewhere against her will or being passed person to person. but that she's alive. >> now in the ten months since she disappeared investigators have gone through hundreds of hours of surveillance video and tracked her car to the jenner area and confirmed he was driving in the area after her kidnapping. a couple months ago they did a search of coastline but still no sign of pinson. pinson's sister says she also holds out hope that her sister is still alive killed of killing sierra lamar. defense lawyers tried to raise doubts about the physical evidence collected from his car. detectives say that a single strand of lamar's hair was found in the trunk of the car. however, the defense lawyer alleges a single strand was missing from an evidence envelope containing other hairs collected from a bag. antolin garcia-torres is charged with kidnapping and killing the teenager who disappeared in 2012 2012on her way to the scholarship bus stop. the widow of the pulse nightclub gunmen omar mateen could be out of jail tomorrow. it left 49 people dead and he later died in a shoot out with police. she moved to the bay area to be with her family. she's been in federal prison after being arrested two months ago. a federal judge granted her bail yesterday. >> he's missing his mom. he cried because she used to sleep next to him and tell him a story and every night he cries. >> solomon will be released tomorrow morning unless there's an objection by the florida court where she's tried. she will still have restrictions and must live with her uncle and wear a gps tracker and the only time she's allowed to leave is for medical appointments or court hearings. the california supreme court will consider whether information on the personal phones of state officials can be considered public records. many state officials in california have admitted to using personal email accounts and cell phones to conduct government business. the lawsuit before the court concerns messages that were requested about the developments in downtown san jose. they were sent or received on private devices used by san jose's mayor and city council. the cities said it didn't have access to the messages since they were created on personal devices. the warriors play the men appeared in the san jose courtroom yesterday arrested shortly after a stabbing at a bar on 2nd street. the security guard say he was stabbed after an at occasion. the other two being held without bail. complaints are growing in san francisco from business owners about a large homeless camp in porayal hills. business owners took photos of drug use and car break-ins. yesterday morning a fire oakland's new police chief anne kirkpatrick has one mission -- to make the city safe she says. after sitting down and talking 101 with dave clark, she discussed her law enforcement philosophy as well as her vision for oakland. she's 57 years old and describes herself as quiet, direct and consistent. she has ideas to improve the police department and first wants to hear from her staff about changes >> okay, i do. >> yes. >> thank you very much, steve. right now we do have the traffic that is moving along better than it was. let's take a look at the south bay first. we're looking at 280 in san jose. you see the traffic is moving along well as you get up to highway 17. it's cleared out. it was slow a bit earlier. now looks like the traffic has become better. northbound 101 at 85 are still slow. northbound 101 and 280 are going to be filled in getting up to mountain view. it stands within the realm of normal. 880 is slower and so is 237 because of earlier problems on the peninsula. southbound 101 through redwood city is slow. 101 in both directions is sorrow in san mateo. northbound 101 is slow up to san francisco -- -- slow in san mateo. let's talk about the bay bridge. the traffic there at the plaza is backed up for 20-25-minute delay. we begin with a developing story we have been following where a crash may have caused thousands of gallons of water to dwush out. >> a vehicle clipped the fire hydrant earlier this morning. lima tee nez arrived on scene -- -- lee martinez. >> reporter: i talked to a witness whose car was hit. he says the u-haul driver drove up on the sidewalk where the fire hydrant was at the end of the street. he came up the sidewalk, sideswiped some storage units and then came and hit three parked vans, one truck up here and then he finally came to a rest. we do have some video we took earlier showing you how much water was coming down earlier. this was a 30-foot giser in the air touching the power lines. pg and e had to come out and turn off the power lines in order for crews to stop the water. we were told it wasn't the fire department's duty but more the water department that had to turn off the water. they did get it turned off. we talked to chp and they say no charges against the driver. back out here live, one of the witnesses says that he believes that there's a lot of water damage out here in the storage units. he's been here several times before and saw a lot of water come rushing out. his car is damaged. here he is, would you like to talk to us sir? you saw everything? you witnessed it? >> i was in the van. the guy came up on the sidewalk, first he took out the water heater. he was in a new u-haul van. he took out the water heater. i thought it was like an earthquake in the building and it was coming down. my three work trucks are ruined and i hope he has insurance. >> you say you haven't been inside. >> aye been here since 2010. he let me grab some tools out of my van so i could try to move it and bend the fenders out but he's not letting people in. >> but it looks look a lot of damage? >> yeah, the water damage people there are. the fire hydrant went from 3:00 3:00 in the morning to just a little while ago. the guy from the water department couldn't find the meter. i told him it's in front of the fire hydrant. he turned everybody's water off. it's crazy. >> reporter: sorry this has happened to you. the water is coming off the roof. there's so much water pouring off the roof. the witness you just heard from told me when he talked to the driver the driver's story was he saw a dog in the road and he swerved to avoid hitting the dog. back to you guys. >> do we know if the driver is going to be charged or not? ? >> i talked to chp and they say at this point no charges against the driver. they ended up towing u-haul truck away. new from overnight, police say three gunmen shot at an off duty oakland police officer. he was not hurt in the incident. the shooting happened at 11:30 near fifth avenue. we are told that three men and a gray ford explorer cut off the police officer going southbound on 880. that's situation escalated and someone in the explorer fired at the officer and there was a pursuit and the suspects got away. the vehicle was later found empty at 55th and brooke dale avenues near mills college. police brought in a canine unit to look for the three men. during the original chase there were two separate crashes involved innocent bystanders. the river side county coroner has officially released the names of three people from san jose killed in a plane crash. the three victims -- two other relatives were thrown from the lane plane on impact and they survived. they told family members back in san jose they encountered bad weather. >> just wanted to let everybody know the conditions they were going through and pray for them because the weather was bad. she kept mentioning. >> really? >> yeah, very rainy and windy. >> the five people were returning to the bay area from disneyland after watching the grand daughter compete in a cheerleading competition. the safety board says they could take up to a year before releasing the investigation results. the highway in the santa cruz mountains is temporarily closed. highway 35 between bear creek road and summit is expected to be shut down for a week. recent storms have caused problems along the highway. sky fox flew over a stretch to look at the damage. a hillside along bear creek needs showing up. cal tran expects the road to reopen next wednesday. the flood relief effort in san jose is getting a boost from a billionaire philanthropist. he's donating $5 million to help flooded out last week. he presented a check to the city yesterday and said getting the mayor's attention was easy. he moved to california from vietnam following the war. the donations will be distributed through four major nonprofits. it is the most highly anticipated ipo since facebook and twitter. the parent company of snapchat goes public today. >> it's very exciting, usually a big boost to the stock market when familiar companies feel confident to go public. snap priced at $17 a share above the expected range of $14 to $16 a share. the cofounders rang the bell this morning and keeping a close eye on it, it's not starded trading yet. 300 points on the upside for the dow. the parent company of snapchat is based in venice, california and it was priced last night at $17 a share above the expected range of $14 to $16 a share. the copound founders will retain controlling power. the class a stock being sold has no voting power. snap getting the ticker symbol snap on the new york stock exchange. >> initially there's a lot of concerns and skepticism about whether snapchat can grow. i think that with facebook people understood it when they went public. if you remember it, they went public with 800 million users. we were already on it so investors got it because adults were on it. >> no matter what part snapchat debuts on the new york stock exchange this morning. 26 years old, the founder. they are definitely going to be billionaires. here's another group of kids going to the navy. the school saint francis high school will reportedly cash in on the investment in snap. the information a fund link to the private high school took part in the early investment round at snap. that stake is worth tens of millions of dollars. great to see that a school actually invested. coming up during the 9:00-hour, the reporter will talk about the rise of snapchat and what it could hold for the future. is it a good investment or too late? house as democrats and republicans on capitol hill have agreed to move forward on an investigation into russia's alleged role in last year's presidential campaign. as the campaigns were heating up last year on two occasions now u.s. attorney general jeff sessions spoke with russia's ambassador to the u.s., no evidence of any campaign collusion but during his confirmation hearing when he was asked about possible contact sessions said this, "i've been called a surrogate at a time or two and i did not have communications with the russians". the democratic leader pounced in a statement saying "now after lying under oath to congress about his communications with the russians the attorney general must resign". sessions was an early trump sporer but denies wrong doing suggesting the meetings were part of his job as senior senate member on services committee. he released a statement. whatever role sessions may have played on capitol hill an investigation is churning forward into allegations of russian interference in the campaigns with the republican in charge blaming the obama administration. >> a year ago i went out and called the fall r failure to understand vladimir putin's intention, the largest intelligence failure since 9-11 and the last administration didn't do anything about it. >> this fuels calls from democrats to reaccuse himself from investigations
