It is 6 05 am. A san jose man facing charges of attempted murder of a Police Officer after firing shots at them yesterday and the third officer involved shooting in san jose within a week. Yesterday was just before 8 am and the police say the suss back have been looking suspicious at the Sporting Goods store and when the Police Arrived the man pulled a gun and started shooting at them. The Police Officer return fire and no one was hurt. The police say the suspect jumped over a fence into the Mobile Home Park and was arrested. They also found a handgun which they say it had been reported stolen in a burglary in 2013. The actions of the suspect were appalling and the continued Violence Toward Law Enforcement officers is equally appalling. The police say the suspect is believed to be homeless with a history of mental illness. A constitution amendment would be needed and unlike the Cal State University system the uc system is autonomous from the legislature with their own government going back over 100 years. The only way the state legislature can compel the system to do anything is by threatening to withhold the money. They have been lobbying hard to prevent passage from any bills that will chip away at the autonomy and the situation may not be any different for the latest bill for possible action on the proposed constitutional amendment in the state senate.
