feted from the steel beam. it happened last night after 5:00 at an office building under construction off of bay front expressway. the men were seriously hurt. they were rushed to the hospital. authorities say according to a preliminary investigation, the men were working on the beam when the building shifted and caused the men to fall. >> there was rebar all over the place. they could have landed today. if you want to stay lucky for surviving. >> lucky to be surviving. >> and the two men were wearing full safety gear of the time. 100 workers were at the site when it happened. cal-osha investigators are expected to be there at the site today. >> and we 6:06 is the time. we have an update to a story we told you about yesterday about a story at 2 and a woman attacked at a san jose campus. you can see her being attacked by several women early yesterday morning. the last report we had is it's still in the hospital. the this happened on a long stretch of san carlos street between a sidewalk and the parking lot of a fast food restaurant. the police say the victim will be okay but this attack could have been a lot worse. >> it does happen. it was captured on tape. you guys have a video of it and it does happen. not a lot but it does happen. >> we're lucky that this is not a homicide. >> they're trying to figure out if this is a random attack or if the victim was targetted hear from you. and time is 6:07. two 11-year-old girls in heyward reported as missing have both been found safe. police say mikalal, hayes and samali awhile left park elementary school yesterday afternoon about 1:30 and they're considered at risk because of age. also because police say that they have run away together in the past and police say the girls returned home safely and we have no other information about the case. a cable car conductor accused of stealing fairs. the 55-year-old was arrested yesterday accused of embezzlement and theft of public money. last week, another cable car operator was arrested and he was charged with stealing fares. the police say they searched williams' home and found $32,000 in cashed in a safe. it may eliminate cash fares on cable cars. >> and women's restroom. another fire was started in a hallway on the 17th floor and a hotel security guard was hurt. the man in custody is facing charges of first-degree arson and burglary. and the wife of far on whether he will make good on the campaign promise to eliminate the marriage penalty. before the principles were revealed, democrats laid down a marker. >> if the president's plan is to give a sexual assault trial. and as expected, 15 tenants of a west oakland apartment building that burned late last month are suing the building owner and building managers. four people died in that fire. six others were injured when the building on san pablo avenue burned. the lawsuit claims the building was a fire trap and badly maintained. the court documents show the 15 tenants are asking for to become this substandard. >> city records show eight fire code violations were issued on the building three days before the fire. the city of oakland businessing concluded as a defendant in the lawsuit. and tenants say the landlord and management are the ones who failed to maintain the building. a very disturbing story in vallejo. a woman out walking on the trails she found 12 dead dogs stuffed into garbage bags near a park. she said she made the discovery recently while walking her dogs on a path along columbus parkway. and those dogs were all different breeds and she reported it to the police and came back the next day hoping to find the authorities investigating but said that there was not much left there at the scene when she came back. she thinks coyotes may have carried the remnants of the dogs away. >> and they lost their lives to something sick and depraved. i don't know what happened. were they bait dogs or is there some individual out here killing dogs? >> of course, consevennative group is gathering in berkeley to express their -- and hampering their free speech rights. they're reminding people that peaceful protests were allowed and as things evolved into a 101 is backed up as far as 280 and it's barely moving. it's not the kind of backup that you can get through in 10 minutes when you, you know, you'll stick to this. i wouldn't at this point is it in this traffic. you know what i would do? and remember, i lived in san francisco right in the area for a long time and i would get on 280 or use the city streets. don't use 101 right now. it's absolutely jammed. you can still get northbound 280 out towards the king street exit. and we're also looking at other parts. we're not going to focus on san francisco. 880 in heyward is slow, especially south bound because of earlier issues heading south. on the freeway in union city, it does look okay; foris backed up into -- highway 4 is backed up into antioch this morning because of a crash on the chicago highway. they moved the crash to the side and that is really very, very slow on highway 4 and this is a commute. you need to give yourself extra time for. if you're driving on highway 24, it's jam packed in lafayette to the tunnel at the bay bridge toll plaza and backed up for a 20-minute delay. we have a quite a commute on this morning. 6:52 and to steve. >> thank you. and on highway 101. wendy cornberg posted this video on facebook, watched as it happened. she was in her car as that slide began, near the town of leg et. one lane of the two way highway had just reopened. it looks like it's liquid. but one side was already blocked. it had been closed from another slide earlier this month, and this slide is going to affect the area of mendocino county. uber making it easier for riders to see their ratings. >> riders and drivers use a five star system. they see their own ratings, but now their ratings will be under their names. uber said it made the change to encourage mutual respect. now, the company also changes how drivers are rated. riders can now give a low rating because of other passengers without it counting against the driver. the time is 6:57. a plan by pg&e to cut down more than 200 trees in lafayette is angering people who live there. pg&e wants to remove 272 trees, that's in the green color you see on the map. the goal is to get everything. i choose to walk here because it's pretty. >> it's a live coastal oak. probably a hundred, 150 years old. it's been a long time. >> this tree is among the 272 pg&e wants to cut down. city officials reached an agreement earlier this month as part of the utilities project to improve first responders access to underground gas transmission lines in the event of emergencies and protect pipelines from damage. >> when pg&e first approached the city, their list was a thousand trees. and we were able to work with the utility to lower that to just 272, although that still remains a big number. >> a big number that is not acceptable to dawson. >> i wish they would have involved the public with that process. because when that deal was announced at the city council meeting, it was signed and now they call it a done deal. >> dawson says he started this online petition saturday and has received more than 500 supporters so far. people who frequent the trail question the necessity of cutting down trees. >> i doubt that is 100% necessary for sure. >> reporter: fg and e -- pg&e says public safety is paramount. >> it's the same principle why you couldn't park behind a fire hydrant, the same principle as why you can't have trees, shrubs on top of a gas transmission line. it prevents emergency responders to have the quick access they need. >> it would be the same way for me to say down the road sometime i might get a cavity, so i'm going to take out my teeth. >> there's always alternatives. pg&e needs to talk to the home homeowners and come up with a solution for both
