We will start in where we have the flooding in and around napa and sonoma. Saint helena. The napa river is expected to go above flood stage by nine this morning. Expected to reach almost 19 feet. Flood stage is 16. You can expect flooding. Going through today. Its expected to go down tonight. For the napa area its expected to reach just above flood stage about noontime today. Minor flooding expected in the napa river in the lower areas. Be careful. A widespread Flash Flood Watch until four this afternoon for ponding on the water. Mudslides and we are seeing it. Rapid rises on the streams, creeks and rivers. Here is where we are experiencing flooding for today. Sonoma. Our creeks are flooded. Here is a look at where we are seeing more along the creeks. Sonoma and shellville. We are seeing some flooding again with areas along river and the napa creek. North bay being hit hard by this system. Also a flood advisory in the east bay. They say every time one slide is cleared another hits. They have a contract to repair the damage. We keep coming back to fix everything all over again. Its painstaking. The problems affect a six mile stretch of highway 9. Neighbors businesses like savannah have been forced to close because there was no access or no power. About 7 00 we will find out if the lake tahoe area will be under an avalanche warning for a second straight day. The Sierra Avalanche Center said there is a high avalanche danger because of the wind, rain and the snow. Avalanches that are created naturally or triggered by people are possible. Chains are required on both interstate 80 and highway 50. About two feet of snow fell over donner summit. Other news the court of appeals in San Francisco will hear oral arguments today in that legal fight over the president s controversial travel ban. Dozens gathered last night to remember a man killed in a road rage incident one year ago. People lit candles in honor of the 18yearold. He was killed by another driver following some type of dispute on the road. Friends and family members say that he was a straight a student who never had anything to do with gangs. One suspect is in custody but two others still havent been found. Eric reyes family is offering a 30,000dollar reward for information that leads to more arrests. Ac transit provided a bus bridge to get passenger around the station but that closure caused system wide delays on bart. Up next the sentences three defendants are facing in the killing of a marin county hiker and backpack near San Francisco. Welcome back to mornings on 2. Two drifters pleaded guilty in the high profile murder case of a backpacker. The two each plead guilty yesterday to two counts of first degree murder in marin. They are ceused in the shooting of Audrey Carrey in San Francisco and steve carter in marin. Both killings happened just days apart in october 2015. The District Attorney talked to the families of victims about the plea deal. We want to do make sure that they felt comfortable with it. If they didnt we were prepared to go forward as was anticipated to happen, we were approaching from the standpoint of trying to put some finality into it. A third suspect plead guilty last year to Second Degree murder. The gunman faces a hundred years to life when is he sentenced in april. The others facing 50 years to life in prison. The third is facing 15 years to life. That plea deal does allow for the possibility of parole. Piedmonts new police chief is starting his first day on the job today. The chief was sworn into office yesterday. He has worked in the Piedmont Police Department Since 2014. After 18 years with the san jose Police Department he has won praise from many.
